Has there been any news, announcements or rumors about a follow up to rebels yet?

I know dave filoni has a lot going on of late, but watching the series again, I'm struck by just how well planned out rebels' overall story arc was and I'm just about certain he has a good idea of where he'd go next- and i for one would really like to be taken on that journey.

Is there a reason we've not heard anything yet? Was reception to the show more lukewarm than I thought? Or did i miss something?

Well, if they can circle back to complete The Clone Wars after a long break, I see no reason why Rebels couldn't be revisited at some point in the future, too.

I just mentioned in the Mando thread that I binge-watched Rebels over the last week. Agree with you that it was well-planned and executed. I'd love for a follow-up ... Ahsoka & Sabine searching for Ezra; maybe Ezra and Thrawn (assuming Thrawn survived) having to work together to survive in the Unknown Region or wherever they ended up. I think it's a given that we see a sequel in some form or fashion, given how Filoni left Ahsoka and Sabine's future so ripe with exploration. Plus, we know how much Filoni loves Ahsoka. I'd prefer a Disney+ series that gives him room to really flesh out a story over the course of a few seasons. I have no preference if it's animated or live-action.

Saw some stuff flying around on Social Media yesterday and ComicBook.Com that a followup to Rebels is coming to Disney+. Has anyone else seen any information about this?

I have not. But good catch. I'd love to keep up with General Syndulla and Sabine. and I guess Ezra if he has to be there whatever.

They don't end Rebels that way if they didn't think they can continue the story later. There's a lot of potential for a sequel.

The Rebels sequel is an inevitability IMO. I don’t think we’re gonna see it this year like some of the rumors were suggesting (especially with the current situation of the world right now.)

I think there’s a good chance that some of the Original Trilogy characters could play a role in this series. Maybe I’m wearing a tinfoil hat here, but there are some potential signs:
    • Mark Hamill did like a Twitter post by Dee Bradley Baker (the voice of Rex and the clones) about a secret project he was voice acting on.
    • Anthony Daniels made a post recently about doing voice work for something animated. That could be something Lego related, but I kinda doubt that for some reason.
Besides some possible clues, I personally think that Lucasfilm would be missing a great opportunity to have Luke meeting Ahsoka (and probably Rex) in a post-ROTJ animated series like this. They were the two of the people to Anakin was closest to and if all three are still kicking around this time, why not have them meet up? Story-wise, the search for Ezra could also be used to foreshadow Luke’s exile by the time of the Sequels.

The potential that this show could have, regardless of which rumors and speculation are true, is really exciting to me. Seeing Ahsoka and Sabine search across the galaxy while Ezra and Thrawn are doing their own thing already seems really cool to me, but seeing OT characters and connections to several other parts of Star Wars gets me even more excited.

I am curious to what the potential live-action Ahsoka series could mean for this though. (And I think there’s a good chance that this rumor is true because I’m doubtful that LFL would cancel a big actress like Rosario Dawson to only play Snips in an episode of Mandalorian at most.) Both shows would probably be taking place around the same time.

Filoni flat out stated there would not be a rebels sequel. Now he also stated that those characters could appear somewhere else. He deliberately left it with places to go, new stories. Knowing what we know of Filoni, i expect Ahsoka to appear in the Mandalorian. I also expect a live action Sabine to appear in Mandalorian as well. It makes too much sense. I then expect a new series with the two of them to premier at some point in time in the future. It may be live action though, we will have to wait and see.

reasons are simple. Ahsoka and sabine were last seen together, how long after Endor we don't know for sure. Mando takes place 5 years after Endor. So logic dictates that since Ahsoka and Sabine are together, they would likely appear together on Mando as well.

There are 2 people alive who might have some idea where Baby Yoda comes from they are Luke, who can literally ask Yoda, and Ahsoka.

There are two poeple who know about the Dark Saber, Ahsoka and Sabine.

There is only one Mandalorian trained to fight with the Darksaber. Sabine.

So my guess is Sabine trains Mandalorian to use a lightsaber and he uses that knowledge to defeat Moff Gideon, and perhaps later train baby yoda.

That conversation between Luke and Yoda would be hilarious to see and possibly be awkward at the same time. I could see a Maury type of situation here...

I would be cool to see all of the rebel gang end up looking for Ezra. Remember, Ezra counting on it. That would be cool. Maybe we will see an older Ezra fighting off the last inquisitors??? Idk...

They would have to make new inquisitors cause all the other comic book ones are dead by this point, but more inquisitors fighting experienced Ezra would be cool. He would annoy me less too! Also when they went into hyperspace didn’t they come out in regular space and would have suffocated? I always wondered that.

Indeed. New inquistors would have to be made, but yeah. It would be amazing! We could also see Hera and Kanan’s son and what he could bring to the rebellion!

Bo Katan will appear in the Mandalorian, to what extent I don't know. I imagine this is how Ahsoka and Sabine appear prior to going off to search for Ezra.

While I am not a big fan of this show, I did like where they left it off. Out of all the characters who “grew” Sabine Wren was that person. Personally, I’d like to see more of her and Ahsoka searching for Ezra.

I think the implication is that he's probably out there somewhere.

Like, I guess if he'd stayed on the exposed bridge he'd have died, but there was plenty of ambiguity as to what could've happened. I'm pretty sure Pablo didn't just yeet them off into the vacuum of space, then tease the Sabine and Ahsoka team-up just so they could find a bloated frozen corpse some few years later.
