New Members Introduction

Hello everyone,

I've loved Star Wars since I was 12 years old (I am now 25). My first real exposure to Star Wars beyond looking at Lego sets with curiosity and watching the first 15 minutes of ANH when I was young came about when my uncle showed me the OT. I watched almost all of it in one sitting and with that I had taken my first steps into a larger world. I saw AotC and TPM, in that order, shortly after and then saw RotS in theatres shortly after that. I loved, and still love, the PT. I recognize their flaws, but I think they are remarkable achievements of imaginative storytelling.

When I was a teenager I got into the Expanded Universe and became an avid Star Wars reader. For a time EU books became the primary fuel for my fandom. I loved how they deepened and expanded the universe and the characters and also how they added maturity to the Saga and allowed it to grow up with me. I also really loved the new characters introduced, particularly the extended Skywalker family - Mara, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, Ben, Tenel Ka, Allana, Jagged. I continue to read and re-read the EU and treat it as an alternate universe.

During this time I became a member of EUCantina.net and that site became my Star Wars home on the internet. It was a very special community of some really great people. Our numbers have been dwindling in recent years unfortunately and a few weeks ago the forums went down. I hope they will be back, but the very real possibility that they won't has caused me to look elsewhere to find a new Star Wars community.

The ST has been a pretty big letdown for me. I won't go into too much detail here, but I really dislike some of the story changes and I feel it lacks the soul of the Lucas films. Outside of the ST, I have enjoyed almost all of the Disney content in film and TV. R1 is a great Star Wars movie and I thoroughly enjoyed Rebels. Solo is enjoyable, despite my dislike of recasting Han Solo on principle. Resistance is okay. I haven't read much of the new books.

I look forward to discussing one of my favourite fictional universes with you all.

Hi Cantina. I'm a life-long Star Wars fan, I love all the films and a lot besides. This place was recommended to me by a fellow forumer as somewhere one can have decent, respectful Star Wars discussions, looking forward to it!

I probably need to make a post explaining a few things. I am relatively new here and have recently invited several new members here. I don't want to alarm anyone or disrupt the good things that are going on here. We just want to join in. It's hard to find a forum that is properly moderated where people can have intelligent conversation. When I found this place, I felt compelled to tell others about it. I've only invited those I consider to be the best and brightest, people who love Star Wars and good conversation. I'm sure you are all nervous about a new group of people showing up. I was apprehensive about the whole thing myself, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Always in motion the future is, but I hope to see great things.
