FWIW, I have zero clue who Grace Randolph is and have never heard of her prior to seeing that tweet.

Nevertheless, it seems she did have some accurate info as it seems there have been script problems that have prompted an indefinite hold on the project.

While I have no wish to belabor the point, it is funny to me that everyone wants to say she has no clue about what she's talking about (and for all I know, she doesn't)... but after Collider's report - and now Hollywood Reporter's confirmation - it is clear now that she wasn't entirely off base: the core claim, that script problems were threatening production, are apparently true. Sure, she overshot it with the whole "cancelled" business that she later walked back, but whatever sources or info she came across had partially correct info at minimum. So even if she's wrong almost exclusively, she wasn't entirely wrong on this one.

While I would agree that the crew may not have been told to "find other work" per se, Collider is reporting that the crew at Pinewood that has been preparing for filming has "been sent home." A script delay means a pre-production delay. Even if LFL hopes to retain some of the same crew, it's seems Kennedy is only giving a summer window to resume pre-production if they have a greenlit script. No one is going to sit on their hands for six months on a maybe, and not everyone involved will be regular employees of LFL or Pinewood; they will either get shifted to other projects or will pick up work with other productions in the meantime.

We Star Wars fans have had more than our share of misfortune, regarding delays and script toss-outs. I mean, look at the schedule of Marvel films coming out in the next two years: lots of exact release dates. Now compare that with Star Wars: there is literally no solid release date for ANY movie or tv show, theatrical or Disney+.
I really hope we get some firm schedule or word of what’s coming out soon.

Yet as far as I'm concerned it's a non story.

"It’s just slid to next year, that’s all. The scripts were really good. I think now that Episode IX came out and everyone at Lucasfilm's got more time to spend on the writing, they felt like they wanted more time to spend on the writing." McGregor said. "I’ve read about eighty, ninety percent of what they’ve written so far, and it’s really, really good. Instead of shooting this August, they just want to start shooting in January, that's all. Nothing more dramatic than that. It often happens in projects, they just wanted to push it to next year. It will have the same release date, I don’t think it will affect the release date. They're still shooting towards having the film [show] release when it was going to be originally."

McGregor wasn't able to put significant input into the Prequel Trilogy because GL was considered a god, and Lucas knew what he wanted. It's apparent that KK doesn't have a creative bone in her body, she is a great producer and has made billions with the Sequel Trilogy but she is not Lucas so I think McGregor is making sure Ob1 is done right. I won't be surprised if the series is canceled for creative differences.

You're mad. They're not going to cancel the series. Especially if the lead actor has been on board since the beginning and has this fan support for getting done. As Ewan stated this is all part of the production process. As far as him not being able to put much creative control, he's not supposed to anyway.

I think it would behoove people to do a bit of research on the logistics and complexities of television production, because this is neither extraordinary or cause for alarm.

Also, Grace Randolph is a pot-stirrer who deliberately peddles false or misleading information.

McGregor is already doing damage control, also why is KK saying the show is ready to go (Scripts are done etc etc) at D23, and now months later they are doing rewrites with a new writer they still dont have ??

    1) Ewan confirming that the start of shooting has been delayed while also reaffirming his own commitment to and faith in the series isn't "doing damage control".

    2) You clearly don't understand how television production works

My man I know how these productions work, my main problem is simply that KK came on stage at D23 and telling the world the thing could start shooting now with 100% finished scripts. That was back in August.

Why now ? 5 Months later?

Television productions only rarely start filming with a catalog of completely finished scripts, and even if all of the scripts are finished before a television series begins filming, rewrites and changes in narrative direction are a common occurrence.

We don't know why but obviously they have their reasons. It could be anything, from waiting for a wanted actor or shooting location to be freed up, to budget policy reasons (which fiscal year Disney want's this charged to), to give time to rewrites in light of something that wasn't relevant earlier (perhaps some Project Luminous development or even a Mandorian thing, or whatever), and many more.

To state that KK is a bad producer line boss because she greenlights an extention when a reason for it has come up ranks somewhere between foolish and disingenuous. We are all eager for Kenobi to air, but this is getting very silly indeed.

It's been confirmed that the delay in the start of filming is due to throwing out the two scripts that were already completed and needing to restructure the Writer's Room.

So didnt participate in this over the last few days as my family was having the time of our lives being totally engrossed in Star Wars at Galaxies Edge in Orlando. So great, just so great.

Now as for this and why could KK say scripts were done and now they want to re-work. To me it is rather simple they hired Deborah Chow to direct the whole show and certainly she would then read all the scripts and have additions, subtractions, and other ideas that would be taken into account and they simply want to rework the scripts to fit the directors ideas. I do believe they really trust her and want the scripts to reflect her vision.

I always thought the Obi-Wan series is the most difficult to do. The #1 reason it is happening is because people love Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. This isnt a good reason and simply put they need to take their time on this, I dont feel the scripts will be the issue. It is the story that is the issue and they need to take their time.

Oh really? You sure about that? I think we can say it was patently true. The Hollywood press knew there was trouble behind the scenes and kept it quiet to protect their access.
