I mean The force has been mention in passing also Aside from Poe.Phasma and Leia they have been only Legacy characters in The series so far I understand it not wanting to be copy and also its set an era at relative peace it would make me very happy as well

At this point, having any legacy characters would be pointless. The story doesn't really call for them at this point. I thought we would of seen more of Leia by now but I guess they cut her out?

I think if Star Wars is to survive, it needs to move forward with new characters and find a new audience.

It can't keep endlessly relying upon legacy characters as 'fan service' to the old-guard.

It's interesting how the ability of the well trained jedi to become one with the force and still have a presence after dying allows the writers to carry them over into future stories. It's a very convenient way to bridge the old and new movies, though I think sometimes it makes it difficult to move on with the future. Sure, old guys like me have some sentimental connection with the past, but to be honest I've seen enough of these original characters to last a lifetime and am far more excited to see new material. I want to see Rey become a master of the force, and find a padawan, and lead the resistance in some epic battles, and I would like to see more backstory about the dark side of the force and how it shapes the future of the First Order, and maybe see Kylo Ren aspire to bring the Sith back.

    I don't think so.
In my opinion the lack of story development and interesting characters is hurting Resistance.
Sorry to say this because I love the animation but the show is becoming absurd.
In every episode they have to "find" something very difficult "to find" and repair some kind of ship. The platform seems to be not that big and every time they give the excuse to find something (and always do) to introduce irrelevant characters. Seven episodes and I have the sensation to have seen the same episode.
I am trying so hard to like the show but I have the rare sensation there are no plans for the next chapters, that the show has been made quickly to give time until episode IX.

I don't think so. I think, if anything, the lack of clear villain (which makes sense given where this is in the timeline) hurts the series more than the lack of The Force. Would it be nice to see it? Absolutely! But I don't want another show about training Jedi right now. I want something new, and Resistance - despite my conflicting feelings - answers that.

The lack of Jedi hurts, and so does the lack of a villain, but for me the biggest problem is that is just doesn't feel like it has enough of a connection to the movies. It's a great start that they have appearances from Poe and Phasma, but I still feel like the show seems mainly focused on hijinks in a repair shop - maybe I missed something, but I don't really even understand what Kaz is trying to do.

I don't think a story needs an already known character to be successful. It just has to feel like Star Wars and it has to be good storytelling.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think a Star Wars story needs a force user to be a good story. While the force is a major theme in established Star Wars canon and Legends, it is something that we understand and that we feel. It guides all things and can direct the paths of a character's fate, sort of like the storyteller, so we don't need to see a force user or a lightsaber to feel its presence. We should see a good story, first, that then is filled with the characters that are best for telling that story. The majority of beings in the GFFA who are not force sensitive, so we can easily understand that there are plenty of stories to be told and enjoyed that do not need a Jedi, Sith, or whatever else.

I definitely agree with you here. Kaz needs an antagonist to compete with for a common goal. He needs insurmountable odds or something to overcome other than his own incompetence. It seems like they are trying to use the station director or maybe the red first order pilot as our villain but we don't know what these people want because the showrunners are using mystery and ambiguity to cover up a lack of motivation or compelling need/want.

Star Wars Media that doesn't overly rely or focus on Legacy Characters or Force-related Conflicts have existed for years. There's the Clone-centric episodes of Clone Wars, Republic Commando and its accompanying novels, Michael J. Stackpole and Aaron Alliston's X-Wing novel series, the X-Wing comics, military novels like Allegiance, Battlefront: Twilight Company and Imperial Commando, the nu-character centric story arcs for the Empire and Rebellion comics, the entire Crimson Empire saga, and so on. Conflicts and stories that focus on the smaller people of the galaxy, entirely new characters, or plotlines that don't focus on the Struggle of the Force or any Legacy Characters. And yet they proved themselves regardless, through the strength of their writing and the quality of their stories.

If Resistance's quality as a show can be attributed to anything, it's not to the story lacking those two components. It's due entirely to its own strengths or failings as a standalone piece of media.

I'm pretty sure we'll see the Force and more familiar faces as the show progresses. Probably like in the Rebels, where until season 2 it was just a small team doing stuff on a backwater planet. Kylo Ren's cameo is inevitable, Finn could show up as well. I also expect to see Ahsoka and Ezra somewhere down the line. Maybe even Rey, if the show tries to fill the gap between the movies.

I like Resistance more than I like Rebels at first. Much of what made Rebels great was built outside of Rebels. This show is going to be going on after Episode XI so there's going to be tremendous amount of space to play with that hasn't been explored yet. That wasn't the case with Rebels.

As for the force, the whole Ezra thing was another teacher/student story. They simply can't keep doing that. Which is also another reason Lucasfilm probably wants to get out this era. The 9 episode saga has so many things in place now it restricts storytelling. I like the ST trilogy, but the fall of Ben Solo would have been a lot more interesting had it happened in the 2nd film and the series was about Luke's students led by Rey rising to protect the fledgling Jedi order.

l like the show, it seems very Star Wars like and it's very original as well. It's a fun show and looks at the galaxy from a different perspective than we have seen in the cartoons before.

I actually like that there is no force characters. I think the lack of good characters and good writing is hurting the show. Couple that with less than stellar designs and animation style (for the people, ships and environments look pretty good). I really wanted to like the show but so far it has been one terrible episode after another and Kaz takes the cake for the most annoying protagonist of anything Star Wars canon.
