They haven't actually confirmed whether or not there is a Sith species in new canon, they haven't said that there is such a species, but they haven't said that there isn't either. It seems likely that the Sith will no longer be a species in the new canon, interestingly however, the Massassi have been made canon in the Ultimate Star Wars book, so at least part of the old Sith legacy lives on.

its fun that some of you guys like the idea.
im not an expert in star wars history but i can tell you that a 15 000 bby story could give us a chance to explore that galaxy under a less technological point of view. we could see things from the perspective of primitive planets who never had any contact with high tech spaceships like that nibiru scene in into darkness. we could explore a different style of story telling not in terms of prequel material but simply because there is so much to explore.

I might have dreamt this, but didn't Disney state somewhere that they were not looking into exploring pre-PT Star Wars for the foreseeable future, although they might at some point after the current projects have run their course?

If anything happens in the time way way before Ep. 1, I prefer the idea of a videogame. That's what made KOTOR fit so well; you could make a ton of decisions in that game that had a lot of the weight you get in an original IP RPG, and it could simply be explained away by the thousands of years that would erode the effects of those decisions before Ep. 1. imo it's the best place to put a Star Wars RPG if they were to do one. (fingers crossed for a Bioware KOTOR reboot)

No, it hasn't been. Just because George intended it in 1999 doesn't mean it's canon.

This would be a risky move, but if pulled off it could change the formula for Star Wars movies forever

I think it would alienate the star wars fans even more because it could either be something special or something really generic .
