Okay, I don't want to prodyce more threads than there needs to be created and since the season premiere is coming soon, I thought it was a right time to create a general thread for Resistance where you can talk about the show and some minor bits of news. Like today's topic, the first actual clip from the show, courtesy of IGN. I like what I'm seeing! The characters are exressive, issues relatable, the artstyle is unique. I really do not understand the hatred it gets.

Nice piece of footage! It looks good, the pacing is nice and it uses a small amount of exposition to tell a lot about characters and their situation, which is very good.

Some people are just so much stuck in this "fans vs Disney" war they have in their heads, that they are just incapable of enjoying the franchise anymore. Which is sad, but nothing really new. Let's at least watch the pilot, before making any conclusions. I personally look forward to seeing it.

First clip of Bobby Moynihan's character, Orka:

Fun Fact! In Polish, "orka" means either "plowing" or "killer whale."

PS. Another thought - I like the design of this bird-alien.

i feel like we've seen that little bird-guy alien species before? either way, i love it! : D

the toys for this series already look great too.
don't quite love the stormtrooper or BB-8 design, but the other characters look amazing as figures so far!

I really like Resistance through four episodes. It’s a unique experience and perspective on Star Wars. I like the animation, setting, and characters, especially Yeager. The New Republic x-wings and NR symbol were so awesome. Then you have Kaz. The worst character by far. An unintelligent, bumbling, loud attempt to add humor and plot to the show, but only making me wish he’d fall off the Colossus so we can follow a serious, productive, and sophisticated leader. I’m struggling to watch just because he exists, but the background and other amazing characters keep it good for me.

About Kaz - despite what some... fans want you to believe, people at Disney actually listen to feedback. How do I know this? Notice how the goofiest faces Kaz makes were cut from the episodes (like when he was hit with a tray in Ep.01). While Kaz's goofines and lack of experience would go away due to his development, I am sure that the showrunners would reduce that even further in subsequent seasons.

I watched the first episode. Exactly what I expected from the first teaser. I am not in the target demo. It is obviously aimed at kids and has little to appeal to an adult. That is not a slight to the show and I am sure it has a lot to offer the kids who watch the show. I will just wait for the Mando.

I suppose it's not for all adults, to each their own.

For me, the experience was the exact opposite. I was wishy washy after the trailer, but once I watched the first episode I really started enjoying it. And yes, I am an adult. Most of the time. :D

I can understand not liking the show. I mean, there's no accounting for taste. I reject the idea that it's only for kids though. It's right in line with the the original episode of Rebels. The pilot lays out the scenario of Kaz's Dad getting blown up on Hosnian Prime. The complete annihilation of a planet is dark matter for a show "just aimed at kids."

It is on Disney's current streaming app and on Hulu. You can also rent it at $2.99 per episode on Amazon.

So, at least for me, it appears that I bought the season for $2.99 on Amazon. I still don't know if this was a fluke or not, but so far I've paid $2.99 and new episodes keep being added for me as they release.

That was for HD, you can also get them for $1.99 in SD.

Aw man, it's free on Hulu??

I think it is more for kids than previous animated series but I’ll give it a chance to mature.

I'm going to keep watching and I like the show, but I've been feeling pretty cynical about Resistance this weekend. I keep comparing (*gasp* the cardinal sin) to other animated shows like Avatar, Korra, The Dragon Prince, Voltron, etc in my head and I can't help but feel like something is missing. I get it, this show will mature in time. But at the same time, shows like Justice League, Avatar, and The Dragon Prince didn't need that time to mature. They simply started out as they were. I feel like this is because Resistance is a show for "kids" instead of "all ages". But in making a show for kids, Star Wars not only offends its older audience, it makes a show that once I finish, I frankly won't want to go back and re-watch. The cartoons I rewatch handle mature issues in ways that kids could understand but never insult their intelligence. To me, Resistance works best when it crosses the line twice (betting on Kaz's life when he's trying to escape the tower, accidentally killing a monkey lizard when firing a warning shot).

This isn't saying Resistance isn't doing some stuff well; and I understand Kaz and his struggles. I just feel like show is going for simple instead of simplified if that makes sense. And this weekend for some reason, it annoys me.

After seeing that the 2nd half of this season overlaps TFA what does season 2 look like and how many seasons do you think Resistance will have. I cant see it having many more then 2 seasons.

Season 1 ends I expect with the attack on Hosnian Prime. So season 2 1st hald assuming a September release will overlap the remainder of TFA and TLJ. Then provide some lead up to Episode 9. Then Episode 9 comes out. Assuming Resistance/Rebellion wins out in Ep9 what would storyline possibly be going forward?

I am looking over here now! ;)

Of course it will really depend on what goes down with the Colossus itself, whether it survives this ST "war"... and whatever Kaz decides he wants to do with his life--whether pilot, spy, or *cough* mechanic. Really, though, I can't see Kaz staying on the Colossus as a full-time pilot or (Force forbid) a mechanic once the FO is vanquished, which it presumably will be, at least in its present form, after IX. He is so idealistic I would think he would move on to try to make a difference on a larger scale...and since after IX I also presume that the Resistance as it is will no longer be needed either, I would think that would be the end of the show. Kaz might move on to politics or something to follow his father's path (and Leia's) but I doubt we'd get a cartoon about that.

However, there will always be conflict in the GFFA, so I wouldn't put it past the folks at LFL to come up with some other task for Kaz...
