Looking forward to more Sophie Thatcher after reading her interview. I believe her character was modeled from the old Star Wars fighting game Masters of Teras Kasi, Arden Lyn. Teras Kasi is the fighting style Qi'ra uses in Solo.

It would be cool if the Black Sun crime syndicate made an appearance... Prince Xizor.

Looking forward to chapter 4, the flashback with Tusken's chief death was moving

Whether fans are aware of who her character was modeled after or not, I think most people liked her and her attitude. Despite Fennic Shand and Boba's badass Gamorrean guards, it was Sophie Thatcher's character who first steppin in to defend her boss against the Black Krrsantan.

Agreed -- especially when it was followed by the funeral pyre scene where Boba threw the chief's gaffi stick into the fire.

What actually got me even more was when Boba then reached inside his clock and pulled out the kid's pretend gaffi stick and threw it on the fire. That was quite emotional.

Boba already has Slave-1 at the beginning of the show, even though we haven't seen it. He had it back in The Mandalorian when he got his armor back on Tython. I want to see how he got it back. Is it before he found Fennec or after? Speaking of that, how did he get Fennec all fixed up with mechanical innards? If he found her on his bantha, I doubt she'd survive a slow, bumpy bantha ride to someplace that could fix her up. I'm thinking he must of had Slave-1 at that point or at least a speeder.

We must be careful not to fall victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is: Never get involved in a turf war on Tatooine, but only slightly less well-known is this: Never go in against a bantha-riding Mandalorian with a sharp stick when death is on the line.

On a side note, any fans of Thatcher should check out her feature film debut - Prospect - staring opposite Pedro Pascal, nonetheless. It's a small scifi flick with a nothing-budget ("less than $4 million"), so don't expect a roller coaster of effects, but they did get a lot of milage out of their money and effort, and the film is decent enough (89% on Rotten Tomatoes, in case that means anything to anyone). I saw it on a whim at film festival a few years back, and found it to be well worth a watch :)

I like this one a lot, especially for the movie's dedication to the details of its setting. This universe seems like a worn-down, lived-in society you're only glimpsing a tiny slice of.

Does anybody have a BOBF ringtone and wallpaper? I realized I don't but use the Mandalorian theme and have Din wallpapers whenever a season starts.

Not a bad thing and doesn't mean anything but it's just something I noticed when being on my phone

It seems to me that an alarming proportion of fans can only perceive Boba Fett in terms of a "Chuck Norris" meme. And they resent being unable to predict what he will or won't do in that context.

Robert Rodriguez wasn't a poor director when he reintroduced Fett in The Tragedy. But now that we've seen a few episodes of TBoBF directed by him and "critics" need to scratch their itches, it seems that a lot of us are experts on "good" direction (i.e. noticed that there are similarities in his episodes they can't really articulate but need to sound like they are discerning and not just petulant)

Some of the criticism reminds me of that story Nic Meyer told about writing Star Trek II. Everyone seemed to be pleased with the story but then Bill Shatner started to become dissatisfied and said that the script would need to be entirely redone. It was all wrong. Won't work. Meyer was perplexed. He thought he'd pulled it off. Everyone was excited. Now he's got a full rewrite to do! But after he spoke to Shatner he realised that almost all of Bill's problems were all about who gets to walk through a door first in a scene. That type of thing. Meyer made some tiny corrections in the space of an evening. Shatner read it and called him a genius. Myers clarifies that he did not find Shatner to be an egotistical person, except in relation to the character of Kirk about which he was quite protective. I think fans are this way about characters too. But in this case it's a character that's in their minds or been formed by disparate spin off materials and merchandise. Rather than a character whose personality had been revealed on screen before.

Oh it reminds me, it was the same for the Luke when TFA was announced/came out, wasn't it ?
It seemed that every single SW fan was waiting for an über-badass Luke.

I was fairly confident that the whole dream/flashback device was integral to the development of this show from the beginning. And I'm sure that it was at least in some small way. Now though, I'm not so sure that it has worked out as intended. The bacta tank seems to have been always in there. But the non-linear nature of the storytelling I think has become more important as the show was developed. I sense that they felt the audience would not tolerate waiting four episodes before we ever see Fett in his armour again (Mando did it in one show). And considering how some fans have still been very uncomfortable with being made to watch Boba struggle as a fish out of water rather than affirming all their fantasy bad-ass preconceptions, they were no wrong to do that.

I have a feeling that it won't be long after the final chapter of TBoBF streams before we will see fan-edited linear versions of the show.

I agree with your assessment that Favreau felt he couldn’t go four episodes before telling us about Boba’s real-time experience on Tatooine in a linear fashion. After the tease of crime boss Boba with Fennec at his side, the whole Tusken Raider plot — as cool as it was — would have frustrated more fans than the past to present back-and-forth has generated for some.

Favreau is known for plotting his TV series well in advance. For example, we were made aware that he knew he wanted Luke Skywalker to make an appearance in Mando Season 2 before the first episode was aired of Mando Season 1.

My gut is also telling me Favreau plotted out Season 1 of TBoBF backwards. He knew how he wanted it to end — and worked backwards from there to the Sarlacc Pit.

I am generalizing which I hate to do, but I feel that the buzz and criticism surrounding Fett for the past few decades has gone roughly like this:

1983(-2018): Fett went out like a chump! He's not really dead, right? Right?!?

2002: An army of Fetts!!! By the way, Boba does escape that Sarlacc... right??!

2019: A new show called The Mandalorian??? So this confirms Fett is alive?? I can't wait to see how!!

2020: Okay so turns out that show wasn't about him but anyways there he is now, HE LIVES! But how?!?!

2022: ....Yeah yeah we get it he is alive, crawled out of the sarlacc, has to get his stuff back, okay just show me how he smacks those Pykes.

I meant to post this earlier in the week but couldn't remember where I saw it or who said it, but finally found it:
I don't think I've ever seen an episode so masterfully crafted to appease one specific post as this was.

@Obi5Kenobi I can only imagine you loved the chapter this week, and please message me if you see any lottery numbers flashing in your mind. Thanks!!

I did love chapter 4, but I've loved the whole thing. You are right! Not only did it answer everything I was wondering, it also destroyed some of my preconceptions! I guess Fennec DID survive a slow, bumpy bantha ride to the nearest settlement.

    @DarthSnow I'm seeing some lottery numbers..... it's clearing up, I see....... 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Good luck!

From the beginning of the series, I was holding my breath for when the time came for the show to explain how Boba saved Fennec.

The fact is that Favreau originally planned to kill off Fennec in Mando S1:Ep5 but then Jon and Dave made an eleventh hour decision to save her. Given the fact: 1) she had survived by somehow becoming part-cyborg and 2) Boba found her body out in the desert, how she survived a point-blank shooting was always going to be a major stretch. But you can get away with it in a comic book story as long as the explanation isn't TOO unbelievable (Star Wars-wise)

Having introduced the 'mod squad' in Episode 3, having Boba take her to a "Mod Parlor" in Episode 4 was actually a much better explanation than I was expecting we'd get before the series started. No matter what some of us thought about the Cyber bikers or the Mod Parlor, I think one thing we can all agree on: The series definitely benefits from having Ming-na Wen co-starring as Master Assassin, Fennec Shand no matter what explanation we were given for her miraculous recovery. :)

I was thinking and realized that while I've always been into Boba Fett between the original films, books, comics, video games and shows..he wasn't and still isn't one of my main top star wars characters and in his own show, my favorite characters on it are Black Krrsantan and Fennec.

Not that it's a bad thing as I'm still a fan but I just find it interesting that whether he's ruthless boba or embracing his new change, still has his awesome armor and ship, etc there's something about him that only keeps me to interest to an extent.

I'm intrigued by his story and how the season will end but find myself wanting to see Black Krrsantan and Fennec get more of the spotlight. I'm also more interested in side characters like the Tuskens, Pykes and Garsa Fwip plus who may show up in the finale.

If there's a 2nd season, cool! But if not then I cant say I'd be all that bummed out about it and would be okay if Boba just guest stars on Mandalorian

Man, two episodes left and I still don’t really give a damn whether or not this wannabe tyrant lives or dies.

I’m hoping the finale ends with all these scumbag gangsters killing each other off and the people of Tatooine able to run free elections. My Magic 8 Ball says “outlook not so good” though.
