-Mark Hamill’s acting in The Last Jedi was the best we’ve seen in the series so far.
    -Midichlorians ain’t that bad.
-General Grievous kinda sucks as a villain. Maybe if we get some more development for him down the line then I’ll change my mind, but as of right now, his character doesn’t do much for me. Which leads to my next point...
-People complain about there not being enough intimidating villains in the newer movies, when the Prequels only really had Darth Maul.
-The Battlefront 2 (2017) campaign isn’t that bad; just the misleading marketing.
-Savage Opress is an underrated character who didn’t get enough screentime in TCW.
-I prefer the design of the First Order Stormtroopers over the Imperial ones.
-I don’t have that big of a problem with Starkiller Base and to me, it’s one of the coolest looking locations in the saga.
-People are overhyping the new Clone Wars season. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great and I’m super excited for it, but I feel that some people are setting their expectations too high for a story that we already know most of the details of.
-Galaxy’s Edge may be the coolest, most immersive theme park ever.
    -Thrawn is an overrated character.
-I don’t care for Mace Windu and I find him to be pretty unlikable and I feel that was intentional to show how flawed the Jedi were at this time. Windu is the embodiment of the Republic-era Jedi’s hubris.
-Barriss Offee is an underrated character and I’d like to see some more of her journey leading up to when she frames Ahsoka in TCW.
-Kanan is another underrated character and I’d like to see more stories about him.
-We should get a continuation of the Poe Dameron comic after TROS comes out.
-Starkiller is way more overpowered and “Mary Sue”-ish than Rey is.
-I kinda love Watto. Want to know what happened to my Toydaian boi after Episode 2.
-I don’t really like the Phase 1 Clone Armor. Phase 2 all the way!
-I love the Sequels, but I agree that the ship designs are pretty lazy, as much as I enjoy seeing X-Wings and TIE Fighters flying around again.
-If the Tatooine segment of ROTJ was trimmed down a significant amount, then the movie would be much better.
-I don’t mind any of the Special Edition changes to ESB and there are some that I prefer in ANH and ROTJ.
-That being said, the Jedi Rocks singing scene from the SE of ROTJ is the worst scene from any Star Wars movie ever and it is the only scene I will ever skip when watching any of the movies. The Bor Gullet from RO is a close second but it doesn’t insult my eyes and ears like Jedi Rocks does. :p
-TR-8R should never have existed. It should have been Phasma who dueled Finn on Takodana.
-We will at least see the Force Ghost of Anakin in TROS.
-I like Steve Blum, but Zeb is the worst character in Star Wars Rebels.
-I want to see more of Tobias Beckett.
-I don’t mind the political scenes from the prequels.
-I didn’t have a problem with the Rose/Finn kiss from TLJ and would have even less of a problem if they do ened up being a couple in TROS.
-Aside from the silly POWAHHHH!!! and duel with Yoda scenes, ROTS was Palpatine’s best movie.
-I don’t like Yub Nub that much.
-I don’t want TROS to have a Tatooine binary sunset ending. I wouldn’t be mad if it did, but I’d like to see something else.

Okay that’s it from me this time folks.

    Yes!

    Yes!

    Yes!

    ...and thrice yes!

    Which segues directly to:

Phasma went out like a punk in TLJ... I was genuinely disappointed.

Making a Lego set out of this is top drawer trolling...

...but still runner up to a set based on a vehicle which didn't even appear
    [IMG]

There's A LOT of different/not different dustbowl outer rim planets... some might say too many
    [IMG]

Lando had some damned nerve in TESB - stitching up his mate on Bespin, recanting, assuming control of his ship and best mate and then still has the balls to raid Han's wardrobe too before flying off to rescue him!

I feel differently about this. There was something off putting and aggressive about Kylo when he said “You keep holding on! Let go!” and when he went all Darcy on Rey, she was left with no other option but to fight for that lightsaber and get the hell out... Rey knows that Kylo kills impulsively (After all she witnessed the disturbing way in which he killed his father). She realised she had made a mistake about Kylo’s frame of mind and that her only option was to escape.

I actually thought that story was really good... There is nothing like a good entrance and Han Solo had one of the best in cinema history stepping into the Falcon... As for the KanjiKlub and the rathtars, I thought it was goofy but short enough to be thrilling and fun. Clever of JJ to introduce that kind of thing with Harrison Ford around. He just does those “Indiana Jones” action moments better than anyone... and the audience was so happy to see Ham Solo on screen again, that they couldn’t care less about the rathtars and the gangs. Strategic.

    Lol he actually did!

But it was all “expediency” as Billy Dee says ;)

Okay, hopefully I get the term "hot takes" right... xD

    - Kylo Ren is the best character in the whole Star Wars Saga
    - I prefer ROTS over ANH
    - ROTJ is my most favorite Star Wars movie
    - I don't think R1 and ANH work that good together
    - I don't care about the animated series (TCW, Rebels, Resistance)
    - I don't get the hype and love for Ahsoka Tano
    - I like the idea of the Yuuzhan Vong in the old EU
    - Jango Fett > Boba Fett
    - I don't want to see a pure Vader spin-off movie
    - I like the romance/relationship-depiction of Anakin and Padme in the PT
    - I don't care about Ackbar's off-screen death in TLJ, he was just a minor character
    - Rey is not a Mary Sue
    - TFA is (so far) the best Disney Star Wars movie
    - I really enjoy the stuff on the "Star Wars Kids" YouTube channel, especially "Galaxy of Adventures"
    - I would have depicted Luke much darker and more broken, than RJ did in TLJ
    - As kid my favorite Star Wars videogame was "Jedi Power Battles" for PS1
    - I don't like seeing Yoda fight with a lightsaber, same goes for Palpatine. I actually think Sith shouldn't have lightsabers. Vader is an exception because he was once a Jedi
    - I like the planet of Jakku quite a lot

These are the things which come into my mind right now.

Luke killed Rey's parents (because they were dark siders and dangerous) and even wanted to kill young Rey (to prevent more darkness), but Ben convinced him not to do it. So, they dropped her off on Jakku. All this lead to a huge argument between Luke and his nephew which eventually was the final nail for Ben's fall.
When Luke meets Rey, he recognises her and feels even more broken, because he was wrong about her. She didn't become a weapon of darkness, but joined the light side of the Force and the Reistance.

This would have been my take on the story. Kinda...

    • Ian Mcdiarmid deserved a supporting actor oscar nomination for Revenge of the Sith
    • You can no longer class Darth Vader cinematic Villain as the character of Annakin has had more screen time as a good guy.
    • So far the prequel trilogy is better then the sequel trilogy
    • Solo has the best cinematography in Star Wars
    • Kylo Ren/ Ben isnt complex he just comes across as an angsty teenager who really just wants his mummy, the problem is the actor and character are in their 30's.
    • CGI Creatures regularly look better then practical effect creatures
    • The sequel trilogy has been rushed from start to finish.
    • The Special edition of Empire Strikes Back improves the film.
    • Rey's Theme is the best piece of music in Star Wars
    • General Hux is more annoying and daft then Jar Jar binks.

"Hot take" is a silly name for just "speaking one's mind". This concept did not need a new rebranding.

^ You may treat this post as a "Hot take" if you so wish....

    • Poe Dameron should have been the co-lead of the Sequel Trilogy.
    • Jar Jar Binks isn't as bad as you remember. He's worse.
    • Knights of the Old Republic's "twist" was like a bad M. Night Shamylan movie.
    • The worst acting in the Prequel Trilogy wasn't Jake Lloyd or Hayden Christensen. It was Natalie Portman.
    • If you're watching Star Wars and worrying about dropping bombs in space, you are secretly a Star Trek fan, and should just come out with it.
    • All the fans who claim they will be skipping The Rise of Skywalker will be there opening night...and we all know it.

The scene where Han gets the name Solo is great.

He was an orphan for most of his life so he didn't really need a last name until he signed up for the military. The bored and simplistic way the recruitment officer decides on Solo simply because Han is alone, makes the Empire seem more real to me.

The Emperor needs soldiers and he doesn't especially care how his officers recruit them or even what their names are. This makes it very clear that the nameless, faceless trooper is considered the perfect unit to make of the Empire's armed forces.

I agree. It's a brilliantly ironic twist that the most improbably cool name of the coolest guy in Star Wars was a result of bureaucratic indifference prompted by Han's moment of hesitance and uncharacteristic reticence. Plus it's a sweet homage to young Vito's re-christening in Godfather pt II. (han)

My "hot" take. The prequel trilogy should have been told from the Emperor's perspective.

This thread was a blast and I’d like to see it become more active again. It’s been about a year since anyone posted here so I’m sure a lot of us have changed our perspectives and have new hot takes to share.
    • I don’t get overly attached to droids as characters. I generally just see them as plot tools.
    • That being said, I do still love Chopper from Rebels and BD-1 from Jedi: Fallen Order. I also love how the animated shows have portrayed B-1 Battle Droids as comic relief.
    • Episode 5 of The Mandalorian gets too much hate. Episode 6 is far worse IMO.
    • Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan were all mishandled in the prequels. Hayden, Natalie, and especially Ewan did a great job in their roles, but Matt Lanter and JAT are who I think of when I think of these three characters.
    • Kanan Jarrus is one of the greatest Jedi in all of Star Wars. Fittingly, his love interest Hera is one of the best rebel characters in the franchise.
    • Cere Junda should go dark in a Fallen Order sequel.
    • Speaking of good characters going dark, we should’ve seen more of dark Ezra in Rebels season 3. I really like his character, but there are more instances of him being goofy and annoying in the second half of the show when he should’ve been more mature.
    • Resistance is okay. The marketing really did a disservice to the show. (Kaz really should’ve been more competent though.)
    • Anakin’s ghost didn’t need to appear in TROS. He absolutely should’ve appeared in TFA or TLJ though.
    • It’s a good thing that Star Wars Detours never saw the light of day. From what I’ve seen of it, it looked awful and really goes to show that George Lucas’s involvement isn’t a good barometer of quality.
    • Merrin and Cal should have a romance in the Fallen Order sequel.
    • Besides The Empire Strikes Back, The Siege of Mandalore is the best piece of Star Wars media ever.
    • The Ahsoka’s Journey arc of TCW S7 should’ve been about Ahsoka and Bo-Katan, not Ahsoka and those twins that we’ll never see again.
    • We should see Enfys Nest in the Cassian Andor series.
    • The long-rumored Rebels sequel has the potential to be the best animated Star Wars series yet.
    • Rebels is consistently better than The Clone Wars.
    • Having seen TROS, Finn should’ve died during the Battle of Crait.

Alright, I’ll take a stab at this:
    • The podrace sequence in The Phantom Menace is not only the most boring part of that film, but it’s one of my least favorite moments in all of Star Wars.
    • Return of the Jedi is my personal favorite Star Wars film.
    • Leia’s space flight in The Last Jedi is one of the best moments in all of Star Wars and was an incredibly emotional moment that finally allowed us to see her fully exhibit her Force sensitivity.
    • Jar Jar is not that bad and is far more relatable than half of the Star Wars characters that audiences are supposed to identify with. (I wrote a lengthier post on this idea here.)
    • The Bad Batch arc in The Clone Wars is super boring and I’m a little bummed that they’re pursuing an entire spinoff series around those characters.
    • Rey opting to take the Skywalker name as her own and denounce her heritage as a Palpatine makes perfect sense and is a very fitting end to the trilogy/saga, especially in terms of allowing the Skywalker lineage to end while honoring them and their ultimate victory over Palpatine.
    • Kylo Ren is a more compelling character than Darth Vader, even if Vader is arguably the better villain.
    • I would say the sequels probably had the best performances of all three trilogies –– Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher all delivered incredible performances, with Mark and Carrie’s honestly being contenders for career bests.
    • Luke’s characterization in The Last Jedi was fantastic and made complete sense to me.
    • Rian Johnson would’ve done a much better job with Episode IX than JJ Abrams (even though I love JJ and loved The Rise of Skywalker).
    • As great of a character as Ahsoka is, it’s not fair that she is constantly hailed as a far superior character than Rey just because she had a film, a standalone novel and two lengthy TV series to develop her character, while Rey was given three films where she’s competing with legacy characters for audience interest. (For what it’s worth, I think Rey’s character development was fantastic and I love her and Ahsoka both. No need to pit them against each other all the time.)
    • The Rise of Skywalker is infinitely better than what Duel of the Fates likely would’ve been.
    • I like the Ewoks and think the hate for them is a little ridiculous.
I’m sure I’ll think of more later on, but off the top of my head, these are the ones that stick out in my mind.

Jacen Solo and to an extent Lumiya are the best Star Wars villains we have ever seen.
ST music is quite bland, aside from Rey's theme and March of the Resistance, it didn't seem memorable.
In the end, TCW was overall better than GOT.
Sabine is the most Mary Sue ever.
Ezra is more annoying than Wrecker, though it is close.
I thought the CGI faces in R1 looked good.
The arc where Ahsoka gets hunted on a moon is one of the best arcs in TCW.
Legends Luke is better than Canon Luke, since they both have a student defect and turn to the dark side early on in their academies. However, Legends Luke persevered and was not broken, though it was difficult, when his best student left. He had already learned about tampering with the dark side in the OT and kept his cool.
Gina Carano's acting in the Mandalorian was bad.
I liked how in the first book of the NJO in Legends, they murdered Chewie. It showed that their were real stakes, and many other characters followed in Chewie's footsteps.
Traitor by Stover is the best Star Wars content ever PERIOD

I liked your post before even reading the rest :D

I don’t remember if I posted this here already or not. Meh, either way. I don’t like the look of the PT era Jedi: walking around in droopy pajamas and boots like Stevie Nicks or something. I get that they’re supposed to be humble monks or whatever, but they’re also federal law enforcement, man. How ‘bout they dress the part a bit more. Also, if your principle weapon is a blazing sword that can burn through practically anything it touches, maybe leafy, loose-fitting sleep wear is ill-advised as a uniform.

This isn’t really a hot take, more just something related I’ve always wondered about. What’s the deal with the cloaks? Are they a disguise? Are they just super cozy? Are there tons of pockets in there they can keep snacks in? Do they just complete that bohemian chic look they’re going after? How often do they get replaced? Seems like the Jedi toss them away rather willy-nilly. I imagine they don’t go back for them later. Do they pack extras? Are there just piles of them, in assorted sizes, stacked in a store room somewhere back at the temple? . . . . I have questions.

I used to think that it helped them blend in with the crowd. For one film it actually made sense to me, and somehow my childhood logic made sense of it by seeing a cloak on another character -- Garindan, of all people. Two cloak-wearers in that movie, 1 Jedi, and 1 non-Jedi. Good odds if you're trying to fit in!

But then the next couple films, prequels, TCW, etc all showed me just about zero other characters with cloaks similar to that. Not so great odds. So now the Jedi are actually distinguished by their "disguise" ...

But I digress. Okay, here's my hot take and my attempt to stay on-topic and bring this full circle... Garindan is a Jedi and survivor of Order 66. I mean, obviously. He wears a cloak.
