Now just FYI I havent watched 2nd episode yet. Will do this evening when family is together to watch.

With that out of the way 1st episode was excellent, but was a little bothered that it was what 38 minutes. Then see that 2nd episode is 33 minutes. This is a little concerning to me. Really though we would have a long form close to 8 hour story. Looks like it will be about half that length if the short episodes continue. Now I dont know if we were ever told to expect about 1 hour per episode, but strongly feel it was implied. Still can be excellent of course, but expectations were different.

It was only implied because that's what we've been conditioned to by other shows.
I'd rather the episodes be shorter than have bloat.

At the pace it's currently going an hour would be exhausting imo.

Pilots are always weirdly paced because they have to set everything up. That being the case I still loved it and I hope we get longer episodes down the line!

What it really makes me fear is that we are just getting a movie stretched out a little and broken up into basically half hour episodes. Of course we wont know until the whole thing is over.

It'd still be longer than most movies. But again, I'd rather that than a bloated series where you could do without 1/3 of the season.

Even at 30 minutes, episode 2 is kind of a bloat episode designed to extend the story.

I'd rather they have the freedom to make the best possible episode instead of having to rush anything or drag it out to meet a timeframe.

You bring up a curious point!

It would be an interesting experience if “they” made each episode as short or long as it needed to be in order to present each section of story in a way they wished to present it. (Without rushing or stretch). ...Ranging from 1/2 hour long episodes to 1.5 hr long episodes.
...The same way that chapters in a book vary on length.

I was originally concerned by that as well. But I think they are, as the titles suggest, not doing episodes but instead "chapters." So the run times might vary greatly, instead of conforming to the standard 22/44 minute length of your typical TV show.

I also tried to think how I would make the episodes longer, and I really couldn't think of anything good. The stories are a bit short, but they are tight and the pacing is quite good.

I disagree with ep2 being bloat. There were multiple events that set up the emotional connection between Mando and babyoda. There will come a time where something happens or a decision needs to be made and the action will rest on that emotional connection. I’m fine with them taking time to establish what I think will be one of the if not the foundational relationship of the show.

I have a feeling all the episodes will run 30-35 minutes. I am okay with this because the whole series is from the perspective of the Mandalorian. You don't see any other Character's story lines happening. Usually with television dramas you have the main character's plot line running along the episode with sub character's plot lines. The sub character plot lines are what fills in the hour for streaming shows and 45 minutes for Network and other cable shows. I have a feeling that Obi Wan series and Cassian Andor series might follow in this direction. I can see the Obi Wan Kenobi series have 30 minute episode, since the script was originally written for the big screen (This would make a 3 hour movie). I am thoroughly enjoying this live action Star Wars show.

Which isnt what we were expecting from TV. We have expected long form story telling. Really develop characters deeply, time for exposition, time for backstory. Stuff like that which can be tricky to do in a movie. Dont just want a movie cut up into 6-8 episodes with a little extra filler and credits to pad length.

I hope that the Chapter idea is true and maybe we get some longer episodes to even the whole thing out.

As far as we know. We could potentially stay with him the whole time but we could also meet our B-story protagonist in episode 3 or 4. Some of Marvel's Netflix shows like Punisher would take an episode or two to get going for our A-story protagonist and then introduce the B-story protagonist whose arc runs parallel to and then diverges/collides with the A-story.

The thing I'm enjoying about this story so far is that it has a strong legacy of genre media that it draws from but its story/trajectory is not revealing itself yet. We have a sense of conflict and what may happen but nothing is certain yet. I have a feeling we may meet a character with links to Mando's past or with a similar past to him. That character will at first be his ally but then will cause him to make a difficult choice about Babyoda or about what he believes.

does anyone knows how long will be the third chapter? I know it was premiered for some audience. Since I don't want to know what happen in the chapter I do would like to know how long it will be ;)

I don’t know why that person gave you a “pessimistic” Darth Maul label. That is also a legitimate fear of mine: far less story and plot.
