I was surprised there was no thread like this. Here you can recommend YouTube videos for others to watch. Here are a couple of mine:

The Ideology of the First Order by Lindsay Ellis - Lindsay creates one of the best video essays on films in general and here she discusses what is The First Order's deal with her usual (i. e. high) level of analysis and depth. Also, it's nice to hear someone talk about Star Wars as of a film series, not an object of (toxic and divided) fandom.

Springtime - I adore Looney Tuney, Tom & Jerry, Silly Simphonies and all other classical shorts' series. For a couple of years Disney has been putting out new short starring Mickey Mouse and his gang and they are absolutely delightful. This one gets the mention as it a playful homage to Fantasia, with a music-inspired plotline (by the way, the piece of music in this short was written specifically for this animation.) A new short has been literally just released, so go and check them out!

    Great thread!

Ok, ok, I'm kidding. :p Here's something serious:

It's a very good mini-documentary about amateur filmmaking... or maybe about ambition and pursuit of dreams in general. The guy creates some quality content overall, highly recommended.

Since I watch a lot of YT, I'll definitely share more in future.

I mostly listen to Youtube music vids, or excerpts from the SOLO score.

Youtube videos on Star Wars are mostly horrific right now, spewing negativity, vitriol and cursing about KK and LFL. It is sickening.

Oh I have a LOT, so hold on!

The Keef Crew is hilarious, and this video always makes me laugh.

I've been REALLY into beekeeping videos these past few months. I have literally no idea why, but I find them relaxing in a way that other videos aren't right now. I also just really love how Emmy calls her bees "the girls." I don't know why, but it's just really soothing.
Emmy hasn't done any beekeeping videos this year, but hopefully next year she'll do some. Kamon on the other hand is just super relaxing due to his confidence and knowledge. Frederick Dunn is who you want to go for if you're looking for a more ASMR experience, but his videos aren't my favorite.
I also DO NOT recommend listening to these sorts of videos with headphones. It goes from soothing to unsettling way too fast.

I've been watching a good deal of World of Dance videos these past few months as well, and here are some of my favorites. Even if they're 5 years old (5 years have passed already!?), skill and mastery are ageless. So enjoy some of the masters at work! (Also Dytto totally trips Non-Stop/Marquees Scott, but both recover so well that you likely wouldn't notice it unless pointed out.) Other masters include the French dancers Les Twins and Salif Gueye, so I'll include my fav of that too.

(This is a 2020 video, so you can see some development.)

I just find this to be a hilariously accurate (and hopefully somewhat true) view of how Disney would deal with the X-Men.

Smosh has changed a lot over the years, as well they should. Their audience is different now, and after going through some really rough patches, they have different people at the forefront. Try Not To Laugh is one of the better video things they do, and this has some of the best ones. Then again, most of the Shayne skits are hilarious.
The second video even funnier for the context rather than the actual jokes. Gus has NEVER lost during these contests, and it's Shayne's personal goal to make him lose at least once. Every attempt is more meta and creative.
Like a lot of humor, the context and parameters set the stage for what's considered funny. Outside of the "don't spit water laughing" and backstage giggling that contributes, I probably wouldn't find it nearly as hilarious as it is.

Fire Emblem and a metal cover of one of the best final boss themes in the franchise, sung by the voice actor of my favorite lord in the game? HECK. YES.

Someone took some of the funnier moments from the Anime Impulse interviews and promotion for Fire Emblem Three Houses, took the models from the game, and matched each voice actor with their character (with the appropriate animations of course). The last one is just an animated meme.

Here are some Brandon Sanderson memes, because why not? (And a LOTR meme for good fun)

My brother-in-law got really into My Hero Academia recently, so here's a video for the Spider-Man and MHA fans!

On the subject of AMVs and the like, Voordeel's edits are masterpieces. My favorites. MCU spoilers up through Infinity War.

Some good analyses on plot twists and how to implement them, for any writers out there!

And here is the first of Brandon Sanderson's lectures on creative writing (are you sick of my bringing him up yet?)

These are all of the videos I can think of at the moment, but I'll be sure to post more when I think of them.

Edit: I DID think of a couple more videos to add. Some are more self-depreciating in terms of this fandom (as a whole, not necessarily here)...

    That was hilarious!!

Continuing on the comedy train, here are some of my favorite Key and Peele skits.

    Some SNL skits

I also HIGHLY recommend Donald Glover's "Friendos" skit. But it's slightly NSFW, and I'm not sure how much the mods would let slide so it's best to err on the side of caution (no nudity, but swearing and semi-scantily clad women).

And we can't forget Recap Raps!

Lastly, the final dance of Step Up 2: The Streets. The dance is far from perfect - Moose messes up all of the time and is constantly looking at other dancers, the girls don't get as good of a stand out section as the guys do, and it's clear that the guys' section was recorded in two takes (the tap dancer whose name I forgot and Monster (Henry Shum Jr. aka the guy in the fedora) are the best tells, since depending on the take they may or may not have their jackets on). But all of those imperfections make the dance so much better. This may not be the best dance on a technical level, but it was a groundbreaking dance for the series, and is a fan favorite.

It was good to hear that Rick Moranis is doing okay after his encounter with a street looney. And after that excitement, what better way to relax than with the godfather of smooth, Tom Monroe, and some selections from his Videodisc “On A New Wavelength”.

Some fun clips from the 2017 Power Rangers movie. I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you're not a fan of Power Rangers. But if you liked Josh Trank's Chronicle or the new Tom Holland Spider-Man movies - movies that blend the idea of being a superhero with the reality of being a "modern" teen - then you might like it. Below are some of the best scenes in the movie. That slap may be one of the best slaps I've ever seen in a movie, and Naomi Scott (Kim) actually cut her hair during that scene.

...or just watch Honest Trailers...which is - as usual - hilariously accurate.

ERB Harry vs Luke! Warning, there is language in this. (And Luke wins by a landslide. Harry had to bring up the PT & ST; Luke didn't need to bring up Fantastic Beasts' controversy, the JK Rowling controversies, OR anything from the Cursed Child.)

In the bee/wasp removals, we have Texas Beeworks and the Hornet King. Texas Beework is a small channel and hasn't uploaded recently, but I'm not too surprised. The lady running it got married this fall, and winter is a slow time for bee removals. The Hornet King's videos are a weird mixture of catharsis, respect, and cute squireels. You watch this man remove and kill so many wasps that you feel like you're getting revenge for all the pain and fear they cause you vicariously through him. And then you keep watching and realize the respect he has for wasps, and then you realize how wasps are (somewhat) important to the environment, and slowly, you learn to respect them. Not like them, never like them. But respect them. And then you see Humphrey the squirrel and some of "the girls" (his chickens), and you're hooked.

Cinema Therapy is a new channel I just discovered last night, in the throes of my procrastination. I'm still looking through some of their stuff, but I think their take on movies is really helpful.

I was planning a trip to Japan for this summer, right after the Olympics, in order to visit some friends...obviously that had to be postponed. And now I think that may not be a bad thing, especially if I get to go to these places...

And for some obligatory Sanderson stuff, here's an interview with some of Sanderson's editorial team to talk about the process of book editing, and second, more general interview.
