SPECULATION SWC 2023 - will it happen and where will it be?

With 2023 being the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi and Disney confirming as recently as April 27th that Rogue Squadron (*doubt intensifies*) is still slated for release in December 2023, there’s at least a decent chance of Celebration 2023 being announced during the closing ceremony in Anaheim this month.

My question is, where do you think it’ll be and where would you like it to be? Or do you think Disney will skip at year like in 2018, even with the release of Solo.

Personally, and selfishly, I’d like to see a return to London. COVID restrictions are pretty much nonexistent here now, and the UK would represent a logistically straight forward and relatively low risk location for Disney. We’re well overdue for an overseas celebration as the last 3 celebration have all been held in the US, the city of Orlando has hosted as many times as the entire continent of Europe and the last cinematic Star Wars release actually made 52% of its money outside of the US & Canada.

Objectively, I’d like to see Celebration head somewhere new, like Australia. I personally wouldn’t be able to attend but I’d like to see Lucasfilm show more love and appreciation to fans outside of the US, especially as the American fanbase seem more interested in making Star Wars a battle field for their respective political ideologies instead of enjoying how good they’ve got it. Australians, no doubt, would appreciate hosting a celebration a hell of a lot more.

Realistically, I think it’ll be in the US again or won’t happen at all.
