Yes, I have read Legends! I mostly read them more than the sequel universe.

 

Welcome to the Cantina! I definitely recommend the Star Wars shows because they provide a lot of great content to the universe. The Clone Wars does a better job at telling the Prequel Trilogy’s story than the actual Prequels. Rebels and The Mandalorian are really good as well; Resistance is skippable but since you seem to be a big fan of the Sequel era, you might find some value in it!

Hey everyone, name is Mike.

I have been a Star Wars fan since I was young. Remember when Return of the Jedi came out on VHS and we watched it all the time. Really hit my stride later in my college years when I started reading the EU novels. Still have them boxed up and ready for my son when the time comes.

as with anything, between adulthood and starting a family it went on the back burner but now that my son Jack is 7 it has all started to come back. We have sat down and started watching the movies and that has lead to me keeping up with everything in between, shows and what is considered canon novels. Definitely reminding me why I loved all this so much when I was younger and really excited to share it all with my son.

with all this I thought it would be good to get involved in the star wars community again and I found the podcast a little while ago.

@MandoMike !! Welcome, your story rings true for me as well. I was 12 when I saw the original in the theater in 77. Yep I am an old fart! Loved all the movies up through Rotj then life intervened and an Air Force career, Then got married and we have 3 boys now aged 17,16,13 that have reignited my passion for SW. We are reveling in The Mandalorian here, when a new episode drops we have a family watch party. Take care and hope to see u around here

Hello there.

I'm Klabauter and as my name might have given away already I am from Germany. I'm in my twenties have been a fan of Star Wars for a long time. I am also a big fan of forums in general and think it is a shame they get replaced by social medias and comment sections like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc. that much. Other things I'm very much in to are Wrestling as well as some Fantasy and Sci-Fi franchises (mainly Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Star Trek).

Being a Star Wars fan and liking forums is what ultimately made me sing up here to discuss Star Wars with other fans; especially The Mandalorian as it is the most current Star Wars we have.

Some things about myself and Star Wars:

• My favorite Star Wars characters are Ahsoka Tano, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex, Maul, Padme among many more with Ahsoka definitely being at the top of the list. To me she is the most interesting character in the whole Star Wars universe and one of the most complex, too.
• I have watched Episode I - IX, Rogue One, Solo, The Clone Wars and Rebels and I am currently watching Resistance on Disney+. I also watched both Star Wars Holiday Specials, various Lego Star Wars stuff and all the Canon short films like Forces of Destiny and Galaxy of Adventures. I have yet to finish watching Resistance and have to watch Droids and Ewoks as to having watched everything that is to watch canon wise. Which is somewhat of a goal I want to reach sooner rather than later...
  Other than that I follow along the Comics having read some of them while consuming some of them via YouTube channels who do movie like breakdowns (not naming them here as it might be considered promotion). Same with the old EU/Legends. Read parts of it, consumed other parts via Wikis or YouTube breakdowns.
  As for the games (canonical or not): I have never played any of those. However I watched playthroughs of all of them because I'm interested in the stories they tell in those game. I do play Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.
• My favorite Star Wars movie is Rogue One.
• I'm a big fan of fan films. Especially those that showcase certain characters while not contradicting canon stories or expanding them to much.
• I like all the trilogies for different reasons. I also do not view any of the trilogies as perfect, they all have (sometimes: massive) flaws.
  • The Original Trilogy will always be what started this whole Universe and that alone is something that gives it value.
  • The Prequel Trilogy gave us a whole lot of backstory and one of the best episodes with Episode III and it gave birth to The Clone Wars TV-series. It had some massive flaws though with how they handled certain characters and parts of the story and structured the whole thing.
  • The Sequel Trilogy has the massive flaw of somewhat undermining Anakin Skywalkers story. However it introduced various interesting aspects to Star Wars and greatly expanded Luke Skywalkers character. In the OT he had no really character imho despite being the protagonist. Luke in the ST is much more interesting to me than he ever was before.
• I'm fine with the way Disney reorganized the canon and I also think that many fans and fanpages didn't understand the old canon structure and still don't as many things being "reintroduced" to canon actually never were canon to begin with as a higher level of canonicity cotradicted it (e.g. the whole Fetts being Mandalorians argument). The difference between Pre-Disney canon and Post-Disney canon is basically only the number of canonicity levels being reduced from six to two.
• I think many attempts to fix the story of the Sequel Trilogy by fans with Force Ghost on Exegol and stuff like that are not thought through and are actually worse than what Johnson and Abrams did.
• I don't like Mace Windu at all. He basically is the embodiment of everything wrong with the Jedi order when the Sith take over in Order 66.

I too am a huge Rogue One fan, although A New Hope will always be my favorite....

 

windu sucks, though his whole purpose is to demonstrate the fall of the jedi order, and to prove the point that they must be replaced. Have you read Dark Disciple? If not, you really should, it shows a lot of windu's flaws but is mainly centered on ventress and quinlan vos

Hi all, my names Preet, like probably most of you, I've been a Star Wars fan my whole life. Grew up on the OT through the 80's and they had a lot to do with shaping who I am. PT came out in my late teens, and though I do see the faults that others do, I can't hate them, they still mean something to me. They are actually the reason I met my wife, so I literally owe part of who I am now to them.

Mainly a fan of the movies and some of the games, played all the original run of X-Wing games, Shadows of the Empire, Jedi Knight series, Star Wars Galaxies and so on. Got into the EU here and there but not too heavily. Fan of both Clone Wars series (2d and 3d) and of Rebels.

Big fan of the Original movies, have my issues but like the PT, mixed feelings on ST. Like Rogue One, not to fussed about Solo.

Outside of the holy trilogy, I'm animator working in the videogame industry. I'm learning to become a writer which has given a lot of tools and reason to analyze stories that I love, am indifferent to and hate lol. This more recently has lead me to start a podcast with some friends about movies, and even more recently a YouTube channel where I'm doing video essays breaking movies. Obviously started with Star Wars A New Hope lol.

Hello There,
My name is Gabe and I am really new to forums but I am a huge SW fan. My favorite character is Obiwan Kenobi and my favorite movie is probably revenge of the Sith or Return of the Jedi. Since I am super new, any tips to get involved would be greatly appreciated, I just want to talk star wars with other people who love it.
