I am done with the NFL. They decided to betray their own country and the bowed down to Mother Great Britain. SCREW THEM! They have no respect for our country, and OUR TROOPS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR US! SO THAT WE MAY LIVE FREE. HOW DARE THEY! They get payed millions of dollars a year because of our country! And our troops only get payed a tiny fraction of what they get and their blood is being spilled. Guess what? I’m a Jags fan! NOT ANYMORE. They are a disgrace to my city, state, country and to the human race! SCREW THEM!

But I want to say Thank you to Alejandro Villanueva of the Steelers for not giving in to the evil and hatred that has infected the NFL.

He is a real hero. He stood up for what was right and he loves our country. Mr. Villanueva is also an Army Veteran. Thank you for your service sir! God bless you!

And kudos to anyone else in the NFL that is resisting this hateful movement! We are rooting for you guys!

Until NFL cuts this crap out. I will not be watching games or buying products that sponsor them! Who’s with me?

I am embarrassed at my knee-jerk reaction yesterday because it is not typically how I operate. Please let it be known that it was not my intention to stir up any level of division. Yesterday I was heated and came in with a stern statement condemning the league. What we need to remember is that in this we are dealing with neighbors and co-workers who have very strong opinions in the matter one-way or another. My stance is that I do not condone any divisive behavior and I apologize for my part in bringing it here.

To add, it there is absolutely no value in ranting and arguing if there is no attempt to reach a solution and me being right and you being proven wrong is NOT a good solution. A boycott is only a personal solution and while that may be temporarily effective, it by no means is a solution that addresses all of the concerns.

    The concerns are:
    1. Many NFL athletes (and the folks that support them) feel that the best way to bring attention to racial inequality is to kneel, sit for or forego the National Anthem.
    2. A large portion of Americans truly believe that the way this right is being exercised is absolutely disrespectful.
We have two opposing forces with very legitimate concerns and the only outcome so far is increased division by both sides with neither willing to budge on their stance. This is were we need to move forward and open legitimate discussion. We need to not shun each other or shut each other out. So, this is a plea to the community to not follow my previous example. I STILL do not advocate for the protests to remain over the flag and Anthem, but let's drop the anger and understand that just because we don't understand why another person/persons is hurting, does not mean that they are not hurting and are not deserving of a voice.

We will never heal by way of division and anger.

    Really ?

From the outiside world, seeing the President of the United States calling people walking with nazi flags "Nice guys" and black athletes "Son of B....s" is very disturbing.

I have no example of a president of a country calling hiw fellow citizens Son of B***** it is just under the bottom low of presidential.

    Sad!

I'm by no means a n NFL fan (I have barely any idea what American football is about) but the NFL match in London let me see possibly the greatest fan of a praticular team I've ever seen. He wore a Houston Texans' hat (with artificial bullhorns,) a shirt covered in their logos as well as socks and trousers covered in them. I had to control myself and not to sare at him too much or I would seem like some kind of a creeper. Fans of football teams do commit quite a bit in preparing for their teams' matches, but never as much as this guy.

Enough! Let's cut this out right now. If you want to holler political screeds at somebody, do it elsewhere. The Cantina is absolutely not the forum for this.

    Stop.

I liked it better when a man could hate another man simply by his choice of teams. We don't need this other mess. :p

YEP, @DEKKA129 has spoken twice above about this, now I'm here as well over it. Shall we just delete this entire thread and start suspending members because they choose to ignore the staff?? It's your choice...

Just to chime in...I didn't see anything particularly offensive being posted. This story is relevant to a thread called "2017 NFL Season". Why can't it be discussed as long as it stays cool? (I just realized how idealistic that was...these things never stay cool for long) So I get it, but maybe we could wait for someone to cross the line before shutting it down. Cantina folks are generally a pretty benign bunch.

On the NFL in, I'm a Cowboys fan, but I've got a bad feeling about them this year. I think losing Romo's wise whisperings in Dak's ear is showing. Next weeks game with Packers will be a true test of they're shaky defense and Dak's skills. I hope I'm wrong!....I usually am.

It's one of those things that seems to have a very low flash point with most of the participants in the discussion having drawn a hard line and won't relent until that they believe they have won. I have been part of a Seahawks community online for almost 12 years now and there are some long-time members tearing each other apart over it. I would appreciate it if folks that wanted to further the discussion with me or others to do so in PMs or to even make a thread about it. I never meant to toss a wedge into this place.

Have you gotten a chance to listen to Romo call games this year? He's pretty good at it and I guarantee that there is a lot of folks that have any idea at what level his Football IQ is. He's entertaining.

As for Dak, gotta give him room to grow. He's still young and has at least another year before he'll feel fully comfortable in the game. He's proven that he has the skill set. From here it's all up to coaching and who he surrounds himself with. So long as he stays humble, he will develop well.

Hmmmm this brings up another point. Thee so called "Lo Raitings".

Heres what i think is the main reasons.

    1. Same teams at the top, middle & bottom w/ predictable seasons year after year.

    2. Other forms of media. Each younger gen. seems 2 b less interested in traditional sports.

    3. Failure of the recently moved 2 LA teams.

    4. Games becoming 2 long. Many hours 2 play a 1 hour game frankly blows.

    5. "Anticts" of certain players on & off field.

    6. Plain disgust of the NFL hype machine.
