Then TPM starts out with a droid spotting them as Jedi straight away. It’s actually a plot point that they’re so visually recognizable :D

This take is sponsored by a dumb take I saw on Twitter:

A good chunk of Star Wars fans don't grasp the core concepts of Star Wars.

When fans complain that they want Hollywood to do new things, while in the same breath ask to do a Darth Vader movie. In which, he was the main character for 6 films.

What they want, is an 80s Schwarzenegger movie that just so happens to be Darth Vader.
They don't seem to care about the fact that all 9 of the saga movies are about him. 3 about his rise, 3 about his fall and 3 about his legacy.
    We need lightsabers goin brrrrrr

My hot take? There’s one that I tell my friends. Some say I’m crazy, but some are starting to believe me:

There is MORE originality and lasting contribution to the Star Wars galaxy as a whole in just The Phantom Menace than EVERYTHING that Disney has done from 2015-2020.

    There, I said it.

In the Original Trilogy, we didn’t learn much about how the galaxy worked, its politics, or the past. But in just this one film, it was established: What a “padowan” is, The code/conduct/mindset of how the Jedi Order operate, the Jedi council, what monarchy rule In Star Wars is like, what the pre-war era of star wars was like, what a “sith” is, the code/conduct of how the Sith operate, how the war started, 2 zillion original droid/weapon/ship designs, new uses of the lightsaber (double-sided, plunging it into solid metal, etc) sports in Star Wars, backstory behind the inner-workings of Tatooine’s economy. I can go on and on all day...

Everything established in The Phantom Menace set up everything that followed, including the Disney films.

So in the Death Star are the bottom floors up side down. I mean it is the size of a planet. You just get off in the middle a float to the other side the start the journey upside down? I still think the way to take it out is stop the transport that delivers the TP. Everybody sharing a square.

    Here's a hot take.

Ashley Eckstein is an amazing animated Ahsoka and her performance is perfect for the projects she's in. BUT, she would never have been the right choice for live action. She does not have enough facial similarity to Ahsoka to make it plausible, but more fundamentally, I think her Ahsoka voice really only works in animation. Alongside live action performers, I think it would feel really fabricated.

I don't know, Ahsoka's face really changed throughout the seasons, I wouldn't mind if she again gets a face makeover. Besides Alden Ehrenreich doesn't look like Ford and they let him play Han Solo.

The real hot take here- IMO Ahsoka is a weak and inconsistent character.
My brother once said: "Why does Anakin have a pupil? Especially a pupil which gets never mentioned in the movies. It's just stupid and unnecessary." I have to agree with him.

To give Anakin, the linchpin protagonist, a fresh type of character to play against; an underling and ward to grant Anakin new and different challenges with which to inform his character and arc.

The Anakin character already had a number of superiors to bounce against, and by giving him a ward to look after they opened up a slew of new and interesting directions for exploring the protagonist character.

I felt this way at first. I think a lot of fans did. But she really grows and has an arc that makes her character work, in my opinion.

But for the "never mentioned in the movies" thing, I agree 100%. It *technically* works, but it just feels so weird that one of the biggest figures in Anakin's life never shows up in the films, esp. since she's around for the whole OT.

Challenge accepted. (Technically I do this all the time.)

TESB is significantly underrated and underappreciated.
    ROTJ is overrated and overappreciated.
The Throne Room scenes in ROTJ are overrated and some of the worst scenes in Star Wars.
In TESB, the scene where Luke wakes up on the Falcon is underrated as can be and is possibly the most underrated scene in the OT.
The Emperor is overrated and overappreciated.
The Clive Revill Emperor is underrated and underappreciated.
ROTJ's script, in areas, is one of the worst scripts in Star Wars, especially how it desecrates TESB.

The bridge scene between Luke and Vader in ROTJ is overrated. It is a rather poor scene and contradicts both Luke's emotional state and character in TESB. It also contradicts Vader's character in TESB.

Hmm really? Most fans I've seen consider it the best Star Wars movie by a decent margin.

This is called character development. It sometimes happens over the course of a film.

Unfortunately it did kinda happen in the break between films, in this case.
