Future Star Wars movies may have found a new studio to call home for filming/production. After a tease by Formula Money on Twitter, it is possible an announcement could come as soon as this week, that future Star Wars and other Disney live action movies may have a new permanent studio location in London.

Formula Money, a media outlet best known for covering all things F1 racing, have teased that a big splash is coming soon regarding Star Wars and Disney live action movies.

Christian Sylt, writer and reporter, has additionally provided hints as a supplement to this tweet to steer fans in the direction of what the 'splash' might be about. So let's take a look at what he has shared so far.

Okay so the news is about the movies, past and future. It's about the business side of the movies, so it isn't breaking any news on writers, casts, directors, titles, or anything from a creative standpoint. This appears to be strictly about the business side of things - production and studios.

'The code word is E & E', this is where it gets interesting. You may recall last fall our friends at Fantha Tracks reported on names of limited production companies being established in the UK. At the time they had written:

I did some digging to find more specifics about this limited company E & E industries, and the results are interesting. First off, the established 'Nature of Business' is  code 59111 - 'Motion picture production activities', so as you may have gathered, movies. Now on to the names attached to the company, and their roles:

Ilene Lorraine Aultman, aka Lori Aultman: Vice President, Finance & Planning, Lucasfilm, Ltd.

Russell John Haywood: Assistant Regional Counsel, Walt Disney Studios

Rhonda Thomas Hjort: Deputy Chief Counsel, Lucasfilm

All three were also listed on the filings for Carbonado Industries Limited (UK), which was the limited company name used for trIXie aka Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

This is where the business part steers me into believing it is about a new studio location for future films. Sylt, via Formula Money, said that while it's about the movies, it's about the financial aspect of them, and something he has written about before. He also specifically uses the word 'billions' in regards to the headline.

I looked up previous Star Wars reports/articles from Christian Sylt regarding Disney business and its positive effect in the UK, one of which he wrote for Forbes called 'Star Wars Is A Billion-Dollar Blockbuster For Britain', in which he says:

This leads me to believe that an announcement could be coming that future Star Wars theatrical films and other Disney live action movies may have a new permanent production home in the UK. There are many new studios being built in the area in and around London. One of the high-end possibilities that would certainly make a 'big splash' is the new Pinewood Studios' expansion. Netflix signed a 10 year lease on the existing Shepperton Studios lot, however Pinewood is expanding Shepperton by another 16 sound stages on a recently purchased 100 acre lot and were looking for a single partner to occupy them- so Disney could be that partner.

Star Wars has expanded to a lot of mediums, with Disney+ live action television series taking the franchise into new paths of storytelling, but Star Wars will always be a blockbuster movie franchise first, and future productions heading to a new massive studio home would serve as a significant reminder of that fact. We may be saying goodbye to the Skywalker's in a few months, but we will be saying hello to a new era in Star Wars films over the next decade and beyond.

Please keep in mind, this is an educated guess on our part based on all of the information gathered. Either way, we will find out when an official announcement arrives as soon as this week. As always we will update you with all of the facts and official information about this when it hits.

Below is the video of me talking about this story on our YouTube channel. This was recorded over the weekend, a bit before I fleshed out more of the information, but it still gives you a good grasp of the idea behind the story. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for additional SWNN content every week.

    UPDATE:

A reader has notified us that in April, MakingStarWars.net reported that the Cassian Andor series and Benioff and Weiss films might be filmed at a new location in Dagenham, outside of Pinewood. Considering their track record, this makes this all the more interesting, and hopefully we hear an official announcement on this story soon.

Sure... that makes sense. Why would they have access to a Star Wars news piece in the first place?

    E & E ?

    Elstree Studios, Ealing Studios ?

Elstree Studios is currently owned by the BBC, but Elstree was where principal photography for the OT took place between 1976-1982 when it was owned by EMI. There is a sound stage at Elstree called the George Lucas Stage, which is Stage 1.

    Ealing Studios
are where all the classic British "Ealing Comedy" films, such as "The Ladykillers" were made.

i’m Not sure what to make of this news. There are a few things that jump into mind:

    1) Disney is making a new production company because they’re about to ramp up the number of Star Wars films, or

    2) Disney fears there will be another bomb, so opening a new studio in England will soften the blow if there is a bomb, or

    3) this new company will handle a certain type of Star Wars? is it possible they will be doing just live action tv shows?

Either way, this is exciting and I can’t wait to hear the official press release. I am, like the rest of us, hoping Disney will reveals more tidbits more future projects.

It makes sense Lucasfilm will expand by making a separate studio for certain Star Wars projects. I’m surprised they haven’t Done it yet. I was actually hoping they’d open a studio in the US. (didn’t they do some filming for solo Nevada or somewhere cheap?) I also heard that other film studios were mad that Disney has been hogging up Pinewood for the last few years.

I'm interested (amused and appalled) to learn what Disney regards as "London", as no Star Wars film has ever been filmed in London. Except for ONE small scene in Rogue One.

English Star Wars filming locations not in London:
Bovingdon Airfield (Bovingdon, Hertfordshire) - RO
Derwentwater (Lake District National Park, Cumbria) - TFA
Elstree Strudios (Borehamwood, Hertfordshire) - ANH, TESB, ROTJ, AOTC, ROTS
Ivinghoe Beacon (Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire) - TROS
Leavesden Studios (Leavesden, Hertfordshire) - TPM
Pinewood Studios (Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire) - TFA, RO, TLJ, SOLO, TROS
Puzzlewood (Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire) - TFA
RAF Cardington (Cardington, Bedfordshire) - ANH, RO
RAF Greenham Common (Greenham Common, Berkshire) - TFA
Shepperton Stuidios (Shepperton, Surrey) - ANH, ROTS,
Thirlmere (Lake District National Park, Cumbria) - TFA
Whippendell Woods (Watford, Hertfordshire) - TPM

    London:
Canary Wharf Underground Station (Isle of Dogs, Greater London) - RO
