15,500 BBY, Spinoff film story idea

I'd like to see that, the costumes back then will be great, if this is the time period were lightsabers debuted it would be great.

 

Certainly one of the better ideas for a pre-PT film. It would be nice to see their take on it, and perhaps see if they carried things over like the battery packs and unreliability, as well as use of more standard melee weapons at that.

 

I would love to see at least one movie (preferably a trilogy) of the KOTOR era. I think it is by far the best story in all of the star wars EU.

 

Now if I was to do a film based on the origins of the Lightsaber... I would probably do something very bold, and ditch the idea thattehy were created by the jedi...

and instead give them a sith origin... show them born as a weapon of war...

 

I've always hated that the origin of the Sith Lords was moved from 25,000 BBY to 7000 BBY just because Kreia mentioned Tulak Hord using a lightsaber. I really hope that for canon stories they go back to the 25,000 BBY origin should they choose to maintain the Great Schism/Sith species origin story for the Sith Lords. I'm perfectly cool with the origin of the lightsaber getting moved to 25,000 BBY to account for this.

 

I think the sith should be formed as an order, but the Massassi should come back as essentially being physically identical to SWTORS purebloods.... andthey should be the original legions of soldiers that served under the sith... physically mutated to be superior in combat.

It seems that they want to compress the timeline to about 7000/8000 years though.

 

Why do you think that?

 

Because that is the general timeperiod of ancienty stuffs that is being referenced in canon. (with a thousand or so years added to give time for the Old Republic, Sith, and Jedi to be founded. )

 

The Sith Wars would make a great film. A flashback or prologue showing the creation of the order, the Jedi using more standard weaponry, the discovery of lightsaber tech and the struggles (scientific and personal) to harness and replicate that power etc

 

Or going back to the time, and show that battle which was portrait on that Wall relief in the Chancellors Quarters on Coruscant in Episode 3.

I would absolutely love to see an Anthology film set in the Old Republic Era. Early lightsabers would definitely be cool to see. I would love to see an epic battle between the Sith and Jedi in the style of the battle of Helms Deep from The Lord of the Rings films. You could have an outnumbered force of Jedi and Republic troops holding of a horde of Sith and Mandalorians, with the odd giant Sithspawn creation added to the mix for siege purposes. Go one step further and let Peter Jackson direct the movie, provided he uses CGI only when necessary like in his first LotR trilogy.

 

Hmm..this would be my take on it:
The sith created the lightsaber.They expand and want to take over the galaxy.Planets and systems have no chance to defend from such advanced weaponry(maybe let the have those bad-ass droids from the ,,Hope" trailer of TOR).Then one/few of the sith guys see the error of their ways and create what later would be the Jedi Order.The film doesn't have to show the Jedi defeating ALL of the Sith.It could show how they found the rules(no vengence, no attachments and so on).It could end with the Jedi defeating some sith guys(maybe 2 in a duel or a space battle).My take on it has a lot of flaws but it's just a concept.

 

The Jedi being a splinter faction of the sith is an interesting idea, but it has already been established in canon that the sith splintered off the jedi... and that was one of George Lucas' ideas appearently.

 

So the Sith are a splinter faction of the Jedi.Funny that George Lucas had that idea and Disney wiped out ALL of the canon . Officially NOTHING is canon in the 25,000 BBY time. If George stated that the Sith were a splinter group of the Jedi it's weird they at least make some novels to make it canon.Maybe a novel or even a movie in the future?

He's talking about the Dark, or fallen, Jedi who eventually conquered the Sith and adopted their name. Thank you, Wookieepedia, for my EU education! What I'm unclear on is where that is now still canon, though. Is it because George said it? (That would be enough for me).

 

There is no sith species in the new canon, just the sith order.
