Or another one of Snoke's lies. He did influence Kylo with his mind all his life. This'd be easy for him.

Force Ghosts Anakin and Obi Wan can appear young as a ghost to Rey now that Luke is out. Wouldn't have made sense for Luke to see a young Obi Wan ghost. In the context of Rey it makes complete sense. I think Rey is a Kenobi and Kylo is a liar.

Anakin first, and then Luke. Now that Snoke is dead, maybe his presence acted as a barrier for force ghosts to approach, and Grandfather Ani can finally come and give his sole surviving descendant all the Xmas and bday presents he owes him.

When Yoda showed up, I seriously gasped. Rarely do I physically react during movies, but that took me by surprise. (Though I had a gut feeling Yoda would show up, Frank Oz was at the premiere). I was waiting for Obi-Wan and Anakin to show up, but they didn't, which also took me by surprise. (I thought that they would have had all the ghosts together at once, like in ROTJ.)

Heh heh, I was honestly kinda expecting Anakin to show up when Luke was about to set fire to the tree. Would've been ironic. :)

In all seriousness, I'm starting to worry that Anakin and Obi-Wan won't show up in Ep. 9. I can see why, because Obi-Wan would be a tad inconsistent and young Anakin next to old Luke wouldn't feel right. (With makeup and CGI, I think that it could potentially work.) I think having Anakin appear with, at least, Kylo is a necessity, for all the parallels they're doing between the two of them. Heck, Kylo overthrowing the Supreme Leader is a parallel to what Anakin was planning to do in ROTS with the Emperor.

It started with Anakin, it stays with him. Kylo clearly couldn't carry the mantle forward.

It's certainly plausible that Snoke was manipulating Ben by pretending to be the ghost of Vader.

But I hesitate at letting "Snoke was in his head" be the explanation for every Ben Solo flaw.

Whaat? Yoda couldn't have no kids? Him and Maz used to go together like 800 years ago.... 900 years old you know how many kids, grandkids, greatgrandkids he might have???

Force ghosts interacting with the physical realm breaks the rules. Besides that it's so stupid. It's like Mary Poppins Leia.

Force ghosts are interacting with the physical realm since ROTJ. Furthermore there aren't really established rules for Force ghost in the current canon.

Ghost Yoda being able to interact with lightning in the last jedi surely contradicts what has been set up before. And again it's pretty stupid.

I think there’s a lot of confusion with how Obi Wan told Luke that he could not intervene if he confronted Vader in ESB, and then we see force ghosts in the sequels summoning lightning strikes and lifting X Wings. If they have such power, why not use it in the fight against evil.

I’ll be honest though, Yoda and Luke being able to do that as force ghosts is the least of my problems with the ST. It didn’t really bother me that much. But I can see how some people think it’s a problem.

Obi Wan said, "I cannot interfere". That's super, duper vague. When people say they can't do something, it can mean:

I don't want to do it
    I shouldn't do it
I don't know how to do it
    I literally can't do it

Nothing has been contradicted by the force ghosts in the ST.

None of those things are combative and amount to parlor tricks with inanimate objects. For all we know they cannot interact with living beings THAT way.

I have no memory of a force ghost speaking to a dark side character.

For me, Obi Wan's statement simple means he cannot interfere with the future, or destiny. Yoda interacting with the tree didn't change anything, Rey had already taken the books. It was just a tree.

I always figured that was Obi-Wan's choice not help. You know to help persuade Luke to stay and train. Kind of like his "certain point of view" comment in the next movie. There has been no established rules about force ghost. In ROTJ Obi-Wan stepped on a branch and sat on a log while talking to Luke. How is that any differently than what Yoda did? He still interacted with the physical environment not matter how you try to dismiss it.

There's hasn't been any books or materials that have said what force ghosts can and cannot do.

My own head canon on this is that Obi-Wan, having become a Force Ghost -- presumably a luminous being of pure goodness, or whatever -- could not interact with places and people strong with the Dark Side. In short, he can't go near Darth Vader and his ilk anymore.
