Give me your pitch for Episode X

Episode 10 will happen. Been there, heard all the denials before.
All I want is a good story...nothing recycled.

Everyone assumes Rey's kids will be Jedi but she's a Palpatine first and foremost.
Its plausible Rey might subconsciously have sheev's memories b/c she is the descendant of his failed clone....memories which could be passed on to her kid(s).
A son having flashbacks could led him to the dark side and set off to resurrect/clone Sheev (younger version) b/c clones is a major SW theme.
Rey chasing kid gives herself to the darkside in order to save him. Empress Palpatine just like Sheev foresaw.

Decades of unrest since the fall of the Republic would be put aside when Thrawn, Ezra and the whale return from the unknown regions with a warning of an imminent danger to the Galaxy.

 

I sort of like this! I'd totally accept if this happened.

The problem I have with this part is that it feels like Kylo Ren Part 2. "My grandfather/great-grandfather is evil, so I must be evil! Never mind that my mother/father/uncle/etc is a Jedi and my other parent is a war hero! I need to be EVIL."
Kylo was a decent, if incredibly disjointed, attempt; but I think we should let that trope rest for a moment. If we're going to have someone go "from nobody to Nightmare," let's make it someone not related to our heroes.



I think I'm going to end up combining the Knights of Ren mythic storyline with the Dark Origin Story of Luka Skywalker's friend. Now, I have them doing relief work on Exogul when they find the remains of the ancient Sith temple. An attack of some kind leaves Luka out of commission and her friend trapped in the temple, where s/he learns to build a lightsaber, and then s/he goes on a journey to rebuild the Knights of Ren.

The friend is the main protagonist in this trilogy, and absolutely a villain.

To add to this, I'd like to see the Followers of the Whills come back into play. I'm not sure if it'll be with Luka being a member of that group instead of a Jedi, or entirely new characters. All I know is that I want to end Episode XII with the Dark Side Knights of Ren, a neutral side knight group, and the Light Side Jedi Knights.

 

I would have it set in a period when the new republic is thriving. Rey has re-built the Jedi, but she has had problems with a number of them turning to the dark side, Episode 10 would be her tracking them down with some of her trained Jedi before they could disrupt the peace in the galaxy, in order to do this though Rey dabbles in the Dark side her self.

Episode 11, Would be Rey becoming frustrated with the bureaucracy of the republic and starting to believe she could go better and asserting more and more authority over the republic government that she tells her self is for the greater good. She has also become obsessed with Darkside relics, of her grandfather and his tutor Plagues. At the same time, the galaxy is turning against force users after her rogue students had caused chaos in episode 10. Reys Jedi temple is attacked. And Rey Irrate ceases control of the senate. Some of her Jedi students go with her but a few resist saying it is wrong, the films ends with Rey succumbing to the Dark side and demanding her descending students killed, a couple are, but a few escape.

Episode 12 Starts with Rey asserting her control over the Galaxy with her loyal pupils while her few remaining rogue students are on the run both from Rey and the general population of the galaxy who have grown to hate Jedi. After Rey order, an attack on Naboo after the people their resist her rule, in a desperate attempt to help Naboo and prove to the galaxy that not all Jedi are evil the few remaining good Jedi runs to the aid of the planet where they are forced to confront Rey and her fellow now Dark Jedi.

 

There are so many possibilities for a great 3rd trilogy story line. Reading a lot of quality posts I can honestly say there are probably more creative people (story wise) here than working at LF.

For EPX I'd go w/ what's established within the "Skywalker world" and leave the "make it my own" stuff to RJ's trilogy.

If I had to go canon or "legends" I'd look into adapting the Zhan trilogy to the ST characters.

Top of my head... a forgotten Sith fleet (pre-Bane) returns from the unknown region after trying to find the origins of the force, pausing the galactic cold war between Republic and First Order sympathizers while forcing Rey to accelerate the Jedi rebuild. World between Worlds practically opened the door for any legacy character to return. Throw in cloning, force resurrection (s) and cinema "de-aging process" anything could happen.

This is a very good idea. But in terms of her looking into the dark side, it can start off as being benign and just an effort to educate herself.

Given Rey's isolation, age and no nonsense personality . She would be lacking in the finer skills that are required for diplomacy and back room dealing. I can see her getting fed up with politicians who are being intractable or just being petty. She can announce that she is a Palpatine and declare that she's taking over the throne and uses a little dark side to gain leverage-- you know for the greater good. From then it becomes a slippery slope.

People say that she inherited Palpatine's power. But I like to see it as her inheriting his hunger for power and drive to win -no matter the cost(remember she did survive for 14 years on Jakku and that doesn't happen without a will of iron and something driving you inside.

 

The more I think about this, I'm convinced some the actors will come back but we must remember, it's a new generation, so a new story is essential. The new characters will drive the narrative. This will no longer be Rey / Finn / Poe story. They will be support acts. It's unfortunate but apart from passing the batton there story will have very much ended with TROS very much like RoTJ was the final for the OT characters. Don't get me wrong we might have filler scenes maybe in the form of flashbacks and force visions but there will be nothing 'meaty' in there final part of the journey.

 

Am watching the Last Dance on Netflix and the line above reminds me of a debate on an ESPN talk show back in 97.
When the host asked a guest if Jordan would return for the 98 season, the answer was, "how fast can you spell money". IE- Jordan came back for 36 million.

Besides the almost unlimited direction EP10 can go story wise.... a major factor will be stakeholders. Unlike Pre-Disney Lucasfilms where the buck stoped w/ GL, Iger, Kennedy and company have to answer to its shareholders.
