If you lose interest don’t watch. Don’t put yourself through something you don’t want to see

I don't know. I would have to see it written down, at least, to have some idea.

If, however, you're meaning would I prefer it if exactly the same things took place but with a different known fancy person showing up, then no I wouldn't.

That doesn't really change the primary core issue there.

You could toss in anyone, really, and it would still be a problem for me. You could toss in someone we've never met and it would be a problem for me.
That's because what you have here is a massive set up of impossible odds that you just Deus Ex Machina right the heck out of.

Our hero doesn't do anything. He takes a seat on the bench and waits to see the results unfold after being put into a really tight spot.
The set up is meaningless. Cool looking, absolutely. But it's meaningless narratively because none of the threat mattered - it didn't cost anything.
Giving up Grogu cost something - and it was a bit stiff of a moment, to be honest, because you had to switch gears so fast from robot tin-can laser cutting aerobics to deep meaningful drama which apparently every character in the room was moved by like everyone just knew Joseph was handing over baby Jesus or something and needed his deep, "I love you man", moment.

It's basically like a Matrix moment where the movie stops time and gives us Trinity saying she loves Neo right after a roar of action.
The difference is that in The Matrix, we get to that slow down by having a massive gut punch to the audience over the protagonist in their darkest hour of need, and that set up leaps over to a scene involving pretty much just the two of the characters the love moment centers around - Neo wasn't there with most the entire crew about to be killed and then some other "Not-Neo Neo" shows up, wipes the floor of all of the threats and then everyone stands back as Trinity walks over and says she loves Neo before Not-Neo Neo takes Neo off on an adventure to make him Neo.

And if you're thinking that doesn't make sense because Mando isn't the one being taken off to get special training because he's not the one with the super powers...

    I don't.

I want to be very clear.
I don't hate this show. It's still one of the amazingly better pieces of storytelling out there.
It's lost the new shiny "just off the parking lot" polish - lost a little luster, but it's far from bad.

It's not Vampire Diaries by any stretch of the mind.

It has issues, most anything does, but it's still a pseudo neo-art deco western sci-fi poster dream.
It's about as close as I'm likely to get to something like The Rocketeer popping onto a screen anytime soon, and it's got Favreau behind the wheel so it's very easy for me to put on rose colored glasses and just chill and enjoy a nice family time as my daughters ogle their eyeballs out, and my wife enjoys only the 4th Star Wars story she's ever enjoyed so far.

It's FAR from bad. It's just slipping a bit, and I'm hoping they get back to where I'm in sync with it. If not, eh. Yeah. I'll probably eventually stop watching it.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

That is the nature of conversation, yes.
Different people come and go, engage and depart. If you watch a topic for too long, you'll just see it repeat itself - more or less. What tends to change are the people engaging, not the topic's particulars.

If you already have seen the fruition of the tangents, it's typically more enjoyable to flip on the ignore switch for the thread and move on to other topics.
In this case, this is my topic - it's rather discourteous for me to do that to it, I think.

    Jayson

Again I disagree. Ahsoka said "A Jedi" would hear his call and come. If I remember correctly, there is only one Jedi left.

And I'm not sure there is an issue with Luke showing up and swinging his light saber. It's the end of the season. He's gone off as has Grogu. It's still "The Mandalorian." I'm watching it to see the characters. I'm not going to be upset come 2022 and I'm not seeing Luke.

I really don't get the fear/aversion whatever adjective is appropriate to Luke, and I've never been the biggest Luke fan. But to each his own. :D

This is what I said at the time. After Ahsoka said "a Jedi" would hear his call if he went to the temple on the mountain I knew it had to be Luke. Ahsoka ain't a Jedi, and why send them only to then show up and train him? Makes no bloody sense. Ezra? Same issue. He's not a Jedi. I guess they could have had ANOTHER Jedi show up and say he was a survivor of order 66, but why?

I really don't get the seeming aversion to Luke amongst some fans and even some at LFL (or what I've perceived as such). I really don't get it.

When you're there to watch Clint Eastwood shoot some guys and save the day, you don't want to see Neo swoop in and save him at the last second.

Hey, a lot of people really liked watching Neo swoop in and save Clint Eastwood. Great for them. Doesn't work for me.
I'm not watching Mando because "I like Star Wars".

I'm watching Mando because MANDO was an interesting form of artistic expression in moving pictures.
LUKE is nothing to me outside of the Skywalker saga and is nothing but a firework show distraction from what I'm here for - I'm not here for him.
I showed up to the show called, "The Mandalorian" to watch The Mandalorian be The Mandalorian in the artistic thematic style set out by the show which had interested me.

Nothing in that moment was akin to that language and style which attracted me to the show. It was just a bunch of saber martial art fireworks.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I'm probably not understanding this but what if boba fett swooped in and saved mandalorians? What would be your preferred ending to that scene?

It would be less of a problem because it's at least thematically on tangent, but it can still go very off because Fett is a massive brandname and Mando is a little new guy with nowhere near the jawline of Fett.

You literally only need Fett's armor to exist and the mind immediately stops hearing dialogue for a moment while it spins through the thoughts of excitement spawned by Fett's armor.

We did see the Fett mix. I didn't like that either.

    How would I handle Fett?
Very slowly. For one, Fett needs time to be ogled without losing what's going on, but it can't be at a loss to our story's tempo or focus.

You have to get Mando into an away position like how Rey and Finn hid in the Falcon when Han and Chewie showed up. You had your time free because our heroes were hiding out. Our Han ogle time wasn't in contest of our mental tangent of Rey.

Same sort of thing. Whatever his setup, Mando needs to be 'exit stage left' doing something before Fett intro-steps on stage. Once we're done ogling over the prowess showboating of Fett, Mando needs to save Fett - not the other way around.

We need to see Mando one-up Fett and remind us whose story this is. So when Fett gets all fancy in a shootout, he needs to become trapped after kicking a bunch of arse and our hero comes back from stage left and mops the floor with the bad guys, stunning Fett with his ability.

At no point should Mando need Fett. Fett should need Mando.

Fill in the motives as appropriate.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Din Djarin didn't seek or ask for Fett's help. Fett made it his business to secure the child's return in appreciation of his armor's return. It's all placed in the context of their shared foundling status (Jango's to be exact) and Mandalorian notions of honour. Implying that neither of them really has a choice.
