Quite nice, Lake Como is beautiful. Not too much sand.

If you go to Lac Como, don't forget to pay for AQUAVISION : these are boats with a transparent hull so that you can see under water.

The trip is quite expensive, but it goes right above Otoh Gunga. Please note that for security reasons, no one is allowed inside the gungan city, so you cannot leave the boat. But it's a moment in one's life that's worth the price.

Hey I'm sorry, but what I said about aquavision was just silly joke : there are no "under water vision boats" on Lac Como, and of course, there is no Otoh Gunga to see.

I'm curious. Why have so many of you spent nearly 17 years making fun of a line that isn't even good or bad?

It's a joke about a line that is delivered poorly.

No one is standing up like this when everyone says "Oh hi Mark!"

It's a golden opportunity for that joke. It'll be a shame if no one made it. No different than ..."that's what she said" jokes.

People still make fun of the Luke/Leia kiss in ESB, which was later revealed in ROTJ that they are siblings. Heck, I remember seeing the SE back in 1997, and the WHOLE crowd yelled, 'Ewwwww!!!!!' when they kissed on Hoth. The beauty of the movies for fans like us is we have a sense of humor about them, and maybe some people use that as an agenda to crap on the movies, but many of us still get a good laugh about our beloved franchise.

I agree, that line isn't even good or bad, but it is obviously emblematic, the same as "I have a bad feeling about this".
Plus, that line (and some others) divide the fanbase into three halves (yes, three halves and I know what I know) : a first half (quite big) hates it, another half (the littlest) like it, while a third half (the biggest one) just don't mind.
Yes, you got what I mean : one has to take all of that with humour. The most humour possible. ;)

I like prequel and original trilogy eras in Star Wars . Yes there are some cheesy moments and the acting isn’t perfect at all times but you get this in both trilogies . They are very different eras . To me the original trilogy feels more gritty with a western vibe telling us a story about hope and overcoming all odds through the eyes of a princess , a farmboy and a smuggler whereas the prequel trilogy feels more like a dark mythical fairy tale taking place in a galaxy far far away with the costumes , the settings, the influx and wealth of characters and world building and the Jedi at their height as guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy . Part of that view too is conditioned because in the original trilogy which I saw first ( & now sequel trilogy ) when you hear about the Jedi & the force they refer to it with awe and wonder about this mythical order that faced evil and saved the galaxy again and again but were wiped out. The Jedi become legends in the other two eras so when I watch prequels part of this plays into that . In the prequels when you are faced with what they could do and what they stood for , it gives me goosebumps & every time I watch order 66 take place & Anakin/ Obi wan duel it makes me very emotional.
I think all eras have their positives and negatives . The way I look at Star Wars is as a whole - I find it hard to separate the films from the books and animated series so when I think of prequel era I also think of clone wars animated series and also the books written during that era which I loved ie Ahsoka novel &Dark Disciple novel so yeah I think
The prequels aren’t that bad plus it’s got some amazing lightsaber duels in the whole saga :)(yoda)

@CTrent29 There is humor, because by itself, the line is not worthy, not very important.
The fandom cristallised upon it, but seriously there is nothing.
This is why I say "one has to take all of that with humour" : not the line itself, rather all the grumbling that was around.

The thing about the PT, at least for me, is that I love THAT era of Star Wars. I love many of the characters, I love the world building. Yeah, the acting was spotty. But at NO POINT was I not excited about getting the next film. It is kind of funny, but the ST has made me really appreciate the PT and what GL was trying to accomplish. I love the story of the fall of Anakin Skywalker. The aliens, the music of the PT films (in my opinion the music is 10000xs better in the OT and PT than it is in the ST)

    Seconded!

The OT, as amazing as it was, was so tight that I never felt like I could live in that world. It existed, but I couldn't imagine myself as a part of it. But the PT had room to breath, and so many places to visit that I felt like I could belong. Maybe it has to do with the population of Jedi? In the OT, being a Jedi felt like a chosen destiny; in the PT, there were so many Jedi that despite it being about legacy and prophecy, it felt like anyone could be a Jedi.

Having grown up with the OT, I'll always love it. There is a lot to love. But the PT did a great job world-building and it is often derided for it's mistakes, which are there to see, but shouldn't be allowed to dominate the entire picture. Yeah, the acting wasn't great. Yeah, the over reliance on CGI makes AOTC seem dated now. But the story of the fall of Anakin Skywalker, the rise of the Sith, the end of the Jedi Order... All of that is awesome.

It took a while. I have always enjoyed Revenge of the Sith, but the other two films... Funny but at first I did go see TPM like +10xs at the cinema. I was so ecstatic that we got another Star Wars film. AOTC I saw 3xs. I loved the story but allowed the problems to outshine the good stuff. After TLJ came out (and I'm not meaning to bash it or anything like that) I decided to read the novelizations of the PT. That gave me a healthy respect, once again, for the actual story.

I'm a person who was very critical of the PT through the years, and the ST sort of forced me to re-evaluate them. I really came to appreciate George Lucas storytelling, because there is next to none of that in the ST. While I like the new characters in the ST, and I like that they have gotten away from too much CGI, the story is really what is lacking since Disney bought the franchise.

While I still have problems with the overall execution of the PT (the character of Anakin just doesn't work for me), the macro story still interests me and really gives depth to the OT. I really appreciate the world building of the PT (something I took for granted before the ST), as you got to see the big picture stuff that the OT didn't show. The Jedi Temple, The Republic, Coruscant, and the rise of Palpatine is one of the most underrated things in the Saga as all of this really makes the last hour of ROTJ come full circle. People complain about the Politics in the PT, but frankly those are some of my favorite parts.

The ST feels like an epilogue and somewhat detached from the PT/OT, where the PT/OT really feels like one narrative and all of the characters serve a purpose.
