There are no details at the moment but it appears some theaters will be holding a marathon leading up to the release of The Rise of Skywalker

In my youth I might have been game for a marathon such as this but these days I wouldn’t be able to make it. But I would do a home marathon that could rival this and be personally tailored so I will go that route. Depending on how the Mandalorian turns out it might be a great addition/substitution.

I'm pretty sure my theater won't do the marathon. Despite being an IMAX theater. They never do the cool stuff like this even back before AMC bought out Carmike Cinemas. My town was their HQ too.

I'm not planning to see TROS until the hype dies down (if there is any). I'll go see it during the last few weeks it's in theaters.

I will probably watch Episode 1-7 as a marathon over the holidays, skip 8 (or let it play and go watch some paint dry in another room), and then go see 9.

Yeah, when I was a young lad I might have done a 27 hour marathon at a theater, but there is no way I'm doing that now. Like others, I'll watch them at home in preparation. Probably do one every evening after work in order (Solo, Rogue One, A New Hope, Empire, The Phantom Menace, Attack of, Revenge, Return of the Jedi and then The Force Awakens). I certainly won't go opening night. I hate crowds. Maybe opening Friday (perhaps take the day off from work and go first thing in the morning).

I intend to watch TFA and TLJ right before I see TROS. I want it all fresh in my mind.

The hype is already here! It's getting stronger every day! Prepare for a class five hurricane!

I'm 46 (almost 47) and I've got my sights dead set on that marathon. Life is short, and I'm going to take part in all the crazy things I can while I'm still able.

Everyone's experience is different, but I've found the earlier crowds to be much more tolerable. Those are the people who really want to see the movie. Upon subsequent rewatches at later dates, you start to get the crowd that is only casually interested. You know, the ones who talk during the movie, bring obnoxious children, and are on their phones the entire time. I don't mind as much then, because I'm on my fourth or fifth viewing by then.

I fully intend to set a personal record in theater viewing with TRoS!

I'm with you brother!!! Last time I saw Star Wars on the big screen was when the special editions were released. I never forgot there was this obnoxious dude saying run Luke run during ANH, took me out of the film. Anywho, I gotta do a marathon only thing is my work schedule. I definitely have to go and come back.

If I were to do any type of marathon, it would be at home on the weekend before. There fact no theaters near me are doing anything hinders it some what.... plus that job thing doesn't bode to well for it either.

Tell me about it my first viewing of TLJ (Saturday Afternoon) was completely trashed by about 6 guys in the row behind who talked used there phone got up to get drinks several times & generals were complete D**** . Thank fully my local 1 screen cinema was a much nicer experience ( ok as a independent cinema they get the film about 3 - 4 weeks later) but then they are actually film fans who go to the showing & it was a full house with a great great atmosphere .

This time my health is much improved so I will be trying to get up to a couple of London Showings plus my local cinema which is where I first watched ANH & ROTJ so that’s going to be a bit special.

I was super excited for a Theater Marathon, but I'm having a hard time justifying a 27.5 hour theater experience for the ultimate payoff of seeing the film one hour earlier than anyone else.

But I'll probably still do it.

I’ll have my own marathon at home: I’ll rewatch Episodes 1-8 during the 24 hours before I see Episode 9 on opening night. Disney Plus is going to make it so much easier... :D
