    STAR WARS NFL PICK 'EM VI
    The Return of the Pickers​

    This is a game in which you choose Star Wars inspired NFL teams that will win each weekend's matchup. At the end of the season, the player with the most points will be our winner. @Alamact is our returning PICK 'EM CHAMP... will he grab two in a row, or are there contenders for the crown among us??

    Buy-in is a one time 100 credit fee. To play, please transfer 100 credits to @Wuher with the note: STAR WARS PICK 'EM.

    Premise:
    During the regular season, we pick 7 pre-set matchups weekly from the NFL's 2019-2020 schedule. At the end of the regular season we will move on to playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl. When we get to the playoffs we up the ante and make games worth more, with a slightly different format. For the Super Bowl we also have some more fun and include some prop bets as bonus points. Checking out last year's thread is a good way to see how it was done, if you want to know specifics!

    All are welcome to join! It doesn't matter whether you are a newcomer or an avid fan, anything can happen in this game!

    The person who has the most points following the Super Bowl will win a 1000 credit pot and the PICK 'EM VI game ball trophy! Last year we developed a special trophy that can be customized to your favorite team's color scheme, or just your favorite colors. Either way, it's a trophy that is 100% unique to you!


    Rules:
    Regular Season:
    • Players choose the winner of 7 pre-set match ups; each week we will pick the primetime games (Thursday Night, Sunday Night, and Monday Night) as well as 4 games from the early schedule on Sunday that look to be the most intriguing / closest match ups.
    • I will disclose the games to be picked on Tuesday of each week.
    • Please be sure to submit your picks before each game begins. Since we will always be picking the Thursday games, I suggest to have all your picks in by the start of that game (Thursday 8:30 PM EST). If you're indecisive like me, you're more than welcome to change your picks of the other games at any time provided you do so before they begin. (We can see when and how a post is edited, so no cheating please!)
    • Each winning pick is worth 1 point. Pick all 7 games correctly and you get 7 points for the week. Pick 5 and you get 5, etc. Picking incorrectly does not count against you.
    Playoffs:
    • Same premise; pick the winner of each game
    • Additionally, assign a confidence point value to each pick; in a week where there are 4 games to choose from, you would designate your most confident pick with 4, then 3, 2, and 1 accordingly. (A perfect week is worth 10 points in total)
    • Conference Championship picks are worth 15 points each

    Super Bowl:
    • The winning pick is worth 25 points.
    • In the event of a tie, the player choosing the final score that is closest to the actual score will determine the winner.
    • Prop bets will be included as bonus. (Each correct bet worth a 0.5 bonus)


    The Standings will be updated weekly on Tuesday.

    It really is. In a good way, mostly!

    The NFL season officially kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 5th with the Packers @ Bears, and then a full slate Sunday and two Monday night games.

    Yay! Can't wait to beat Al's admirable rear this time around. :D
    In light of recent developments I don't think the Troopers/Lightsabers are gonna be a fun match up so I would like to put the Dugs/Twi'leks game and the Sith/Greedos game forward as my suggestions.

    The most interesting match-up for me this week by far.

    The Rams are coming off their Super Bowl loss and a less-than-stellar preseason performance where they just barely succeeded in scoring the magic 43 points needed to guarantee the possibility of winning in the postseason this year (the Jaguars being the only team failing to do so). While I don't think that Goff's stock should have tanked as much as it did after his performance against the Patriots, the team has lost some depth during the off-season which could have a chance to dull that stellar offense this year.

    The Super Bowl loss came as a culmination of a season-long effort to find a way to stop that same stellar offense - started by the Lions, finished by the Bears and perfected by the Patriots - but you'd be a fool not to think Sean McVay wouldn't make some valuable adjustments to counter that. I'll be surprised if last season's blueprint on how to stop the Rams played a big factor this year.

    On the other hand, you've got a healthy Cam Newton coming back with more offensive weapons than he's ever had in his career. The whole thing will come down to how well the offensive line can keep Aaron Donald from having his way with Cam because - if preseason told us anything for the Panthers and their quarterback room - it's that the whole thing is undeniably riding on his shoulder.

    I'm endorsing this game's nomination!
