    Hello there,

I was finishing a watch-through of Ep I last night, and the P.O.V shots from C-3PO jumped out at me.

Other than perhaps a few shots of when a character is dialing in a shot on a screen--and maybe Jango before he pops Zam Wessel... we see no other P.O.V. shots.

It's a curious choice, and I wonder why there weren't more, and why Lucas chose that one spot to use it.

Does this count? Presumably Vader's POV?

It's still "a screen," in a way. There's no kinetic movement, but that's a good one.

There's also the shot of Luke flying the trench-run, and the Falcon zeroing in on the ties.

I remember finding weird this POV of C3P0 when I saw TPM back in 1999.

Looks like I have to rewatch TMP, I can't even remember which shot you're talking about.

When Anakin is saying goodbye to 3PO.

There are several "through a viewfinder" shots throughout the trilogy. Like when someone uses binoculars.

Also when the Jawas grab R2 there is a handheld POV shot from their perspective.

I wonder if it had something to do with Lucas' musing a few years back that the story of Star Wars is being told to us through R2-D2 and C-3PO.

The easier answer is probably, it was just a different camera angle that George thought looked cool at the time. :D

I'd argue that Luke looking past the Rancor, spoting the door at the other end of the pit, might qualify as a POV shot. (I can't finda picture)

I'll have to check that one out again, to see if it was.
