A great movie about love, loss, and reawakening of joy inside. The story tells of a father who loses his son on The Way Camino del Compestela Santiago (The Way of St. James) a trail from Pyrenees to Espana (Spain). Along the way our protagonist meets other pelegrins (pelegrinos, pilgrims) who also are on a journey of self discovery, mourning, and suffering.

I highly recommend. Its funny, witty, and the viewd of Espana are gorgious. Brillant acting and messages as well as characters that will touch your heart and perhaps help you expatiate some sorrow of your own while also stoking joy via the moments of laughter and whimsy.

    10/10

The last film I saw in the cinema: Joker. And damn, that film stuck with me for days. We saw it on Friday of opening weekend and I was shook till Sunday. Damn that is one hell of a film.

Just finished watching The Irishman. A slow burner for sure - but it captivated me and kept me interested until the very end. The pacing works as it reinforces the point that the whole movie is pretty much a memory of a man's life.
You can definitely tell it's a Scorsese movie; the man can tell a story like nobody else...A pensive existential mob movie; never thought that would possible. The cast is obviously amazing; the quality of acting is over the roof and while everyone's doing a great job, Al Pacino is just incredible. De Niro and Pesci are both great as well; especially in the second half of the film. De-aging is noticeable but decent; you can definitely see its flaws and shortcomings at times but it's believable enough. A much bigger giveaway of the actors' age is not their de-aged faces but rather their movements...you can see they are much older than they're portrayed on the screen. It's particularly obvious in the one beating the shopkeeper scene; fortunately not many of such "action" scenes though. It didn't really bother me once I got used to it anyway.
Good dialogue with some brilliant deliveries. Brilliant soundtrack. Interesting story. Great acting and a fantastic cast. Nice camera work. Loved a few subtle nods and references to other movies made in some scenes as well.

The last hour was great and nothing short of a masterpiece; the ending hits you hard. Somber af.

I felt it was a proper swansong of Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Pesci; the rest of the cast. It made me sad when I realised that we're not going to see most of them on the big screen anymore. I'm happy they did this film as it's a very fitting one to be the last one they all did together. A great eulogy to the classic gangster movie genre and its legends.

Just watched the final cut of “1917” and was totally blown away. Every aspect of the production was meticulously executed. The acting, choreography, music, cinematography and camera work were sublime. The story and pacing of the film were incredibly suspenseful - I literally felt my heart pounding in my chest. The film was in many ways stylized around Hitchcock’s “Rope,” in that it’s attempting to present the film as one long continuous take. Hitchcock pulled it off doing it on a soundstage. Mendes pulled it off on location depicting the trenches of France with hundred of extras and loads of pyrotechnics.

“The Rise of Skywalker” has a high hurdle to clear to be the best December release this year.

I really want to see this film as there was a brief BTS clip of it before my Le Mans 66 showing & the fact that it’s filmed in conological order is just a amazing feat of filming.
Alas it dosent come out over here until early January

    M. Night Shamalyan’s masterpiece. Each scene is seemless as it builds to suspensful climax. In my opinion this is best thriller/ horror film because it blends humor at the right moments while keeping the creepy tone of what is happening.

KNIVES OUT A really enjoyable film with a great cast I liked that it blends a Agatha Christie type of ending with a bit of Columbo where the reveal of how it is done is fairly early in the film.

I saw Charlie's Angels. It passed the time, it was ok, but not great. Going to try to watch The Irishman soon.

Now there is no try... I did or I didn't. I did. Watch the Irishman. It was very good I thought, if you like Scorsese films and the actors involved and you have Netflix and a spare 3 and a half hours I very much recommend it.

Together with the General I watched 'Doctor Sleep' featuring Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance.

I'm probably one of the few people who didn't enjoy 'The Shining' movie more than the novel. I love the novel. It's my second favorite King novel. I was kinda disappointed in Kubrick's interpretation. But that's a different story.

But we are here for the Sequel. - Doctor Sleep was quite enjoyable. It's a long movie (which you could easily shorten about 30 mins), but it never drags. The story was intriguing, the acting was great and the soundtrack was good. My only major point of criticism: the final battle in the third act. It was way too over the top.

Rating: 4 out of 5 broken doors.

Oh, you're not the only one. The Shining captured the terror and mood of the novel but that's about it, I think.

Saw Doctor Sleep a few weeks ago as well, and my thoughts are just about the same. Really enjoyed it, and I usually don't like horror. Too bad not many people went to see it.

Did an Adam Driver double feature.
    The Report.
    Marriage Story.

The Report I found fairly boring and dull. I had a good grasp on the general story from being aware of the actual event and the movie doesn't exactly do anything to draw you in if you know the results. Another fare that Driver just puts on his shoulders and carries across the finish line (Looking at you Don Quixote).

Marriage Story. Wow. An acting showcase from ScarJo and Driver. Just incredible. Each of them turns in one of their best performances of the year. Just outstanding. As someone who didn't come from a divorced family and hasn't been married, I was genuinely concerned I wouldn't connect with this at all but holy hell. Baumbach did an incredible job here to use restraint and avoid the bombastic and go with the subtle. It made you connect and sympathize. Incredible film.

i found The Report pretty riveting, but i agree that actingwise, it's interesting how little he has to work with. it's an important story, but not a strong script, i think.

Marriage Story was brutal (last movie i saw). but i'm glad people are finally seeing his stupendous talent. you mentioned in the other thread that putting him in the mask in TFA was a mistake. i say putting him back in the mask for Episode IX is a crime. hopefully he only wears it for the one scene we've seen with it. : o |

p.s. can't believe you didn't like The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, but i guess it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea. XD

    Screen Shot 2019-12-07 at 8.26.23 AM.png
p.p.s. for the life of me i couldn't figure out why Driver was doing a musical with Marion Cotillard. now i get it.
