I think it's a shame that Snoke turned out as a sort of Palpatine 2.0 ... they are two old and ugly white "men". I would have loved it if Snoke was a "real" alien ...
It's no use, crying over spilt milk.

I feel that may be going a little deep into the interpretation of what they said. Just my opinion though. I took it more as what we saw was filmed but trailers are not cut in a linear fashion. Also, until the final cut is made and they are able to see the final product, they will not know what actually makes it into the film.

If the plan all along was to have Palpatine return, they may not have wanted a more interesting villian upstage him. Snoke looks like a reanimated corpse which begs the question, was he really another entity or was he a puppet? Did ol Sheev forsee Kylo turning on him and that's when he would reappear?

I think we all need to remember how the teaser material from TFA had us all thinking Rey was a Skywalker ("you have that power too" from the trailer anyone?) and Finn was a Jedi.

If Palpatine is coming Bach then Snoke was part of his plan.

Having watched the interview during which the cast commented on whether or not the Teaser had been cut to be deliberately misleading, the way they answered the question in terms of their vocal cadence and body language is more important than what they actually said and is what leads me to believe the sincerity of their answers more than anything else.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I agree. I can't see them replacing Jedi with "Skywalkers." Uh, no. LFL has already been trashed for what, almost 18 months about "being disrespectful" and all of that (a discussion I am certainly NOT trying to dredge up). Getting rid of the Jedi completely would be silly and would totally trash Return of the Jedi. Not happening. I could see "Skywalker" being a title, say of the "prime" or lead Jedi, but yeah, they aren't gonna drop it. So yeah, totally agree, they are going backward to move forward. Plus JJ has said he wants to tie it all together.

I have to say that I'm excited about IX. I loved TFA and I was happy to hear JJ was coming back. Looks like, so far at least, that faith has been repaid and will be repaid.

Just a couple of things I noted in the thread: 1. Are we sure Kylo is flying that TIE? Personally it feels like they WANT you to think he is, so I'm not sure it is him. 2. Someone said Kylo was taking out "rebel" scum... Look at that scene again. Looks like he is taking out a fellow Knight of Ren. I don't know for sure, but in that still shot it really doesn't look like a rebel or resistance member to me.

Well no one is firing at her and in another shot (the one with Finn and Poe) Finn has her Staff. Also there was a "leaked" (shown to the IX Celebration panel audience, but not to the livestream) fan still of Kylo ( he doesn't have his helmet on) with similar lighting as the flipping TIE shot.

I've watched it over and over again.. there is no way of knowing who he is taking down. i'm with you though - i don't think that's a rebel fighter.

I think it's worth noting that he doesn't have his helmet on. Also, in Revenge Anakin still had his blue saber during the Obi-Wan duel. It could be a #It'sLikePoetry reference. That's him being Ben Solo and not Kylo Ren.

If they were writing about your mother's family, and included you because you are part of it, it would make sense, I'm afraid.

Could be Hux in the Tie. Him and Poe also wear a lot of gloves.

those are not Hux's gloves. they aren't Poe's gloves either.
they're either Ren's gloves or a new character altogether (another Ren, Zorii?) who is wearing gloves that match Ren's exactly.

at the end of the day the TLJ trailers were all what you see is what you get.
we're the ones making a convoluted guessing game of them.
at Celebration we saw a picture of Ren flying a craft (same setting as in the teaser, it appears).
it makes sense it would be Ren and those are definitely Ren's gloves even if other people might have similar ones.
as @NinjaRen said, you can even see his chest and cape behind the gloves in the teaser.
the two sequences might not actually map up in the final film the way it's shown in the teaser, but it's most likely Ren Ben in the fighter.

Poe wears a pilot style glove so if its a training thing than its Poe. Hux wants the power so he could lift a set of Ren's gloves. I totally know its Kylo flying it but the speculation is the fun part. Hux pretending to be Kylo to distract her then getting cut down.

I'm once again going to bring up the fact that all 8 of the cast members who participated in the TROS panel gave an on-camera "sit-down" interview during which they flat-out stated that they did not believe that the Teaser trailer was cut to be deliberately misleading.

People are tripping over themselves to 'dissect' the Teaser with the presumption that the things that were shown in it were not presented in a straightforward fashion and yet we have cast members from the film itself stating otherwise based on their intimate knowledge of the film.

True. The problem is, people are misleading themselves into thinking that the Tie in the teaser is Kylo's ship from TLJ. However, Kylo's ship looks completely different.
The ship in the teaser is a FO Tie Interceptor (just like the FO Tie Fighter from TFA), which could be piloted by anybody.

I don’t think that guy is one of the KOR.
I think he is one member of so called CLAN (as for TFA’s script) that Kylo and the KNOR attack in Rey’s vision.
Basically my take is that we’re going to see that vision “happening” in ep. IX

Just because it's not Kylo's TIE Silencer doesn't mean he's not the one piloting it.
    --- Double Post Merged, Apr 18, 2019, Original Post Date: Apr 18, 2019 ---
My belief that it's a Knight of Ren that Kylo is taking down initially stemmed from some spoilers I have seen, but the interview I've referred to has only cemented that interpretation for me.

I wonder what the Knights of Ren fly... what if they're being chased or hunted by them? The cut of the gloves could be Kylo, but not of him flying the silencer we see. Could the red on the exterior be a faction or military division signifier?

Palpatine and perhaps his master brought unbalance to the Force by attempting to use it for true immortality. To exist in the Force and reality at the same time thus never being permanently dead. Anakin was either created intentionally to be used in his plan for immortality (my favorite theory) or the Force created the Skywalkers to rise up and meet the dark wound Palpatine created through his efforts. Palpatine sensed a powerful dark presence in the outer regions that I believe was preventing Palpatine from drawing enough power to achieve his goal. Anakin May be there to boost Palpatines power or perhaps there to ultimately kill that Dark presence Snoke. Palpatine had the back up plan, bound himself to something in death and wait for the Empire remnants sent to the outer regions to draw snoke into the known galaxy where the Skywalkers would kill him thus releasing enough dark force to reanimate himself out of the death star artifact.

Palpatine could see into but not enter the World Beyond Worlds, so he could see past present and future, and learn to change things through actions in the present.

I don’t think his original plan was to die and wait 30 years but I do think it was his back up plan to rid the Galaxy of his Darkside equal Snoke so he could become immortal.

Lastly, I think the KOR were secretly there to ensure the Skywalkers succeeded in killing Snoke. They were remnants of Palpatines time.
