I think the most difficult thing to bring back is carrie’s voice... she had a very distinctive tone and hoarseness. With the technology nowadays you could stick her face to her daughter’s or another actress’s body, but her voice... I think that‘s what the real challenge is. We may see a bit of Leia in the film, but I doubt we’ll see her saying much.

They did a great job recreating her voice/image in the battlefront game
    so it is defiantly possible
i wonder if they would do a combination od carries voice with another voice actor or just replace her audio completely (I'm sure that would upset some people)

That was very good indeed, not quite 100% on (althogh a couple of lines were copies or even re-used from the films). Of course, they had the benefit of hologram distortion here, but still. I think you're right that they could get a very close voice approximation of Carrie if they worked hard on it (and this is SW so they will work hard). I am good with this :)

    From Oscar Isaac's latest interview

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/oscar...-latino-hysteria-in-the-age-of-trump?ref=home

"Each film was planned in part as a celebration and send-off to each of the original trilogy’s most beloved heroes: in The Force Awakens, Han Solo (Harrison Ford); in The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill); Fisher, meanwhile, had hoped to save Leia’s spotlight for last but passed unexpectedly long before filming began. Director J.J. Abrams, returning to close the trilogy he opened with Episode VII, has since said that unseen footage of Fisher from that previous film will ensure the General appears, however briefly.

For his part, Isaac promises the still-untitled ninth film will pay appropriate homage to Leia—and to Fisher’s sense of fun. “The story deals with that quite a bit,” he says. “It’s a strange thing to be on the set and to be speaking of Leia and having Carrie not be around. There’s definitely some pain in that.” Still, he says, compared to the first two installments, “there’s a looseness and an energy to the way that we’re shooting this that feels very different.”
    [...]
Fisher’s absence is felt keenly on set, Isaac says. As if to reassure us both, however, he reiterates: “It deals with the amazing character that Carrie created in a really beautiful way.”

I'd say what I said before... I think we'll Leia briefly and then dieing. But that death will impact the movie, quite a lot....
    That's my bet

The funny thing is that I heard the unused footage is coming from "A New Hope"! :p

Hopefully more will be involved with Poe. Those scenes of her scolding him in TLJ were classic.

I have confidence that JJ and Lucasfilm will do a good job however it comes about. Their reverence for Carrie is obvious and I don’t think they would include anything that would not do the character of Leia or Carrie herself any injustice.

While I won’t rule out that Leia will be killed off I just don’t think it is going to happen. I have trouble seeing them going through the effort to bring her back in a meaningful way just to then kill her off.

It would have to be some kind of major sacrifice that wins the entire saga (however that may come to pass), but I too think this is very unlikely. It would be extremely difficult to pull off in any satisfying way, and my bet is that they'll simply chose another, more manageable and safe way to use the Leia character. But yeah, they're gonna ace it whatever they do regarding Leia, I think.

I think they will give her a very respectful tribute similar to what was done with Paul Walker in Furious 7.
