What are everyone's thoughts on Episode 2 of Resistance? It was a little more kid-oriented than I hoped. Kaz is a little too-clutzy so far in my opinion. But I still think/hope that they're just doing this a little extra at the beginning and it will eventually be more Star Wars-ish. With scenes like the one near the end with Phasma. So far each episode has given me hope of more Star Warsy things with a scene at the end.

Kaz is an idiot, but i'm okay with that so far. : D
i loved the pirates! and Phasma looks amazing.

we're still in the establishing phase, for sure.
i want more Tam and Torra; we barely saw them at all.

Yes, Phasma was cool. I really think this show needs to tell us a lot about Phasma and Snoke. I feel like there are so many unanswered questions about them and this show is a great opportunity to explain some of it.

He's also gong to be clumsy and an idiot in the next Episode. I really hope this show picks up. It has a weaker start than Rebels IMO.

I am still optimistic about the show going forward. Why? Primarily because of this.

Also, as I've shared my opinion elsewhere, here I'd like to share HelloGreedo's, that I completely agree with.

I've seen the episode a couple of times now and it is definitely weaker than the first one. I like the idea of the pirates and how they use the storm to attack the base. The pirates are an interesting idea, I just wish they didn't refer to themselves as "pirates" when they charge into their raid. They have to have a name or something. I wish that was the only nitpick I had with it. I also like how they have the First Order working covertly through criminal organizations. It gives the audience something to think about while Kaz is left to figure it out on his own.

Kaz is so much more annoying than Ezra. His cockiness and naivety are a bit much. In Episode 3 he seems to get worse in that episode but they use that so that he can seem to learn something and become a bit more earnest. BB-8 could probably do this mission on his own and be more successful than with Kaz, but we need to see Kaz bumble his way into helping save the day every episode after also making a mess somewhere else.

I really hope the story expands some more soon to the other characters because after three episodes, I already need a break from our protagonist.

I feel like Kaz would be the kind of person I'd set up as a decoy, letting him draw all the attention while the real spies get the job done in the shadows. And I really kind of hope that ends up being an actual plotline in the story. ;)

I know is a show for kids but Kaz is so immature and clumsy (compared to Ezra) for what is suppoused to be, a spy. Don't fit so much with the tone of that period, the resistance looking for FO hints.
It seems that many agree here.

I don't know why I have already seen the third episode too, and Kaz gets worse as @Apprentice of the Wills already said.

The story seems a little rushed.

The really interesting plot is when the story follows TFA previous events more directly.

I really want to follow the show and really love the animation. Hope to see more from FO and Resistance itself in a bigger scale.

The perdiod between VI and VII has to be so interesting to explore. So many stories to tell.
Hope Disney will explore this period one day with cgi animated spinoffs (with Harlock: space pirate '2013' style or The adventures of Tintin, for exemple, the only way to see old characters together, a never explored are by SW) or something.

I hope so, too. That would be great, and it would be a nice identity/existential crisis for our protagonist. I can see them going with Kaz accidentally unmasking the real spy as his snooping about leads him to suspect a character that we've already met. He becomes more paranoid and certain that this person is the FO operative and ends up drawing the real bad guys to that person. He only learns when it is too late that he has screwed up the entire mission and has put himself and this other person in jeopardy. Poe, Black Squadron, and BB8 could swoop in for the rescue, OR the pilots and the new friends we've made on the station could band together to save the day, while teaching Kaz a lesson about humility and teamwork.

Kaz is the human equivalent of Jar Jar Binks. His demeanor and mannerisms are childlike (for someone that is supposed to be 20 years of age). He is earnest, kind and naive. His maturity is lower than Ezra and Ahsoka when they were first introduced. I believe the creators of this show purposely gave Kaz this naive clumsy
childlike qualities to have the children relate to the character. They basically dumbed down the character to attract the young kids. I love the world building of this show and the animation style, but the way Kaz interacts with BB8 and everyone else shows that this show is geared for young children, which is fine. Star Wars Resistance is aimed (along with Lego Star Wars t.v. shows) towards pre-school and elementary school children, older elementary school kids get Star Wars Rebels, Middle School (Jr. High) and up get Clone Wars. Not that adults and all sorts of Star Wars fans can't enjoy these properties. You can just tell the age demographic for each series. I hope The Mandorlian is aimed at a more mature audience. I don't expect The Mandalorian to be graphic in violence and sex as the Marvel Netflix shows, but I don't want it to be sanitized for a young child audience either.

at 22 minutes a show, the formula is pretty predictable. Kaz is charged with doing something, he makes a mess, silliness ensues, stuff gets real, and he manages to save the day with heart and something he learned from the mess he made earlier. it's a solid formula for a kids' show, but i know some people don't or won't like that.

the only thing i thought was flat-out ridiculous was how he was creeping around the marketplace. in full view of, well, everyone. XD

I'm still trying to figure out:

    1. If Kaz actually knows anything about being a mechanic (maybe there would have been a better cover?)
    2. What in the world Poe was thinking imagining that Kaz would be a good spy. (Since he says "SPYING!" out loud in the presence of others on a regular basis!) :p
(Really, I'm sure Poe knew that by the end of the series Kaz will have uncovered something serious that will make it all worthwhile. ;))

Ah well, I'll just settle in and enjoy watching the high jinks ensue. :D

oh totally. the premise is cr@ckers. either there's something else going on or we just gotta roll with it.
i get that Poe picked Kaz because him being a pilot was a good reason to have him on Colossus, but yeah, the "mechanic" cover makes no sense.
and what a spoiled little prince he is anyway: he can fly ships but doesn't know how to maintain or fix one? XD

This is the same man who sent Finn, an ex-Stormtrooper with barely any combat experience and Rose, a mechanic with even less combat expetrience onto a secret espionage mission. Let's just say his perception is a little bit skewed. :p

If you remove Kaz from the show, and replace him with an effective, charismatic, and interesting leader then the show is excellent. Setting, animation, other characters are great, and then we follow loud, annoying, unknowledgeable Kaz (are we really to believe this kid passed New Republic military/flight school and is trusted to lead a fighter squadron, what are the qualifications, breathing?) Otherwise I’m really enjoying the series. Triple Dark was the least exciting of the first three episodes, but the pirate attack on the station engineered by the First Order is a cool twist.

3 episodes in and solid so far. Episode 2 was the weakest so far, but nothing has reached the level of some of the weaker Rebels episodes (a series I really liked).

Seems like nepotism may have gotten him pretty far if we take what his father says in the first episode as an absolute truth.

I think that would make a pretty good two-part season finale. :)
