lovely politics. I feel like that is an oxymoron, but you get what I mean

For me, there's tons of great content, ideas, and lore in the PT, but the execution mostly ranges from average to rather quite shoddy. *shrug* Oh, and sometimes it looks really, really pretty!

I personally think that the structure and the frame of the PT was great...it was what SW (or any sci-fi universe should be). Action, human drama and politics/chess games and a general commentary on society. The problem was the acting, the dialogue and the character development. I loved the Phantom Menace. But I honestly don't know what George was thinking when he developed Anakin in the next two films. I guess he thought that he could write a Luke 2.0 from ANH and have him negative and whinny. But it didn't work, and there was nothing endearing about him. I hated AOTC and could only bring myself to watch ROTS once again after the initial theatre release.

Acting and lines are just horrible. Making CGI's clonetroopers look like a video game. Same with CGI's Yoda, lost his essence.
My issues are much more with AOTC and ROTS.
TPM has better dialogues, better visual effects and I can enjoy at least.

In defense of Luke's whininess, it gives him the chance to express himself and act like a regular teen, even though being negative (when Luke is explicitly negative) isn't the right thing to do.

In respect to Anakin, his whininess seems more like an excuse to complain rather than debate, which is a HUGE difference between him and Luke, for most of the time. Luke will debate in his whininess at times ("But they're going to kill her!").

I have defended the prequels in online discussions for years, almost since they first came out. The only part that bugs me about them is Jar Jar being blamed for Palpatine's rise to power, which felt like Lucas caving to the haters in my opinion. Everything else flows pretty well though, but I do think Anakin's fall was a little too quick.
