Man, there are a ton of scenes that are fantastic.

To start, when Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan first remove their hoods on the Federation ship. Wow. That underwater city is also just amazing. I also love when Qui Gonna and Maul are dueling in the dust and then you get that shot of Maul holding his lightsaber... Gives me goose bumps.

Another one is just the various shots of Coruscant at night.

Also when the doors open and they see Maul standing there, towards the end... The music blasts and yeah, that was just fantastic. I would go on but I can't get any photos right now except the one I uploaded. Plus I could go on and on for days about the various scenes that are amazing.

That shot of Maul with the music is stunning. I love how Qui-Gon says aftward as he recovers from the duel “he was well trained in the Jedi Arts.”

Darth Maul in TPM is a brillant case of less is more; he speaks very little and every look and facial exoression is full of nuance and subtlety.

It really is a masterpiece. Anakin at the beginning has no traits that indicate a fall, which is perfect because the slow fade the dark side is within. Yes he obeys Palyps to kill Dooku at the beginnig, but his reluctance and guilt before and after do not hint at a “More Machine Than Man.” It is only once Anakin marches on the Jedi Temple that we see a major shift and commitment to the ways of the Sith. He may weep for a momenf on Mustafar, but when Padme arrives, the transformation into Vader is complete (spiritually and emotionally).

Is it cheating to list all 3 movies in their entirety as "highlights"?

Because I love practically everything about the PT; if forced to be choosy, though, these are the moments I'd highlight, divided by film:
    The Phantom Menace
    * The queen contacting the Neimoidians
    * Anakin and Sebulba's first argument-conversation in the market square
    * Qui-Gon trying to use Force persuasion on Watto
    * The Boonta Eve Classic podrace
    * All 4 stages of the Battle of Naboo

    Attack of the Clones
    * The speeder/droid chase through the skies of Coruscant
    * Padme and Anakin's time on Naboo
    * Anakin's mental breakdown in the Lars Homestead garage
    * Obi-Wan's time on Kamino
    * The entirety of the Battle of Geonosis

    Revenge of the Sith
    * The entirety of Obi-Wan and Anakin's mission to rescue Palpatine
    * Anakin and Palpatine's opera conversation
    * Anakin and Padme's silent connection as Anakin decides to disobey Made Windu's orders and go stop Palpatine's assassination/arrest
    * Palpatine formally christening Anakin with the name Darth Vader
    * Padme confronting Anakin/Vader on Mustafar
    * Anakin/Vader and Obi-Wan's lightsaber duel on Mustafar

Every scene with palpatine in it lol. But seriously, is there a better scene in the entire 9 movies than palpatine telling anakin that he's a bad guy? Its incredible! I love how much he loves being evil - even when he's fighting (or even losing) hes still laughing and being the bad guy! Absolutely love it and star wars wouldn't be star wars without the greatest villain in cinema history (with vader being the second greatest villain). How good is it that we have the 1st and 2nd greatest baddies in one movie!

To me, the prequels define Star Wars. Because without them it would be too easy to call the OT... well... a fluke. Because even with all its amazing innovations, the OT was a success in many ways thanks to luck. Without these actors most of the dialogue wouldn't work. Without Ford, Solo wouldn't have become a legend. Hell, without Alec Guinness on the poster many people would see the film in the first place. Lucas was lucky in many ways.

But with the prequels he's proven that it was all him. Not directors for hire. The innovation (the thing that once defined the saga), the amazing level of details, the story that has a start, a middle and an end (unlike the certain other trilogy)... and what I respect the most is how he doesn't actually plagiarise the other films. He's not reliant on the known iconography - he creates the new one. Unlike the certain trilogy. The prequels feel fresh and new and thought out. Its designs to this day are the best designs of the saga. Its villains are on par with Vader and Jabba. I really can't understand how a fan of SW might dislike it. Maybe because it was shot before this creatively bankrupt era of fan service, when every single thing about a reboot and a sequel must be safe and recognisable. Lucas has created two vastly different worlds in the same universe. They coexist and yet feel different. And that is magic.
