Which version of the clone wars do you prefer? The 2003 micro-series or the 2008 animated series?

Me personally i like the 2003 clone wars better because it fits better with the prequel films has better continuity and a better story.

TCW animated series because it made the PT even better and introduced so many of my favourite characters.

There is no wrong answer though, they're both amazing and have their pros and cons.

The 2008 series. The short 5 to 15 minute clips of the 2003 show made me mad and not wanting to watch it every week (back when they first aired). It felt like a tease, so it was a turn off and the 2008 show made them irrelevant anyways.

That's fair but they did get longer as they went on and as far as TCW making the micro-series irrelevant at this point yeah but back when TCW first came out the micro-series was still canon and was technically canon until 2014 it was C canon and TCW was T canon C canon was above T canon.

    The newer series.

The Samurai Jack version just feels to me like the side of Star Wars that I kind of resent now.

Sure, there are cool moments, but I cannot help but think it highlights the Dragon Ball Z-ness of the Jedi a bit too much. Like, I feel like it (along with stuff like The Force Unleashed) are part of the reason people wouldn't let go of things like Rey's power level, or thought Luke was weak for what he did at Crait.

Of course there's nothing wrong with liking the Gennedy version (and I do like even some of the more Dragon Ball stuff in it) but I really don't feel like it captures what Star Wars is about very well. It's just kinda mindless, meaningless fun, which is always fine too.

It had some great sequences... Grievous, for example, stalking the Jedi made him seem far more dangerous than his cinematic appearances to me.
Dooku training Ventress and the Jedi desperately trying to protect Chancellor Palpatine were great too.

I take your point about the D-Z style depiction though, it's a comparison which I hadn't drawn, but fits really well. Like Durge was a bit too Manga for me, but the episode with Windu vs the battledroids was all kinds of cool

Yeah, that's one of the action scenes that really worked for me. If anyone benefits from CW 2003, it's Windu for sure. He was also pretty cool in the Battle of Coruscant (the Vulture droid shenanigans were pretty neat).

I prefer ‘08 Clone Wars over ‘03 Clone Wars, largely for the same reasons as @cawatrooper stated.

I also just prefer the ’08 series because I prefer the portrayals of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme, etc. in that show. The iterations of the characters in the ‘03 series is more in-line with their portrayal in the films and, well, I’m not a big fan of those versions of the characters lol.

The Clone Wars ‘08 also has Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano (two of my favorite characters) and feels more like classic, swashbuckling Star Wars storytelling in my opinion. Not to say that I dislike Clone Wars ‘03, I just don’t care for it as much as some of the other shows we’ve gotten since.
