Star Wars game players unite, here’s your fast-paced Star Wars themed card game with one absolute: Eliminate your opponents on the field of battle!

    Read on after the jump!

There is a HUGELY POPULAR themed card game in the UK by the company Winning Moves called Top Trumps, but being in the U.S., I’d never heard of it, but I can tell you that I understand why it’s so popular across the pond… it’s easy, super competitive, and addicting, and if you’ve ever played the card game “War”, you’ll take right to it.

Now I won’t spend a lot of time on an explanation of the rules of play as you can find them here, but will give you the basics.

Deal out the entire deck (30-32 cards depending on the deck) face down to 2-6 players. Each player holds their cards face up but may ONLY look at their top card. The player to go first chooses the best attribute (usually with the highest power rating) from their top card, like “Jedi Powers-67”. All other players read out the SAME statistic from their face-up card. Whoever has the best or highest value wins and places all the top cards including their own to the bottom of their pile. They then choose the statistic for the next round. The objective is to eliminate all other players and win all of the cards.

For the Star Wars themed game (there are many Top Trumps themes), you can get it in either a Death Star collectible tin with two decks of cards included, OR you can just get the decks individually, but everything Star Wars themed comes in the following variations.

Death Star collectible tin that includes decks for Episodes I-III, as well as Episodes IV-VI as seen at the beginning of the article, as well as a variety of individual decks from Rebels, Rogue One, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi (not pictured), and Rise of the Bounty Hunters as seen below.

Examples of the character attributes are shown below that both reflects the different artwork styles from different decks, as well as the differing attributes and power levels.

As i said above, it can be slightly addicting, as we played through 7 decks in an evening and considered starting again but the hour didn't agree, so we'll go another night.

In the end, I was impressed with the game, which has been long established, but the Star Wars theme obviously sold me. I also have to admit that the varying artwork from deck to deck also keeps the game interesting, as well as the fact that some real quality time was spent laying out the artistic themes, which I consider all of them to be winners.

Even if you're not a card player, these would all be a great addition to any Star Wars collection, and they're now going to be added to this author's eclectic Star Wars collection.

The Star Wars Top Trumps card collection can be purchased directly from the Top Trumps website. Enjoy!

It's funny because I could have sworn they already had a SW sets oh well if I see them I would definitely pick some of these sets up.

My daughter has the Rebels and TFA packs.

Of the two Rebels is more playable, mainly as the categories on the TFA set are really weird - especially the ‘Fear and Anger’ one (see FN-2187 card example above)
I should dig them out and post some of the more crazy ones!

I'm just stunned the Americans aren't familiar with Top Trumps! What on earth did the kids do in the 80's!

Hmmm, I don't know Dungeons & Dragons that well, but it seems to lack the portability of a card game.

So, here's a couple of those odd TFA Top Trumps cards...

Firstly, your favourite droids really DO have feelings... like Fear and Anger. Apparently R2 has no Attitude though

...clearly these were made pre-TLJ as our boy Luke also has no Attitude while Snoke has little more Anger than a droid... :D
    [IMG]

...and finally, the people's Princess is having to deal with goons like Snap Wexley, the Honour-less git! :p
