I don't agree that TLJ tells us that the need has been fulfilled. There's nothing in the movie which indicates that Kylo telling her what he "knew" meant he search was at an end or that the topic was no longer going to be on the agenda.

Maybe the topic wasn't very interesting in the first place?

Off topic...I wish they'd given her a sabrestaff, still baffled why they didn't do that.

They kind of gave her a saberstaff at the end of the movie. And it looks very nice.

The human condition's inherent sexual condition, of give and take, of pull and push, of the "capitalism of socialism", is Rey's inherent legacy in TLJ. Especially, this is in regard to her and Kylo Ren's paused stand off in Snoke's throne room. As Rey watches, and doesn't sway of her inclination, the very fact of her having an inclination is a sexual ideology of audience awareness.

Of the assumption, that it's myself you're replying to: one of the human condition's general aspects, is the sanity of acting to take. In fiction, the protagonist construct ironically - ironically, because the consumption of materials in the real world requires physical labour - means the sexuality of taking things, and using them. Rey, in TLJ, with her pronounced sexual hairstyle, by Rian Johnson, is a keen user of this paradigm, especially in Snoke's throne room

Ok, ok, ok. Firstly, @thomasmariel Welcome to The Cantina! Great timing as it's probably about to get lively round these parts with Mando S3 on Wednesday!

Now, I gotta know. WTF is a "pronounced sexual hairstyle" ? And, where can I get one?

Also, I never knew RJ was a hairstylist in TLJ. Man! That guy has talents.

    AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anything less than a .....striking......purple before performing the Holdo maneuver would be uncivilized.

Thank you for the welcome. The hairstyle, of Rey in TLJ is a distinct divergence from TFA, of a sociology meta context

    Okay...
I might be wrong, but I think I know what you're saying regarding 'hair'; it also is shown in the character's clothing, and was also an interesting point in the costumes of the OC characters (apart from Han, who just changed his jacket)!

Throughout the OC both Leia and Luke underwent costume changes, and in Leia's case hairstyle changes, which reflected their character growth. Leia began the OT as as a young woman with a very 'chaste' almost nun like, dress and hairstyle. It changed notably both at the end of ANH and in ESB. Gone was the high collared, all covering gown, which was replaced by a no nonsense 'warrior's' jumpsuit and then a red costume on Bespin...her hair also was worn looser. In ROTJ she ends up with her hair long and loose, and a much more relaxed mode of dress. It represented both her maturity into a woman but also her..ahem...'sexual' awakening regarding her eventual romance with Han.

Luke meanwhile started out in white (or off white) pyjamas showing him as an inexperienced youth then by ESB he wore a beige flight suit which signified him becoming a seasoned fighter and pilot, and a commander of men. By ROTJ he very interestingly wore a black costume - but with a white lining. This referred to him facing the 'darkness' but still being a good, and ultimately noble, person on the inside. At the end of the day the clothing worn by the Twins showed them growing up.

The same thing happened in the first two chapters of the ST. Rey started out the series with a little girl's hairstyle, and like Luke, off white clothing, showing her as a naive young girl. TLJ saw her ditch the little girl hairdo and her clothing becoming darker in tone, representing her growing into a woman and a Force user who would have to face her own 'darkness'. The loose hairdo could also hint at her possible relationship with Kylo/Ben, although a lot of people disliked this.

However, unlike the Twins, whose costumes and hairstyles reflected them growing from youths into adults, Rey's outfit in TROS curiously has the exact opposite effect. Rather than maturing and moving forward she regresses. Where in TLJ she had to face the fact that her parents were no good, and it was time to put them and the past behind her and move forward with her life, for TROS back came the 'kiddie hairdo', and she was dressed in pure white. Terrio mentioned in an interview that he 'wanted her to look like Leia' in ANH - but ANH was the beginning of Leia's journey whereas TROS was supposed to be the end of Rey's. And once again her past played a major part in her role with the revelation that 'you're a Palpatine' - (I really feel for Adam Driver having to say that, I cringed just listening to it)!

So ultimately Rey's story....didn't really go anywhere, did it? She ended where she began, alone on a desert world with BB8. She regressed. I always think of an article one disgrntled reviewer did which ended: 'Rey has become a creepy Stepford smiler'.

I sort of half expected Rey to appear in TROS with a Padawan crew cut & rat-tail.
