Scream 1 and 2 can easily be seen as one movie. Everything after that is just a bonus IMO. But yeah, Scream 3 is bad, but at least the action was entertaining.

Encanto twice, and currently Eternals with my friend. I'd really like to sit down and watch Dune with my parents soon, but we'll see when that happens. Also, hot take, "We Don't Talk About Bruno" isn't the best song in Encanto. Neither is "Surface Pressure." "Waiting on a Miracle," "What Else Can I Do?" and "Dos Oruguitas" are all better songs. But they don't make as good of memes (and cover themes already sung about in other Disney Animated Musicals.) Still congrats on Bruno making it the top of the charts!

The Suicide Squad - I'm not quite sure how this one was so well liked. Sure it had a few good things going for it; such as Peacemaker to me was the standout, but overall I just don't get the appeal. There really wasn't much of a story and what little there was was messy. Unlikeable characters, awful plot and many other problems.

Overall I liked the first one better and that's like having acid in my mouth for saying that because the first one wasn't really that good either, but it at least had a better story and Margo Robbie as well as Will Smith carried that movie. Margo Robbie couldn't save the 2021 version because it's just a gorefest of nothingness.

Superb acting, but we expected a feel good movie and were quite shocked how things played out. Nevertheless I was happy to finally have found the time to watch this movie.

Just rewatched this masterpiece of a movie. Something about the complexity of Denzel Washington's acting is beyond me.

    The Batman!

    upload_2022-3-3_19-37-23.jpeg

    Preface:
Going into this movie I was as nervous as I was excited. I love new iterations of characters, and all of the cast and crew are favorites of mine or ones I've enjoyed works from before, so they had everything going for them. But hearing how dark the movie was made me question some things. Batman is a character with a dual history. He's known for his silly and zany past, as immortalized by Adam West's interpretation and more recently (well, relatively recently) Batman the Brave & the Bold cartoon. But his darker side is far more embraced, with such classics as The Dark Knight Returns, 1989 Batman, and the 90's Batman cartoon. The latter aspect is so beloved that iterations that try to play with both such as The Batman - the show, not the movie - are often left forgotten, and Batman is seen as overly dark and edgy and grim. This hasn't always been to the character's benefit. If you've never had the horror of reading All-Star Batman (not to be confused with All-Star Batman & Robin, which is great), then I suggest you look it up. Even the Dark Knight Returns' legacy couldn't save it from inferior sequels.
My favorite recent interpretation of the Dark Knight has been Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, a light-hearted version of the Bat-Family that sees the Caped Crusader as a father of many trying to do his best to be a father while also being The Batman. But it's light-hearted and funny and heart-warming, preferring to deal with things like breaking promises and dating and bonding than the seedy underbelly of Gotham. And I love that version. I adore it! I was afraid that this movie would erase that desire and want for a lighter Batman. Part of me still is, being completely honest. So, how did the movie turn out?

    My first reactions:
The Batman is a masterpiece of a Batman film. The music, acting, and story are everything long-time fans will want, and the action is fun and tense. It's more grounded than the Dark Knight trilogy, if that's to be believed, and even darker. It also feels like it fits the entire Dark Knight trilogy into one movie in several ways, due to the similar themes and beats found within the trilogy and this movie. The time flew by as well. I honestly didn't even think three hours had gone by when I left the theater, it was that good.
There's an action scene in the movie that ranks among the best Batman fight scenes I've seen on the big screen. (My two favorites are the Warehouse fight scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition) and the Hostage fight in The Dark Knight. Runner-up is the Rooftop fight scene in The Dark Knight Rises.)
Let's talk about the characters. Pattinson's Batman is a man on a mission. A non-spoiler review I watched commented that this version is an alien, watching the rest of humanity and wanting to be a part of it, but not being able to find a way to do so. I'd agree to some extent, and that read feels very true. Batman is also a man on a mission. He's a terminator, not above using fear, misdirection, and intimidation to get what he wants. He isn't trying to be a myth like Bale's Batman, but a monster in the dark, who cannot, who will not be stopped. This Batman's relationship with Gordon is also different. In the Dark Knight trilogy, Gordon was the Watson to Batman's Sherlock. In the Synderverse, Gordon wasn't seen enough to really have an impact, but he was one who Batman went to for a lead and seemed to know him well. Here, Gordon is Batman's partner. They trust each other almost implicitly, and it's great to see.
The Batmobile is another character that was fun to see. In Dark Knight Trilogy's Batmobile aka the Tumbler was a Tank. Synder's Batmobile was something between a dune-buggy, a Nascar, and an arsenal on wheels. Here it's just a souped up and highly durable muscle car. This is important because the Batmobile in the movies is a reflection of the driver in certain ways, and it's certainly the case here.
I should also probably talk about Alfred and Selina, but I think they're best experienced rather than talked about. I don't think they'll be anyone's favorite versions of the character, but I'm pretty sure at least Selina will end up in second place for most fans.

I've heard complaints about the ending being too long, and while I see that, I also disagree. To me, it's more like an ending, a denouement, and then an epilogue. I wouldn't have minded having the latter two as post credit scenes, but the post-credit teaser we get is a pretty good one.

Overall, while this isn't the best superhero movie ever, nor is Pattinson my favorite live action Batman or Bruce Wayne (that honor still goes to Ben Affleck), 'm super stoked to see more and I cannot wait to see what potential sequels have in store. Here's to hoping we eventually get the Court of Owls and Mr. Freeze!
This is the closest to a 10/10 Batman film I've ever seen. I didn't feel the runtime and I didn't want the movie to end. If a four-hour Director's Cut comes out later in the year, I'm 100% on-board. I do worry what it means for the character's reputation going forward, since now it feels like we can't have a lighter Batman because all people know is "dark and brooding and edgy," but I still think there's enough room at the table for both.

Favorite small detail: Pattingson's walking as Bruce when he's putting on clothing. There's a predatory, almost feline nature to it, and it's awesome to see. Also, the boots. You'll see what I mean when you watch it.

    Other notes:
There were shots at times where Pattinson in the Cowl looked a lot like a younger version of both Keaton's Batman and Affleck's Batman. That's a great thing IMO, and now I have far too many fan-fic ideas...
The upside-down flames-in-the-background walk will probably be the new iconic image for Batman going forward, and I am here for it.
There are more things that are escaping my mind right now, but definitely go watch this film!
Other potential villains we could hope to see: Prometheus, The League of Assassins (I want to see a proper Talia al'Ghul. Or replace her with Lady Shiva, I don't mind.), Deathstroke, Arkham Knight.

    Other notes I remembered:
This movie also has some pretty funny moments. It's not slapstick humor, but a dry, wry sort of humor that works as a tone switch when it appears. Pattinson never smiles in the movie, but it doesn't mean he won't get a laugh out of you.

Rian Johnson if a series of these movies is confirmed but Reeves steps away to direct something else, Rian Johnson is one of the few directors who I think would do a phenomenal job in Reeves' place. RJ has an eye for aesthetics and beauty when he wants, knows how to bring out the best in his actors, and can write a pretty fun mystery film. I think those things would combine into a great movie...so long as Reeves helps write the story. Denis Villeneuve is another director I'd trust, although I'd want him to do Dune Part 2, potentially a Star Wars film, and hopefully bring a Brandon Sanderson film to life first.

The Batman - This isn't Marvel's, Tim Burton's, or your mom's Batman movie you've ever seen. Which is not a bad thing. It's different, it's epic, it's maybe even Goth, scary, among other things and it stands on it's own for sure. I thought Robert Pattinson would be a terrible Batman. He seriously immerses himself in this role and gets lost in it. It's dark as hell

That being said it has some humor and i will pass you by if not paying attention and it sure needs it. In all it's a good movie but not without its flaws. You don't get much character depth, but that's okay because we all know what's underneath and what's he is about. So not a huge deal.
