I watched Galaxy Quest with my son this weekend. The CGI is dated as hell, but my son loved the movie. The jokes still land and my son, I was surprised, fully bought in. He doesn't usually take to sci-fi, but he took to this. I think I even detected a tear when Taggart told the good alien that he lied lol.

Love that movie and pop in the Blu Ray frequently. Sam Rockwell is probably my favorite.

Captain Marvel – yesterday evening. A very solid and worthy addition to the franchise. I liked it quite a lot.

I watched the Green Book. Loved the character of Viggo Mortensen. Very funny.
Also was cool to see Linda Cardelina from Freaks and Geeks.

Alright, hold onto your butts, because I'm back and I've caught up on some movies long overdue. I recently took an international trip, and on the way there I watched Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Now, the original Wreck-It Ralph is one of my favorite animated movies. It's a love-letter to videogames with messages about prejudice and stereotypes, great action and animation, and some heartfelt moments. This one...had less of each. It wasn't bad at all, but the wait didn't do the movie justice. The best scenes were either the ones about the racer (voiced by Gal Gadot) or the Disney Princess stuff. Both Ralph and Venelope were a little to selfish for me to actually root for either of them. And too little Fixit Felix! I wanted more of him and his wife! Overall, this movie felt like it was a good third movie in a series, but it doesn't function its best as a sequel.

On the way back I watched The Incredibles 2.
I like how it picked up right after the first movie, and I liked the story a lot. But with such a long wait between this movie and the first one, as well as Into the Spider-Verse overpowering any and all opposition (and rightfully so!), the wait doesn't feel as justified. We've been in the prime era of superhero movies since 2014* so any time between now and then would have been fine to release this movie. ON the flip side, I don't think Screen Slaver would have worked as a villain if the movie came out sooner, and we DEFINITELY needed Screen Slaver as the villain.

The focus on the Elasti-Girl and Jack-Jack felt a little like pandering, if taken in a vacuum, but makes sense given how the first movie focused on Mr. Incredible and the kids. This is her movie and she owns it. The action was top-notch and exciting, and the story was well done.
My hope for the third movie is that it doesn't pick up where this one left off, as I'd rather see the family grow up a little between the movies next time.
Overall, this movie was a great one (a step above Ralph 2), but the wait hurt the film as much as it helped.

After that I watched Point Break.

I LOVE the Fast and Furious series, and I've been meaning to see this movie, as many people joke F&F is just "Point Break with cars." And after watching the movie, I understand where they're coming from to a degree. The first half of the movie is entirely like the first (and second...and fourth) F&F movies. But instead of family, Point Break is about thrills and weird spirituality. But in the second half, the movie changes and all comparisons to F&F go out the window. Frankly, I really enjoyed the second half. The twisted relationship between Bodhi and Johnny Utah (what a name, right?) was super compelling, and the ending actually felt cathartic. Oh, this movie is super hammy and incredibly cheesy (props to the blond naked hooker who took out like two police officers), but if you endure it you'll find some interesting stuff by the end.

Wednesday AND tonight I watched Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse for the second and third time respectively.
I've already spoken about it before, and it's only aged better with time. Some cracks show, but they're minor at best and this movie deserves everything. Sadly the third time wasn't the "alternate" version, and I don't want to burn out on the movie, so I'll be taking some time away from it before watching that version, but I'm excited.

Next movies on my list to watch are Creed 2 (hopefully by next weekend with the fam) and Captain Marvel (unfortunate travel timing and being sick forced me to miss it so far), but we'll see where the road takes me.

*waves* Captain Marvel - Brie Larson did a great job, you can really tell she's a talented actress (like most of the actors they hire for MCU), and moreover I've enjoyed the 90ies references - especially her nin grunge outfit.

Tonight @NinjaRen and I are watching Jordan Peele's movie " Us"

In attempt to approach the last Avengers film, I have watched Infinity War 3/10 (after the first two again). And thank God SW saga is not like MCU.
The more public and critics praise one of these movies, the more awful I find them (Thors, Spidermans, Panthers...). The first Avengers was a great approach to superheroes and love the first Guardians (for ex.), but majority of these movies are unwatchable.

Yes, I always give a chance to these movies to have a personal opinion, although I am not a really big fan and always prefer to see at home. I really don't like to turn off a movie but I did it with some of them. I prefer Venom, one of my last movies too. FX are really bad and it has a couple of silly decisions but at least the story is more interesting and Tom Hardy always gives good jobs. 5/10

In infinity War you don't have the feet on the ground in any time. Nothing is credible. CGI kills the story in every scene, the humor is overused in a really high level. In action sequences you don't appreciate nothing. The camera goes too fast, I guess to cover the deficiences, in my opinion. The directors of these movies seem they don't think how to put a camera to explain something. All is spit. I guess is the purpose of this movies. Disconnect 2 hours, and think nothing.

My last two movies I really liked are "Gräns" (9/10), a rare, horrific, shoking nordic tale and a strange romantic story, with a couple of unspeakable scenes. And the remake of Suspiria (8/10), an interesting well directed horror movie with a classic style.

PD again, sorry for my english

So, @RockyRoadHux and I watched Jordan Peele's latest movie "Us". Personally the expectations for this movie were high, especially after "Get Out". But what's the story?

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.

The movie was good and had some unexpected twists and turns. The trailers really did a great job to misguide you how the story would go. IMO the plot was quite coherent (even though there were some plot holes), the acting and the music was good too.

The 90ies references or her cool outfit? xD I mean seriously - she killed it. I almost didn't recognize her in the Endgame trailer with that heavy makeup and super straight hair. Yeah, Engame was shot before Captain Marvel so looks like they needed the extra time to figure out what style would work best for the character.

Didn't they... : D I still blame it on the trailer that I spilled our M&M's! And though I normally can't watch people getting hurt by scissors or other sharp objects, I really had a good time with this movie, Jordan Peele really knows how to tell interesting stories.

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot.

What a let down. I mean, it's fine. But it could have been glorious camp pulp but it takes itself way too serious. And does a few narrative things I actually hated.
