So, I love the animated shows and have seen them all. However, my brother, who really enjoys the movies pretty much refuses to watch the shows. Partially because he's not an animation fan, but also partially because he thinks he's too far behind and that it will be a "chore" to catch up and watch that many episodes.

So I was wondering if there was like a list of most important episodes to watch in Clone Wars & Rebels? But not just like the "top 5 episodes", I'm looking for like a most important episodes to see to still get a good idea of the whole series', but maybe it would only be half or one-third the amount of the total episodes, etc. Does that make sense?

I got this idea because a friend of mine told me he heard someone say they skipped the entire first season of Clone Wars and didn't feel like they missed anything and still enjoyed the series. So I figured maybe I could make a compacted list for my brother to see.

Hmm... for Clone Wars, I'd suggest tackling the issue a different way- look not at episodes, but arcs. What arcs interest him? If he's a Maul fan, you could look into the arcs that involve him (perhaps starting with the Nightsisters stuff for context).

Or maybe he wants to experience the Clones more?

Or maybe the weird stuff, like Mortis and Yoda's force walkabout?

For Rebels... personally, I think this one is a little tougher. Since the story follows the same group chronologically, I wouldn't suggest skipping much. There are certainly some filler episodes (and season 1 takes a while to heat up), but if you skip everything and go straight to Twilight of the Apprentice you'll be entirely robbed of the context that makes it all meaningful.

Maybe for Rebels, pick some good one off episodes to get his interest, then see if he's more willing to watch the series as a whole. Maybe something like The Siege of Lothal, Trials of the Darksaber, or even hit him with Twin Suns.

I believe that the order of episodes is irrelevant. For example, season 1 starts after season 3 episode 3. Another example is the first episode of season 3, "Clone Cadets" leads to season 1 episode 5, "rookies", which in turn leads to season 3 episode 2 "ARC Troopers". That said, I think that the most significant episodes are in order.
1: The Wrong Jedi: This episode is important because it shows Ahsoka Tano leaving the Jedi Order. In season 7, Ahsoka goes on 1 final mission, in which order 66 is executed. If she had not left, she would most definitely have been in trouble, whether because of clones, or her old master Anakin. She would not have been able to influence the Rebels series.
2: Orders: This episode reveals the Kaminoan "inhibitor chip's" true purpose, as well as the death of by far the best character, Fives. May he remain in our hearts forever.
3: Senate Spy: This episode confirms the suspicion (of the characters) that the trade federation are separatists.
4: Carnage Of Krell: This episode is important because it reveals that even jedi masters can turn (I chose this episode over The Wrong Jedi because Barris was just a padawan).
5: Voices/Destiny: These episodes are important because they really support the entire original trilogy because Yoda learned how to live after death, becoming a force ghost. He passed that knowledge on to Obi-Wan, who led Luke to Yoda after becoming a force ghost.

I do think that Orders & The Wrong Jedi are the most important. Had Ahsoka stayed, I think she could have kept Anakin from falling to the dark side.

As for Orders, that episode and the entire arc is important. The Jedi were so close to discovering Palpatine's plot.

    R.I.P, Fives.

Most important episodes. Gosh, thats hard.

I would say one of them could be where Obi-Wan was “killed”. He became Raco Hardeen and deceived many, including Anakin. This showed how attached Anakin gets and at the end, it shows how the council lied to Anakin.

maybe one of them could be where we see Darth Maul back as he united with Savage Opress. This shows us that Mual isn’t dead and that he is more evil than ever now.

ill have to come back to this after i get some more thoughts down.

the Mortis arc got a bit abstract in a way, but it's still pretty important to see, and the one where maul takes Mandalore, other than those i agree with list people have put out so far.

Definitely the Mando episodes for sure. I think when maul took mandalore and killed the duchess. It was now up to Obi Wan. Great episodes there.

Unfortunately it is still valid. My brother is a punk and doesn't know what he's missing out on! Lol

Also, I did get a list of "most important episodes" to watch for Clone Wars and Rebels, which condenses The Clone Wars to about 1/3rd of the series and Rebels to about half the series.
