How do we know Palpatine is really dead?

A temple is more than a building. It's about what's going on inside of you. Palpatine is thrown out of the temple, down the tube to the bottom.

In legend, the first temple of the mysteries on Earth was built by the sheddai.

Say hello to your individual ego identity, to which you're attached, that has to be killed if you want to rid yourself of the emperor. This guy was riding with the beast, driving the vehicle (like Freck drove the vehicle) in which he was placed by chance. When Luke succeeded in ANH, he drove his own vehicle and connected to the Force, no longer the farm boy.

If Palpatine is still alive, I'll be through with anything set during or after the Sequel Trilogy. Because seeing Palpatine in "The Rise of Skywalker" was just ridiculous to me.

I just sacrificed a lot of time trying to write an explanation for Palpatine in a number of posts. Can you at least read it? If you disagree after that, that's fine.

I think what @DeeRush means is that the method chosen to bring the Emperor back was ridiculous.

In the PT Palpatine told Anakin that Darth Plagueis had known ways of prolonging life that were unnatural. It has long been believed that the Sith could not return as Force ghosts. But, someone like the Emperor, with his ancient knowledge, could have pulled it off. A FG version of Palpatine would have been far more credible, with Snoke as a former apprentice whose role would have been to 'groom' Kylo as a possible 'host' for Palpatine's spirit. Then along comes Rey, another powerful FS who Palpatine could have eyed up as another suitable host.

One of the many 'fake' leaks had this happen, and the Jedi Force ghosts all came together and destroyed Palpatine's evil spirit once and for all. I don't know if this was actually an idea they had and changed at the last minute, but it would have been a far better concept...bringing the Emperor back in the rotting flesh was ridiculous. And having Rey as his descendent still stuns me three years later. TROS was so badly put together it's hard to believe professionals wrote and created it.

If future SW material introduces an even bigger bad than Palpatine then he/she/they is/are conclusively vanquished, and not by any characters of the Skywalker Saga, then people will complain that the Skaga characters achievement has been overshadowed.
Trying to satisfy everyone's notions of what's canonically permissible is like sweeping leaves on a windy day. Palpatine is just the catalyst for conflict. He's an excuse to make things happen dramatically speaking.

One of the problems with TROS was they tried to please too many people.
'Fandom menace' hated TLJ Luke - quick about turn with saintly TROS Luke.
Fandom menace hated Rose - out she goes.
People complained that Snoke wasn't an interesting villain - bring back Palpatine.
People did not like 'reylo'...Ben Solo is killed off, and it's stressed that Rey felt nothing for him. Check. (the kiss was apparently a last minute DLF add on, which Abrams didn't want.)
TLJ got a LOT of moans from hardcore fans. Retconned.
Daisy Ridley and John Boyega wanted to work together more. Check.
People complained that Rey 'hadn't been trained'. Quick canon character change for Leia, who becomes Jedi Leia and trains Rey (also gives her lots of hugs).

Add to that Abrams didn't like 'sympathetic Kylo' so gives him back his mask and has him marching around like Darth Vader for most of the film, gives him a brief and rushed redemption for his fans, and gets him swiftly out of the way so Force Goddess Rey is in the spotlight, while Terrio achieves his dream of a Luke/Leia relationship by having them together as FGs with Rey Skywalker as their adopted child. Solos need not apply.;)

There's a difference between liking it and understanding it. The question is "How do we know Palpatine is really dead?" It has been answered. Star Wars is an occult allegory about the fall and rise of consciousness, and how that creates the world in which we live.

First symbol, Initiates of the Flame of the Sheddai, from Earth.
Second symbol, Jedi, from Star Wars.

You have to kill Palpatine inside of you.

    Regarding clones...(thanks Tolkien).
Eons ago when I was a kid, I remember my biology teacher telling all of us geeks that a clone is 100% a copy of the original...down to the last freckle. But...how the 'original' was 'born', not a clone of any injuries he/she might have gained along the way.

So...could Abrams and Terrio explain why the 'Snoke' clones in Palpatine's pickle jar on Exegol had ALL of his scars .....yet Palps's clone, Rey's dad, didn't bear the slightest resemblence to Young Sheev?

    Killing the baddy...
Here's another simpler occult allegory with a baddy that has to be put down by gathering a few friends. The author of the Wizard of Oz was a theosophist. The wicked witch only dies for Dorothy. We each have to put down our own inner wicked witch of the west. Dorothy means gift from god.
    Toto is her intuition.
The scarecrow is her mind. (Blue lightsaber)
The tin man is her heart and care. (Green lightsaber)
The lion is her power, will and courage. Action. (Yellow lightsaber)
The wizard does nothing for her. He's a fraud, and the externalization of the savior. The power is innate, inside of her.
When she encounters those three characters, she is going down the shaft-- exiting the temple. Mind, heart, will, leaving the witch of the east, the direction of sunrise, and going into the hands of the witch of the west in the direction of darkness. But she gathered those gifts along the way, and they melt her away.

Don't go where the Rainbow ends, Dorothy. It's a trap (ackbar)

The Emperor is indestructible, so it seems. Nothing would surprise me if a few years down the line he'll be back.

When they get to the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz, there's a sign that says the bell is broken. The fourth chakra, the heart chakra, is called anahata, meaning "unstruck." After the Emerald city, where courage and will is crowned king to go down into the animal world, they're told to go out into the lower chakras and get the broomstick from the witch in the west in the base world with the flying monkeys. In the Kenobi series, we're not going down the chakras into the lower world,. We're in the lower world, in the darkest darkness, headed upwards into the light. In ROTJ, Vader throws Palpatine down the chakras to the bottom. He's gone where the goblins go. Below, below, below.

    The crossing over point.

At the end of TROS, Rey is guarding the temple. The Skywalkers have risen.

Over the top of the chakras = over the rainbow. At the bottom = where the rainbow ends. Any Kubrick fans? Don't you want to go where the rainbow ends?

These are fascinating theories, Sheddai....but I genuinely wonder if there actually was a 'deeper meaning' to TROS...or simply Chris Terrio putting his eight year old self's fanfic on the big screen plus Abrams enjoying ruining everything Rian Johnson did.

Neither of them seem the type who would go for something truly spiritual, or even thought provoking.

There must have been involvement with the amazing Skywalker Ranch library for researching, and providing a rich meaning for Palpatine's "death." It just didn't play well for you. My head was spinning watching the movie. There's a lot I still do not understand about TROS. I have only watched it once. Suddenly I will have an epiphany and a scene makes total sense.
Like right now on these comments, as it relates to Palpatine's death, it clicked that the con man in the Kenobi series is like the wizard in the wizard of Oz, in reverse. That's really funny right? He has a Dorothy right in front of him, who has that power inside of him. Maybe we need to go back and see if he's wearing red shoes. The young man tells Kenobi, "You having trouble? There's a Jedi. He helps people." That's equal to Dorothy being told maybe the wizard can help you. Then the wizard turns out to be a con man. They're going up, away from Palpatine at the bottom of that rainbow.

You might want to look into this. Use your free-thinking mind. Not what you're told. Take care.

TROS strikes me as a film where those in power kept changing their minds every five minutes. Most of all, someone - probably Abrams - wanted the audience to accept that we must accept Rey, Rey, REY! as the principal hero, and that the rest were just background noise. You only have to look at how her character was treated to see this.
Palpatine, brought back at the last moment to give Rey Rey REY royal blood....and his once menacing character turned into a parody of himself who doesn't even know what he really wants!
Repeated hugs from Leia, thus reinforcing the idea that she had chosen Rey Rey REY as her 'true' heir. She even is willing to sacrifice her real son, as someone else here pointed out, to save Rey Rey REY.
Luke, the man who refused to ignore the ties of blood and kill his own father, telling Rey Rey REY that 'blood doesn't matter', a complete personality change for Luke in order to accommodate Rey Rey REY's heritage.
Kylo/Ben, who whether you hate him or not was the last of the heroes' line, treated as an afterthought in the Skywalker saga with no dialogue in the last 20 minutes where he is reduced to nothing more than a life force donor whose purpose is to sacrifice himself to give Rey Rey REY back to the galaxy ( quote from the novel). Completely forgotten, especially by his blood relatives, seen at the end smiling benevolently on Rey Rey REY, reduced to a creepy GoT style 'couple' complete with adopted surrogate daughter.
Finn, given his own story arc and love interest in TLJ, reduced to a groupie running around screaming Rey Rey REY every five minutes.
Poe, gushing about how 'wonderful a fighter' Rey Rey REY is, undergoing a complete personality and background change so he can follow Rey Rey REY around.

Rey Rey REY herself, elevated to such godhood that she is no longer at all relatable ...complete waste of a promising character and Daisy Ridley's talents as an actor.

The entire film little more than a showcase for one character, all of the others thrown by the wayside in order to promote her. They didn't do this with Leia and Han in the OT to push Luke - they didn't need to.

The whole film is so ludicrously a love fest to Rey Rey REY they might has well have not bothered with the rest of the cast. But at least I can still laugh...

If Palpatine wasn't cloned in order for him to return in TROS, some "clever-dick"s would be asking "So, how come the Sith didn't just clone themselves so they could replace themselves in the case of an emergency or something? Since they had the monopoly on cloning and were obsessed with self preservation and all that..." by now.
