If Palpatine has the ability to cheat death, how do we know he is really dead this time? Couldn’t he just come back again and again?

I think Disney would have to be absolutely crazy to bring him back a third time - but I said the same thing about the Death Star, so...

Do we have any way of knowing is he really dead? Does anyone actually want to see him again?

He definitely survived. He used Sith Helicopter!

He flew away when Rey wasn’t looking. That is how he survived the Death Star

No, I don’t want to see him again. I didn’t want to see him in Ep 9 either.

He’s definitely gone for good this time. I think the destruction of the Sith Citadel possibly signifies the final end to the Sith as well.

We see his body "falling" apart I think it's at least a bit more explicit than the last time he did(n't) die

Palps is more an icon of the nature of evil and corruption. He's a sort emblematic 'deity' of sorts, like Loki, if you will.

To say he's dead or not dead is to sort of tell me that evil is dead or not dead. Star Wars anthropomorphizes our moral emotions.

Palps is best as always an uncertain possibility, because evil from humanity is always an uncertain possibility.

He's sort of the gremlin of power and corruption.
Always somewhere unformed, but simmerring, and he could materialize again.

(Realistically, at some point they'll disfavor the character for a variety of reasons, but mythologically.)

    Cheers,
    Jayson

He was vaporized. So as long as the grave is empty we're good. Trouble begins when he's inside.

He told Rey if she strikes him down he will join her. She did, he did.

    To be continued.

In fact: she didn't strike him down. With the two lightsabers and the help of all the jedi she deflected Palpatine's own evil powers back to him. So you might say that he was killed by his own hatred and unable to take possession of Rey's body (which was his original plan).

Still, i wouldn't be surprised if one day...

I mean, I suppose we don’t really know he’s dead. But I would like to think Disney knows not to bring him back again. I think I speak for most fans when I say his death felt pretty definitive in Return of the Jedi, but a lot of people were open to the idea of him returning in The Rise of Skywalker because (1) he’s a fantastic villain and (2) his presence really does help tie all three trilogies together. All things considered, I was pretty satisfied with his role in this film. I would’ve liked a better explanation as to how he survived fleshed out in the film itself rather than relying on tie-in literature and interviews to fill in those holes for me, but I was pretty satisfied overall. That being said, I think the way he “died” in The Rise of Skywalker felt final, and I really think they need to leave it alone going forward. The Skywalker Saga is complete and it’s time to focus on new characters and stories.

Please no, no more Palpatine.;) Let's find new enemies, Disney and Lucasfilm should have enough resources to think a about a new plot with a new villain.(emperor)

    Good point.

But I think they should leave the force projection exclusively for Luke. This is how he beats Kylo Ren giving time to the Resistance to escape and at the same time becoming a legend and an inspiration for the rest of the galaxy.
I like to think that only the most powerful jedi ever existed could use this type of technique and this jedi is Luke.

Force projection is only used by the strongest Jedi, and the weakest screenwriters.
