    Loved it.
As Guillermo Del Toro said, Yorgos' sense of humor is so dry it exfoliates

The Last Castle - For some reason I had never seen this movie. It came out in 2001 starring Robert Redford and James Gandolfini, so I decided to check it out on Netflix. And I thought it was great. Good cat and mouses between Robert's character and James.

Glass - I liked it, but I felt Bruce was underused. It's not exactly a sequel, per se. It's kinda like taking the characters and dropping them in to see what would happen in the real world. The pacing was a bit slow, but James Mcavoy and Samuel L. Jackson were great. The plot was interesting. And yes, there were some twists which almost fell flat, imo. But overall a good movie.

I remember that movie, I think I rented it from Blockbuster on a whim when it was a New Release. I can't remember whether it was good or bad, just kind of depressing, and that I couldn't get over the fact that one of the guys (Clifton Collins, Jr) was Tack from The Stoned Age.

I think I find prison movies depressing in general but I think it was the deaths of a couple of characters
    including the protagonist
that just left me feeling kind of bummed out by that one. I can't really remember though as it's probably been 15 years since I've seen it and I don't recall many specifics, I just remember thinking it was sad. Not bad or anything... at least not that I can remember.

I finally got to Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse with my daughter last week and like, daaaaaaaaaaaaaammmn! The animation was spot on, the story was like seeing comic panels coming to life in front of you from the boxed out thoughts and inner monologues of characters to the visualised comic sound effects. This was backed by a superbly put together soundtrack and though I hate to use the colloquialism a really fresh spin on the more than well known origins tale.

It was disappointing to overhead someone in the cinema lobby dismissing watching it because it wasn't "a real movie, it's just a kids cartoon"... couldn't be more wrong, it's immediately become my favourite Spidey flick and this comes from someone who loved Maguire's second outing and Homecoming. I really can't recommend it enough.

Edit: I also really need a decent poster of the image above for my home office wall!

Still not got round to seeing that... opinions amongst my friends seemed to vary too much, so I'll wait for Netflix or rental on Sky.

If you want to see rreally well-made horror classic, go and watch Cat People (1942.) It builds tension fantastically, has great lighting and shot composiition andd also does so much in so little time (it lasts only 74 minutes!). Watch it if you ever get a chance.

Two weeks ago my best friend and I watched two movies:

No Country was a dark, tense movie; but ultimately one of the best I've seen. Bardem's character is one of the scariest villains I've ever seen (and between the haircut and the voice, I believe he's Kylo Ren's true father.

The final Rurouni Kenshin movie finishes the adaptation well, and provides the right amount of closure. I'm a little torn on Aoshi though. He wasn't involved in the first movie, so this movie and it's predecessor had to work overtime to justify his existence. And his hair went form SUPER noticeable blue to regular dark blue/black at certain times. It was weird.

    On Friday we watched:

I hadn't seen Split, but his movie made me want to see it. Overall it was okay. The movie had no tension whatsoever and for an intimate movie like this one, the line between that lack of tension and boring was razor thin. The characters were wonderfully acted (for the most part - Willis sounded tired/bored, but again I blame the lack of tension). The twist at the end - because OF COURSE THERE'S A TWIST - works within the world the stories take place, but ultimately brings the movie down.

And then some other friends meet us at a different theater (I didn't buy the tickets) for:

I'm happy I saw Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse last year, or it might have tied for best animated movie in my heart. I LOVE Broly. He's my third favorite DBZ character (Vegito's in first, followed by Goku). His movie is easily my favorite of the DBZ movies (sorry Bardock and Trunks!). And seeing him enter the canon proper was a joy. The voice-acting was top notch, and the animation was great. The fight scenes were beautiful. They did switch to CGI a couple of times, but it blended a lot better than the previous two movies. Broly's backstory was tragic and the movie added a depth to the characters that wasn't previously there. Everyone benefited from this. The movie was also hilarious. If you're a fan of DBZ or curious, this is the movie to check out. You're fed all the necessary info, and the stuff you don't know you can figure out.

Roma. Holy cow guys. This is one of the most beautiful films I've seen in awhile. I think they'll be using it to teach shot composition someday.

I've watched 3 movies over the last week or so..

other than a few songs they did for the Highlander movies.. i've never been a huge Queen fan, and i was putting off watching this.
I enjoyed it actually, and i thought Rami Malek was brilliant.

i saw the cast list and knew i would love it... nope. lots of funny bits in it, but i thought it was mostly pants.

    and finally..
the bad reviews for this movie is the reason why it took me so long to watch it, as i was looking forward to it last year.

I was expecting it to be really bad (expectation.. what an effect it has on one's opinion of a movie eh?) and i actually enjoyed it.
I think it could have been an awful lot better, but i think it was an interesting take on a very tired old story.

If i could go back 2 months, i would have gone and seen it on the big screen. hey ho.

Ben Mendelsohn is superb in it.. my favorite ever Sheriff of Nottingham.

That’s disappointing about King of Thieves as i was looking forward to watching it at some point :(.

Also Mendelssohn better then Rickman now that fighting talk although I now want to see it so that’s good.

I’m seeing The Favourite this afternoon so that going to be Interesting as I haven’t seen anything by the director but it’s the 3 leads that had me sold on the movie so I’m expecting to enjoy the film.

Watched "First Man" again, this time on Blu Ray, and still find it somewhat disappointing. Needs more space and less Claire Foy giving Ryan Gosling dirty looks. Also it's even more difficult to tell what the hell is going on in the space scenes on the small screen. Everything's so dark, shaky and weird camera angles. Trying to watch the action feels like watching Cloverfield and trying to get a glimpse of the monster. Although the lunar surface stuff was awesome although too short.
