It's primarily due to it being summer. During summer time, two things happen at the Cantina: Ordinary activity decreases while bot invasions explode and (bored) trolls come out of hiding.

That, and reactions to TBB has been positive across the board, meaning there's little controversy and fake outrage attached to it.

For the record, TBB has so far remained the most consistently great and plot-relevant SW animation show to date. Just fantastic stuff, this, where even "filler" episodes have lots of purpose :)

I’m a little confused on the point of choice versus programming with regard to clones right now. There was a strangely large number of ‘conscientious objectors’ in this episode and zero attention paid to it. That struck me as oddly inconsistent.

I've heard two hypothesis: 1. There were no Jedi on Ryloth during Order 66 so their chips weren't activated (this one seems flimsy) and 2. The chips' "potency" are wearing off, thus the desire for enlisted stormtroopers. I don't know if either holds water. Just what I've heard speculated.

Oh I’m sure there’s a way to internally justify the logic of it. It’s just that it was only a few episodes ago that our loveable oaf was fully prepared to beat a child (who he loves) to death because the influence of the chip was too much for him to reject. He didn’t have a choice. He had to follow orders. The central conflict presented with Crosshair is that his murderous actions aren’t truly his choice. He has to follow orders.

‘Free will versus obedience’ is a huge theme in this show. A surprising number of clones chose not to be “good soldiers” and “follow orders” though. I’m totally fine if there’s instances of the chip being less effective or whatever, it’s just super odd that it wasn’t at least acknowledged. The core theme of the series was breached and no one even commented on it. Seemed worth at least a mention, y’know?

Anywhoozle, good episode. It’s always fun to see the proto-rebellion taking its baby steps through the perspective of our cast.

I agree that this was a little odd. But I also think it’s worth noting that, when the troopers were depicted as showing compassion or objections, the people they were dealing with were not Jedi.

Order 66 made them go postal on Jedi. I don’t think it made them go postal on everyone. They’re still trying to convince the galaxy as a whole that they’re the good guys.

No, not everyone, just people they considered “traitors”. The Jedi were targeted because they were traitors. Clone Force 99 was targeted because they were traitors. Wrecker was willing to wring Omega’s little neck because she was lending aid to traitors. That’s the trigger that’s presented to set them off.

Howzer refusing to follow orders, and encouraging others to do the same, would also make him a traitor. Wouldn’t it? But no perceivable reaction from the troops? I’m not calling shenanigans or anything. It’s just strangely out of concert with what’s been presented so far. I'm confused and wondering if it was intentional or not.

Great episode ''Infested''. Congrats to Tom Taylorson returning to voice Roland Durand after voicing Agent Raith in Star Wars Resistance.

I enjoyed the new ep as well. Seems it's been getting less than stellar reviews, some people referring to it as filler. I didn't see it that way. Was a fun new ep and made me like the main characters even more

i personally think infested was setting up later story telling with underworld syndicates. I think Cid was foreshadowing a war between certain syndicates and collectives. Possibly introducing a phantom menace character into the series. Trying to be spoiler free by not naming names.

Completely agree. There were a lot of episodes in Rebels that seemed like filler but had a later payoff.

I think we’re still working towards what the point of BB is. I can see where this episode may pay off later.

I also generally enjoy these characters and like following them on their missions.

I just don't think the characters are any good. Zero chemistry between any of the Bad Batch team mates. Zero personality, too. The only character with personality is Cid and let's face it, the personality is obnoxious. There's really no one in this show whose death would do anything to me emotionally.

But the artwork is amazing, the fight scenes are fun, and the ship designs are cool.

I'm enjoying the series as whole, but the this show is underwhelming. I get that some episodes are being used as a stepping stone for future stories but it seems like that's the case for most of the episodes of this season and that's not a good thing. The series is starting off slower than TCW and Rebels. By the 2nd half of the first season of Rebels, we're starting to know "end game" of the first season, we haven't reached that point for this series. I'm honestly getting The Resistance series vibes with this series in terms of story telling. I'm still waiting to see what the payoff of the first season is about.

it was an interesting episode, that seemed to shed some insight to underworld type characters.

Overall, a fun episode. I think it suffered from unfortunately following an episode that deliberately set up a major conflict that’s been lingering since the pilot. Had this maybe aired after the Raxus episode, I think it would be more well received.

Everything said here sums up I feel. I’m just not feeling the Star Wars magic here and I feel like this show hasn’t done nearly as good of a job developing the characters, or at least making me somewhat care about them, as the other animated series.

I think I’m just going to save the rest of the series to binge watch when it’s over because it’s just not holding my attention. And that’s okay! I’m probably just spoiled from binge watching all of TCW Seasons 1-6 at home from my own leisure. This show just wasn’t for me and all I can do is hope that The Book of Boba Fett will be more up my alley!

Even though I've been staying up to date with the show, I'm a bit late responding to the thread here. This is my first time posting in a while. Hello again fellow Cantina mates! :D

I think part of the issue some people had with "Infested" was simply that, yeah, it did come off a bit underwhelming and lower-stakes compared to the Ryloth two-parter, which by the way were my two favourite episodes up to this point. :) But beyond that, "Infested" was a fine episode, imo. It does indeed seem like it's setting up something that'll become more relevant later on. But even that aside, I'm okay if it's merely a 'filler' episode. I get the complaints people have about filler, but it doesn't bother me personally. I like seeing the characters go off on random mini-adventures inbetween the main story arcs.

The Bad Batch themselves didn't really stand out that much to me in TCW, but I'm pleased to say that they've all since grown on me. Hunter is probably my favourite out of everyone.

I’m getting a bit tired of them always using the stun setting. I got it for awhile because they viewed the other clones chasing them as brothers so they didn’t want to hurt them even if it meant they were fighting with a hand tied behind their backs.

I think I when they found out the troopers in this episode weren’t clones, they should have had a “we’re not messing around any more” moment and switched back to normal setting.

Personally, I like the (apparent) choice to stun and then to commit to it. I just wish they’d had an explicit conversation about it and connected directly to the themes of the story rather than an oddly unspoken hint. Episode 8, they’re shooting their “brothers” dead. Episode 10, they’re all avoiding fatal shots. Would have been nice to actually call that out and make it part of the text.
