Another rumored set of casting calls for The Acolyte has surfaced, hinting at details on two major characters for the upcoming Disney Plus series set toward the end of the High Republic Era. The show reportedly set to start filming in October of this year.

The Illuminerdi, who broke the scoop that Amandla Stenberg was cast as the lead character of the series (codenamed 'Aura'), have now returned with details on two other characters that will form the ensemble for The Acolyte. Here's what they know:
    • Paul: Male, White, 50 years old. The role is described as a series regular, but only needed for one season.
    • Miri: Female, Black, 8-10 years old. The role is described as a lead guest star, with Lucasfilm possibly looking for identical twins to portray the character.
Paul's cast listing is particularly interesting in that it implies multiple seasons might be planned for The Acolyte. The listing for twins to portray Miri most likely indicates that she will have an abundance of scenes and that casting two twin actresses to play the same character can serve as a means to get around legal restrictions with how long child actors can film per day.

According to The Illuminerdi's report, the Leslye Headland developed series will film from October 2022 through May 2023. It's possible that the other rumored High Republic Era show, codenamed 'Grammar Rodeo', will begin filming first, given the rapid movement on that production. Hopefully we'll get some official updates from Lucasfilm on The Acolyte at Star Wars Celebration, which could sort out some of these rumors regarding cast and production.

Relatively little is known about The Acolyte aside from the basic premise, which indicates that the show will be 'a mystery thriller that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic era', a period of time that is believed to have ended 50 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. It's been noted that the series will have a focus on female characters, martial arts, and it is heavily speculated to involve the Nightsisters, a group of female followers of the Dark Side of the Force, or perhaps the Sith, who have been in hiding during the time it takes place. It remains to be seen if characters tied to the movies - like Darth Plagueis, the Sith Lord who would one day teach the man who would become Emperor Sheev Palpatine - could appear.

The Acolyte is in development for Disney Plus. Lucasfilm's current slate of Disney Plus projects include the animated movie A Droid Story, the forthcoming shows Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ahsoka, and Lando, the ongoing shows The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, and apparently a number of other things that have yet to be announced.
