    That's the point! It's a family/kids movie with low budget and mega cheese on purpose. It's a style he has for his kids movies that aren't meant to actually be great but just fun adventures. They all aren't critical hits but have become cult guilty pleasure favorites over the years.

    You make it seem like he suddenly did a random kids movie but it's a follow up to Lava Girl & Shark Boy, which fans and studios have wanted a sequel for years for some reason and so he did this spin off and now he may do Spy Kids 4 but the same has been for years for that and now the certain fan base for this wants it even more because of nostalgia. You don't how many adults geeked out for adult Lava Girl and Shark Boy in this.

    I never cared about these movies and won't be watching this myself but I get why it is what it is.

    Your post is the equivalent of something like barney or another childhood favorite kids movie from the 90's getting a sequel on Netflix and it being the same on purpose and you watching then saying it's so awful. Well no sh**! But certain people will still be into it based on nostalgia, pop culture and wanting to share with their kids.

    Robert Rodriguez directed a recent episode of the Mandalorian that was all out action packed, had badass characters and low budget. The man hasn't changed at all. Watch him do Machete 3 or something right before Spy Kids 4
