I doubt they'd go all cloverfield on the movie but it feels to me that it's meant to be shot as a real-time war movie so there will definitely be some shaky-cam work but I don't think it will be so bad

    I'll probably do 3D on opening night/day!
TFA was pretty good in RealD3d Large format! IMO

I'm going with 2D first just like I did with TFA. As others have said I like 2D first so I can better focus on the story and not miss anything. I'll likely go back and see it in 3D, although I've never been a big fan of 3D

the only reason i do 2D atm is because of my house in California has a 2d capable hdtv bcause of when i got it unlike my house in texas but it still shouldnt matter with 3d/23 because if it's about the story then it should distract from it .

That's a really good point... I didn't think of that. Another goal for 2D in my opinion. ;)

Me and a friend of mine have a tradition of seeing movies Thursday night in IMAX 3D. But after that I just go 2D.

I first saw TFA in 3D with my brother. And like a few have mentioned here, there were a few places (such as the blaster bolt on Jakku and flying with the Millennium Falcon up to Luke's island) where it was definitely worth it seeing it in 3D. But the rest were just distractions, or I didn't even notice it. Plus, I wear glasses, so the 3D glasses balance awkwardly in front of my actual glasses.

On my 2nd viewing with my fiancé, we went with 2D, because the 3D hurts her eyes. I appreciated being able to pay attention to the story details I missed, without being distracted by the 3D effects.

All-in-all, I really don't care for 3D, but there are definitely some scenes that are dramatically enhanced by 3D! So, I may see it once in 3D, but any other viewing(s) will probably be in 2D.

This is why I'll be sticking to 2D. 3D has a tendency to give me migraines, which is something I very much wish to avoid.

It's official for me. I'll be seeing R1 in 2D, Dolby Atmos on opening night.. Then at some point on to the IMAX 3D and lastly IMAX 2D (70 mm) at the Ind. State Museum.

I'm really glad my first viewing of TFA was in IMAX 3D. I'd never expected it to be this good, and for the first time the 3D wasn't as anoying as previous films. For Rogue one I'm going for IMAX 3D again. I can see it on 2D for the rest of my life.............

I am doing 2D first to take it all in without having the glasses on. Then I"ll catch it in 3D to see the difference.

I saw TFA in 3D IMAX a couple days after I saw it in 2D. It was amazing but I feel like IMAX is definitely overhyped. Maybe it is because I saw it in 2D first? I dunno.

Either way, I'm going to see Rogue One in 3D IMAX too.
