Do you have anything else to add, besides a lecture?

Do you have anything else to add other than another post complaining about people talking about something that you don't want them to talk about? That really helps forward the conversation after all.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed Lucas killed off Kit Fisto like he was some Padewon. He was one of the cooler Jedis. Especially on the Clone Wars cartoons.

Oh, I don't mind you talking about it. Just don't expect me to agree with you. Apparently, this is what you demand. And you're not going to get what you want.

Another straw man argument I see. No where have I ever tried to force you to agree with me. I simply break down your arguments when they don't make any sense. In this case I simply pointed out the pointlessness of complaining about people who continue to discuss something that you think has been thoroughly discussed. Such statements are even more pointless when you complain and do nothing to further the conversation yourself.

In actuality, it's quite obvious based on your posting history that it gets under your skin whenever people point out perceived flaws in the PT, oftentimes leading to you making remarks like you did here and trying to shut the conversation down. You're entitled to love the PT all you like of course, but being so thin skinned about other people's problems with it is unproductive.

Not quite. How I feel is essentially this-

Imagine a car chase scene in a movie. Only, instead of the cars goint really fast, they're going about 40 mph on a long, straight, empty road- and it's glaringly obvious how slow they're going on film. You might think "come on, floor it, you can get away!" but then a fan of the movie says "well, even though it looks like they're going slow, the lore of the film is that they're actually going really fast. It's just poorly shot."

There's no doubt that Palpatine could have easily defeated some Jedi- you don't become the dark master of the Sith for nothing. The problem is, that's not what the film shows. If we're supposed to see cars going fast, show us that! If we're supposed to see a superior Sith warrior, show us that! Film is a very visual medium- skimping out on that simply does not work, and creates rough scenes like this.

So no, I don't think that Palpatine was incapable of taking on the Jedi- I just think he was incapable of doing it as we were shown.

McDiarmid's acting during the scene was pretty terrible as well, which didn't help sell it at all. His eye lines, facial expressions, body language.......all terrible and laughable.

Doesn't mean it was good. This

Is just bad. That fight is one the worst, if not the worst, in Star Wars because of the silly faces he makes and uncomfortable way he moves and holds his weapon

The one of the bottom right is the worst - the way he his olding the lightsaber and his eye-line makes him looking like hes fighting a giant. Why is he holding his lightsaber SO high and looking even higher? Whats up there?

No his acting is great - I would say something like "it looks funny in stills but dramatic in motion/context", but that's not even true; most of them look exploitable at worst.

This is such an old meme, and for some reason all those reposting it happen to be really smug and really tone-deaf - maybe it's coincidental.

    Agreed.
Palpatine is the Emperor, and the Emperor never handles a lightsaber in the OT. The Emperor works with force lightnings.

Well it is well described in the novelization of Episode III written by Matthew Stover - I urge you to read this book, it is FAR the best among the 7 novelizations. This book is a must-have. ;)
The saber hiding place is visible in the film, it is right on Palpatine's desk, and M. Stover gives in the book the reason how it worked to hide the saber from everybody, even the Jedis.

Agreed. Their death - AS IT IT SHOWN IN EPISODE III - is an insult to them and to their past.
In the same way, Padme's death is an insult to any pregnant wife: I've carried my baby for 9 monthes, I believed there was just one but in fact, they were twins, but my boyfriend has turned evil, so ciao-bye-bye everybody, good luck to the babies, I quit. We all know *any* new mother in that case would have just ONE obsession: protect the newborn from the mad dad, whatever the price to pay.

Agreed. Just a blur on Palpatine's movements would have saved all of this, showing us that "demoniac smile" after every Jedi killed.

I've heard that too, in a ytb video explaining "how palpatine defeated the jedis".
Must admit that this is not obvious at first glance!

Totally disagree here. Paply jumped up, spun in the air and sliced down three jedi who barely moved at ALL to defend themselves. I'm not going to in any way try to justify this scene and I don't see how anyone can. It was point blank terrible. I could better believe that the three jedi we're simply suicidal and wanted to die than I could the fact that they we're defending themselves against Palpatine.

I always thought it would have been more imposing to see Palpatine use other Force powers to freeze, throw, and electrocute the Jedi, rather than use a lightsaber.

That would have worked and been just as imposing, as well as make Windu look more like the bada$$ muthafka that he should have been in momentarily defeating and/or at least successfully defending against Sheev.

The CGI affects were pretty terrible and didn't fit Palpatine at all either. There is a part were he does a flip onto a lamp or something then flips off - it looks they shrunk him down to 3 feet to make the room for him. Plus it doesn't fit the character we've seen for 3 movies to flipping around.

Some like Vader's scene at the end of Rogue one would have made a lot more sense for Palpatine.

The flip in question is at 1:37 (Mace leaving himself open at 1:06 is pretty stupid too)

One silver lining is that it sort of works as "payback" for TPM. I mean, when Obi-Wan is using telekinesis on Qui-Gon's lightsaber, Darth Maul had about a year and a half to plan a counterattack, but he just remains practically dumbstruck.

Yeah, the scene screams, to me: Lack of Effort.

Maybe it was filmed right before lunch hour and the coffee machine broke down in the morning.

Haha I actually didn't mind Palpatines corky behavior during the whole fight. He was fine to me. :)
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 23, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 23, 2017 ---
Certainly just as bad or worse. haha That fight was so rad too.. Sucks that it ended with Obi-Wan getting punked then leaping over Maul slowly catching a lightsaber...Igniting the lightsaber....Pulling back the lightsaber and finally swinging it through a frozen Maul's torso. lol

I don't mind if he looks or acts cocky, but he looks like a clown. Look at the video I posted above and go the flip clip I singled out. In the next show he is holding his lightsaber very awakwardly and looking UP - what the hell is he looking at?
