Anybody else buy a buttload of the new toys in the 90s thinking they would be worth something someday?

I've got a couple tubs full of figures in pakage that are worth exactly what I paid for them 20 years ago haha.

I started collecting '95's Power of the Force red card line and didn't slow down until The Clone Wars. I'll start up again with Episode VII, but enjoy everything I have.

I have collected many POTF especially Red Carded.

At the end of the day I guess we collect them because we enjoy it. There has only been an increase in some, I have most of the rare figures, they are only worth what someone will pay for them, i can't bring myself to part with them yet

    Hello Ceruleanlord

I am most proud of my Bobba's there is one variant I need and still searching, but have the others.

I am really interested to see what Hasbro will put out for next line. Hasbro has confirmed Bobba Fett line for 2016 I believe. So if you have any Bobbas hold on to them.

Boba Fett's cult following will always make his collectables desirable. The number of variant clonetroopers is what I concentrated my collecting to from The Revenge of the Sith line through The Clone Wars line, and few beyond. I have 350 pieces from The Power of the Force 2 line (1995-1999) which ended with the release of The Phantom Menace. One of my favorite pieces is the 12-inch electronic Boba Fett. electronic boba fett.jpg

I bought quite a bit, but fortunately I got in early and was able to get the variations which are worth a little more than the regulars. Course I had so much I couldn't store it anymore and sold almost everything off. Everything except for my Han Solo collection of course. :D

Man! My collection is kid's stuff compared to some of yous guys'. I've got maybe fifty PotF redcards. A Han blaster, and the Falcon (both opened!). I probably could've got twice as many but I almost always bought two of each. (one for play and one for display haha).

edit: Oh yeah, and a ATST...couldn't help myself I had to open that one too. Cool toy.

I would say most of my collection is the power of the force line, I am no were near done completing it. I wasn't able to start getting most of these until I got my first job about 10 years ago. I have to say even though they are not worth much I like them because of nostalgia. This was the line that was around when I was a kid so I just love collecting them. Side note if any of you have extra's or are looking to trade let me know

I have been collecting POTF red and green carded since 95. I tend to focus on the rare ones, though I also collect the figures of characters I like for nostalgia. In Australia I still pay decent prices to people if they have a rare figure as there are not as many as in the US. I held myself back from the Black Series but now sort of regret it as these are really nice looking figures. I can't bring myself to take mine out of packets is the problem. I had many 80's figures I used to play with as a kid and later used for displays, on shelves etc. I lost lots of weapons and capes, but I think we all did in those days.

The Red Carded POTF have been fun given the number of rare figures with the change to Hasbro. I have a Bobba who was valued as $500.00 about ten years ago but I just like having them because they are rare. Jedi Luke with brown vest is still one of my fav's though, he's a little rare!

Used to LOVE getting those mail away figures. I never did do the Boba Fett one, but my first was Bossk. Totally cool to get that in the mail before Empire opened. The other ones if I remember right were 4-LOM/Zuckuss (they had the names messed up), Admiral Ackbar, The Emperor. I'm sure there were others too. Remember those little white boxes. Just a lot of fun as a kid!

Everybody loves the Fett indeed. If I were Mr Moss I would have done the same thing. Except placed the box in a star case first!!

They still bring a smile to my face also. Although it was somewhat of a conspiracy having to destroy five cards to get a figure. I once got Nien Numb sent out, after destroying 5 cards, and then got the same figure for Xmas. Luckily my sister was nice enough to turn all the destroyed cards into images in a star-ship she built for me. That was cool.

:) Same here I had three or four Nien Numb figures. you had to collect the tokens of Cereal Boxes, but you always got the same figure. I remember a few of them got mangled by He-Man and friends!

From the 90's mail away line the B'omarr Monk, Cantina Musician (Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes), and Spirit of Obi-Wan were boxed this way. Later the Oola and Salacious Crumb, Muftak and Kabe, and Sneak Preview Mace Windu were boxed and a white sleeve put over it.

Yes. I had all of those 90's ones. I had to eat like two boxes of Froot Loops to send away for the Han Solo in stormtrooper disguise. One of my all-time favorite figures.

For the original I remember sending away for an Emperor figure.

I forgot about that one, That was the first one I believe.

Anakin Skywalker was a mail away in the 80's POTF line. That is why there are not that many carded versions of him.

Ahh.. the Emperor one of the only figures that stood up on its own leg due to chunky robe legs.

He-Man stood no chance against that bad boy.

I had tons of the 90's action figures. They tended to face off against Ninja Turtles , the Justice League, Captain America, Spider-man, X-Men, the crew of the Enterprise (TNG), and Beast Wars Transformers :)

Oh OK. In the 80's you had to collect five bar codes from the boxes the figures came in or five tokens from the boxes. Then you would send away to Kenner and get a figure in a box. As I said the tragedy was destroying all the cards to get the figure. But when were we kids who could resist hey, that's when we actually took the figures out of the boxes and played with them (im sure most of us can relate)..
