I was searching for 3D printing topics in the forum, unfortunately didn't found much. At first I was thinking the forum is only for movies discussions, but then found collectibles section, cosplay, drawings, painting and others. So there are dedicated sections for some of the other Star Wars related topics. I am a big fan of 3D printing, I own 2 printers and can make interesting things.

So my proposal here is to create a dedicated section for 3D printing and models discussions. I know many people see the 3D printing as supplemental art intended to enhance their other hobbies, but in my opinion everything depends on the scale, if you have over 1 TB of models than it is a major hobby of yours and it deserves it's space.

To demonstrate some of the aspects, I will post here a picture of model of R4 droid, life sized.

@Krali Marko Vizla GREAT THREAD! I am desperately searching for a reasonably priced, roughly 1/32 or 1/48th scale 3DP Razor Crest

.....as the Haslab version is $395!!!

I have the model, I think scaled for 3.75" / 100mm figures. I don't know you need a model or you need someone to print it for you?

It's a very detailed model. Here some pictures from the build, however it's not my build.

Here is something I have printed during the previous season. I printed it for my kids but they are too small to appreciate the beauty of Star Wars :) so I kept it instead. Found it yesterday in the box and I proudly put it on my desk.

Printed with red PLA on Creality CR-10S PRO.

Next one will printed on SLA.

A few more things from Star Wars, mostly from Solo and The Mandalorian

left to right The Mandalorian shin mounted flares, rifle cardridges, belt buckle. rifle sling buckle, Solo belt buckle parts, Solo lucky dice, mandalorian grenade, imperial / syndicate symbols, most to the right power generator for table top games.

Unfinished due to lack of time, they need a bit of sanding and painting.

I would like to make this thread alive. What would you advise me guys? What should I post here or do so that I can sparkle a discussion here?

Here is the latest model I found, the new republic badge or medal from s02e04 of The Mandalorian

In reference to what we saw in The Mandalorian Season 2 CH. 12 here is the C-25 frag grenade which the scout trooper tried to use. C-25 in the front, not to be confused with the Sonic imploder in the back, very similar in shape but with bigger openings for the red light, closed version on the right. The models are free, if you want to print your own please drop me a line.

After checking the models I found out none of them is sized to the original, or at least not for my palm. So I sat down and remixed two of the designs to get the C-25 and the Sonic Imploder properly resized and sharing the same pop-up cap. I have printed already the model with the screwed cap and it was not easy to assemble it. So this time it should be straightforward.

Here is a picture of the new model.

No, man, it's not the same as the 3D printed one, but if you like lego it is ok. I have tried 3D printing lego some time ago, it didn't work so good, it was useful though.

In the spirit of The Mandalorian Season 2 Chapter 13: The Jedi -> I would like to post here a 3D printed set of Ahsoka Tano's lightsabers. In my opinion a very nice design. So you can print now your own set of Ahsoka's lightsabers
( disclaimer: this is not my design and the build is not mine ( for now ) )

This is a great thread @Krali Marko Vizla! If I had the time, money, energy and space I could definitely see myself getting into 3D printing.

I was wondering, how light/heavy is the printing stuff (sorry I don’t even know the terms)? I was just thinking for things like lightsabers are they maybe a bit too light? If you’ll excuse the pun :D

But I guess you could print them as some kind of shell to fill with something inside to make them heavier (like some metal or something). Or maybe wire up a space for batteries to power some LEDs? :)(lightsaber)

The most common plastics are PLA with density 1.25gr/cm3 and ABS with density ~1gr/cm3. 3D printed objects usually are solid or with thick walls to give rigidness, and give solid feel. I have printed a pair of custom lightsabers some time ago, they feel solid and with weight. The density of aluminium is 2.7gr/cm3 but usually it is made thinner and lighter. In any case the lightsaber will contain batteries, electronics and some metal in the form of buttons, connectors, screws etc. so it will have weight.

Time you need a lot, money side is manageable, entry level printers star at 250 USD, a roll 1kg of filament is 16 USD. But time ... time you will need a lot.

For lightsabers I believe the finish is more important and the balance, it is a prop after all, you want it to look realistic. For duels I recommend metal sabres, machined from aluminium or steel. I have seen people printing hollow parts and filling with lead to give extra weight. This is done of course only if needed, as example for model railway.

    What about this?
( disclaimer: not my model, but I have it )
