RUMOR 3-minute Rogue One trailer to premier on ABC on July 15th

It's to show what R1 is doing with its story .

 

Plus to rest any more bad press about reshoots...."see, see everyone, everything is just fine. no problems here"

 

I don't believe the trailer will be 3 mins long. I think there will be 30 seconds of lead up before showing a 2.5 min trailer....I am guessing anyway.

 

Well that would mean the trailer would last 2:30 min not 2.5

Haha in all seriousness I can see the Rogue One teaser having an introduction and being longer because I think Rogue One has to explain its own context as opposed to 'Hi, this is Star Wars Episode XYZ'. Rogue One's marketing has a different challenge in creating it's own image from scratch... kind of.

In short, I think a 2:30 min trailer is feasible.

Exactly. Few opening seconds of black. Flash of action. Black. And then end with epicness followed by 15 more seconds of black trailing off...

 

Or maybe a quick intro into the trailer ?

 

Will there be a piano led music track though...?

 

Probably,.I'm guessing a slowed down piano version of Imperial March, black screen, with Vader's breathing.

 

For 3 whole minutes ?

 

NO! that would suck. I mean shot of usual stuff, few flashes of new scenes, but finishing with the dark screen and the Vader breathing. But, even the TFA trailer with the Luke voiceover had a lot of black screen shots, to mixup the action scenes. I just hope they don't have that annoying Inception/Dub step sound that every trailer uses now.

 

They'll do Death Star/Dub Step instead .

I think this one will be more traditional than the first teaser .

 

Lucasfilm knows better. There won't be inception sounds. We're good. Everything's fine. We're good now. How are you?

It's almost inevitable unfortunately. It was my least favorite thing about the teaser.

Trailers need a new paradigm.

 

Hiddleston is a real person, unlike Vader. Do you mean James Earl Jones? Whoever is new in the suit won't excite anyone. Celebration will also have 100s of Vaders, so having a corporate sponsored nobody won't be very impressive.

 

As long as I see a Vader similar in height to the original and his movements are close to that of David Prowse and Hayden Christensen, I am not that worried. We have a Vader suit and James Earl Jones returning so all you need now are the Vader-like movements in the suit. No worries people. Anyone that tall can take a class on Vader's movements and play him in the film. It'll be a polished Vader like we've never seen before.

 

I'm pretty sure it would match consdering the amount of time they've probably pent on training and casting...no word yet on whether the actor knows if his lines are being recast

I doubt they would pull a David Prowse and not tell them that. I figure they knew walking in that James Earl Jones was going to be voicing the role on top of them.

 

Just an observation: I'm finding it kind of odd that some of the online response to the length of the trailer has been "don't spoil the movie". Are some people really assuming there is some groundbreaking canon that will take place between III and IV? IMO, they should market this movie as heavily as possible and basically keep nothing back. So for example, are people really going to freak out when spoiler reviews come out and we find out they get the plans and send them off to leia? What do people consider a "spoiler" in RO?
