Just finished them. The first scene with the order 66 bit was amazing scene, reminded me of everything I loved about the prequels. Getting to see Jedi at the height of there powers is aways incredible.

The first episode is a good slower burner, like all the ethical dilemma stuff facing Kenobi, his interaction with Lars and the Jedi on the run were really special.

Gonna be honest I hated every scene with young Leia, found her really annoying especially in the second episode I just wanted her of my TV. What is Lucas films obsession with giving everyone a child sidekick.

Loved the arc of Kenobi having to embrace his powers again after song.

I’m enjoying the interactions between the Inquisitors. The power struggle is fun. Was shocked the grand Inquisitor was stabbed, but obviously we know he doesn’t die.

thought the reveal of Anakin being a loving could have been done better, I thought know one was supposed to know Anakin was Vader?

Can’t wait till next week, fingers crossed for less Leia though.

Earlier I mentioned I had a few quibbles. Leia was one of them and Reva was another. They didn't take away from my overall impression, but I think both could have been handled differently (my main problem was Reva but whatever). I'm just happy to see Ewan as Obi Wan once again.

So...in episode 2, when Obi-Wan is straining to save baby Leia from her fall with the Force...

Why was it so hard? Was it a difficult maneuver? Was Obi-Wan rusty? Had Obi-Wan cut himself off from the Force (a la Luke Skywalker in TLJ and Cere and Cal of Fallen Order) to avoid capture and this was his first time using the Force again?

    Thoughts?

I'm assuming he had cut himself off from the force to help make it more difficult to find him. Thus he was trying to reengage with the force for the first time in a decade. To quote Vader in IV, "Your powers are weak old man... You should not have come back." :D

I loved it. I had begun growing wary for this show after not liking the other small-screen live-action offerings from Star Wars, but this hit on pretty much every level imaginable for me. I thought Episode 1 was significantly stronger but judging them as a package because I think that's the most logical thing to do, they're both fantastic.

Sidenote: This isn't calling out anyone here thank goodness, but I've seen a decent amount of hate for the young Leia actress in other corners of the internet and it's like... man. First off, she's great. Even if she wasn't, I couldn't imagine taking time out of my day to hate on a child. It's almost as if some Star Wars fans have learned nothing from what they did to Jake Lloyd. Do better.

    Hey everybody,
do you firmly realize, that Jar Jar Binks is actually part of the Obiwan Kenobi show, as he appears from 3:31 to 3:33 in the opening flashbacks... [IMG]

    Meesa like it.

Little Leia did a wonderful job. I thought the writers captured the Leia attitude, even if some people didn't like it. Those are tough shoes to fill at any age.

I'm convinced we'll get that later.

    Absolutely.
For the win, we note we spent some good times on Alderaan city, architecture and forests. And it's clearly a pleasure to see Bail and Breha again.

    Just sayin'.

He did seem to be trying to connect with Qui-Gon though. Maybe he thought Qui-Gon would do all the work. :p

That’s another thing that has to be commended. Especially in the conversation she has with her cousin. It was Leia to a tee.

I'm still in shock that this actually happened. As a fan who watched A New Hope on VHS over and over as a kid.. I always wanted to see the story of how Obi Wan watched over Luke and Leia. Why Leia reached out to Obi Wan of all people, the dynamic between Uncle Owen and Obi Wan.. what that glance between Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru meant. Mindblowing that we're getting this in fully believable live action.

The way they're getting these characters to interact is great, the logic of the story is great, and the emotional weight of it all interspersed with Kenobi's flashbacks/issues is great. Vivian is perfect as Leia.

Nothing to complain about except the editing isn't quite as sharp as Mando, and Leia's chase scenes could have been more polished.

Truly though, amazing work so far.

I don’t get the beef with kid Leia - that’s exactly how I imagined her as a child. Fearless, already wise - against injustice. It was lovely to see her relationship with her adopted parents.

It was crazy to see Obi-Wan so defeated - when he turned away from a Jedi ally. That’s when I realised just how broken he was.

Tonally, I can’t lie - I didn’t think it hit the same distinctive feel as a show like Mando. The fake Jedi, Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers contrasted with banal life in the outer rim. I guess that’s what life is though, a mixture of all things weird and wonderful.

I enjoyed it too, except for the Mando stand alone episodes. I loved the finale.

It was interesting that Yoda's name didn't come up once. Even when Kenobi tried to brush Organa off and told him to find someone else. That would have been the time, if any, for him to have been mentioned.

The look of horror and heartbreak on Obi-Wan's face when he realizes Anakin/Vader is still alive is why you should cast Ewan in everything.

My only real criticism is the recap of the prequels was excessive and sort of highlighted that trilogy's shortcomings. It might have been better if they had kept it to four or five key moments including Palpatine commanding Anakin to wipe out the Jedi, including his friend Kenobi, and pronouncing the Jedi the enemies of the Empire. As it is it just feels like one of those perfunctory featurettes that tries to cram an entire trilogy into 30 seconds.

I disagree. As a professional editor I have to say these 4 minutes are beautifully edited.

But it's a weird criticism IMO. This recap is skippable and thus not really part of the episode itself.
