The Maguffin will either be Reys parents.. or one of Reys parents. They must have, or know something that’s important (Controversial remember cos Kylo dismisses them as drunks, delightful cos it will make Rey happy) Take care with MSW rumours as I recall they did a major story in May 2016 about the Ireland shoot whereby Luke dispatched the KOR on the edge of cliffs, how they described lots of ‘wire’ work using stunt doubles etc!! And I’m sure you all know that was garbage

People still goin on and on and on about Plageius etc.....get real people, it’s far too late in the day for Plageius etc

MSW missed on that one but more times than not they are correct. Sometimes we have to be careful differentiating what they are reporting as info from their sources and what they are speculating the info means. Jason tries to separate the two but sometimes I think it gets blurred. MSW sources have seemed to be legit and it is one of the sites you should take more seriously then a lot of the crap rumor sites out there.

If the rumor about 'threat from beyond' is really true, I think that we will see the return of the Sith.

That's the most logical explanation. We are in a final chapter of Skywalker saga, so I think it's too late for anything new.

    It must be the sith.

I know a lot of fans want to see the Sith return. I’m not sure how Infeel about it. My question is, if the Sith return does that diminish Anakin\Vader as the Chosen One who would bring an end to the Sith?

I guess if the Sith come from “the beyond” that technically said they are from another galaxy and Anakin/Vader still completes the prophecy.

    I just don’t know

The inherent flaw in "prophecy" story lines is that it makes logical moves forward difficult

Robert Jordan makes it work in the Wheel of Time series because his prophecy is based on it repeating through time leading up to the story he is telling. The prophecy is vague enough to give wiggle room. However that seems to be the exception.

SW could “certain point of view” it by having the new Sith come from another galaxy thus not being part of the prophecy as it was in the PT. However, I’m not sure how satisfying that would be.

It's why I'm glad there are no Sith in the new films. It keeps that "chosen one" stuff in line while allowing evil to rise again...because if it vanquishes evil for good and restores balance permanently, why bother coming back to a story at all? That'd be boring as hell.

I agree. I am glad the Sith have not been in the ST. I know there are many fans clamoring for their return. It just shows the wide variety of opinions the fan base has

The sith as such will probably not appear, 'cause their kind were ended with the defeat of Palpatine in RotJ. However, something sith'ish could form/be at the center of this threat from the Beyond. Not an army of Sith warriors, but perhaps something stemming from a sith plot (i.e. a Palpatine plot for it to have any story weight) of some sort, like... I don't know... a fighting force influenced by dark teachings or something... <-- Not that, something better than that, but with a Sith/Palpatine connection, somehow.

That, or something completely different, except it must make sense in the context of the Skywalker Saga. (I.e. It should "rhyme" as GL would've put it).

Sure the Sith have not technically returned in the sequel trilogy but I do feel they have not done a good job differentiating the Ren from the Sith.

any surprise that the first sets of rumours emphasizes "The Beyond". Terrio has gone straight to the new cannon for inspiration.

And that's a good thing. I really liked some of the ideas in the Aftermath trilogy, like the Acolytes of the Beyond and the darkness or force or whatever that Palpatine was feeling coming from the unknown regions. I realize we've only had one film since those books (the other two obviously set prior to those books) but I really want to know more about these guys. Same for the Knights of Ren.

The funny thing about the Aftermath trilogy is that after I'd finished it, I realized I really like the entire story.
    Huh.
Also Wendig is a great writer. His other novels and stories are worth your time.

Hm... not sure how I feel about the rumor that Johnson's trilogy will be made for a younger audience... I mean, I have nothing against such films (and Star Wars works very well as kid-shows), but I really want Johnson to tackle big and complex arcs & themes & plots. Oh well, we're getting so much SW that one can't really complain :)

What if he does a Jedi Academy trilogy?? The earlier Harry Potter movies could be considered for a "younger audience" as well.

I'd love to see Thrawn so I genuinely hope you're right, but again I think we need to remember that having 5% of the audience gasp in surprise and 95% wonder what's so special about Blue Man Group would probably cause some undue division in the film's final chapter.

Also, as far as we know, Thrawn has nothing to do with the Skywalkers, Kylo, Rey, etc.

Having Thrawn in the film would be fine. But as anything other than just a cameo, he'd be pretty distracting.

Well, sir. That would be pretty damn awesome! :D I take it back; bring on the kiddiness! :)

I'd much rather have Thrawn appear in his own trilogy, than sailing in from nowhere in the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga. That said, he's pretty damn cool so I wouldn't complain anyhow :D
