It's crazy how he is totally comfortable with Rose loving Finn. Based on what?
Then he believes Finn has anger and hatred in his heart. Where did this come from?
He wanted to get away to the Outer Rim. That doesn't sound like hatred to me.
To top it off he is selfish because he doesn't want to fight for the Resistance. No it isn't. It's called choice, and he doesn't owe them anything.

Rose is a weak character. She does a lot of whining, and shows little compassion. Strength is endurance as well as understanding. She has neither. If she was strong she would have shown compassion for Finn, and the sacrifices he made to get to this point. If she was strong she would have asked him what is it he wants to do with his life now that he has it back. Nope. Finn gets the First Order 2.0 treatment, and he wants to say Rose loves Finn? What is he on?
What man unless he is a sucker would call what Rose did love? I guess this guy likes it when his girlfriend or wife berates him and calls him names. He believes that is love. I believe he needs to speak to some men with a spine, because I wonder about his.

I don't know if anyone has picked up on this, but Rey did more to help Kylo than anyone else in the film. How is she the hero? The Resistance didn't gain anything from the interaction between Rey and Kylo. You can fail, but RJ made her look stupid. There needs to be a scene where she is berated for her stupidity. Finn never did anything as stupid as Rey. Finn's choices helped the Resistance. Rey's hasn't.

I can see why Finn would “hate” the FO in theory but we never know what it was like for him in the FO. Just act he was a “janitor”(thats not racist!) and.....

And to be fair, I actually like Rose and Finn’s first scene together with the taser. I thought “oh this could be fun,” but that character trait doesn’t come back for Rose. She is just there to “improve” Finn rather than just stand on her own. She tells him a very on the nose concept about rich people and slave kids.

I like Rose as a concept, a nerdy tech person in Star Wars just like I love the idea of Anakin’s downfall. The execution though....

And sometimes to save what you love you have to fight what we hate. Imagine telling the Polish resistance whose families died by Nazi’s that they can’t fight what they hate.

I think Kelly Marie Tran did the best she could with the role given to her and she doesn’t deserve the online harassment. The problem is people don’t separate the role with the actress/actors and so get people like Hulk who get to say “oh if you don’t like Rose/Finn you’re just dumb or racist.”

To be fair though, that issue was strictly EA's fault not Disney/Lucasfilm. They dropped the hammer on EA not too soon afterwards.

That because there is NO new information about the trilogy that they haven't told us already. Rian is currently working a different movie called Knives Out featuring Daniel Craig and the press release of this move has stated that Rian is going to work on the SW trilogy after this movie. Why is this such a hard concept to comprehend?

It's tough to have new information for a trilogy that isn't taking place.

As you say: Why is this such a hard concept to comprehend?

But it IS still taking place!!!! You're using assumptions because they didn't mention anything about that it is going to be canceled. You're using your feelings and opinions as fact which isn't true not to mention whole a lot of ASSUMPTIONS!!

Based on historically how Disney/Lucasfilm fired directors, they WOULD have fired Rian by now. Wouldn't they fired him when they announced there stopping of the spinoff films? If they are going to fire Rian, what are they waiting for? Whats the logic for waiting? Wouldn't it be be logical to fire the director while he was working on another project? There not going to fire a director because a hand full of cry baby fans didn't like how TLJ turned out especially a director that was easy to work with and made them stupid amounts of money. Rian trilogy isn't going to canceled anytime soon, DEAL WITH IT!!! Also why do you care if they don't cancel it? It's very likely that you're NOT going to see his movies anyways.

Bob Iger is not an idiot, if he was pleased with the last movie, he would have say in the interview : Of course, we had this incredible ep VIII and we're delighted to work again with Rian Johnson ...

He talked about GoT guys, his streaming plans and he had not one word for the last director ( he cited JJ too ... )

In diplomatic words, when the point of your talk is to say that there will be less movies, it's just saying that there will be the streaming series, GOT's dudes trilogy, EP IX and that's it.

Because it is his job to promote their work and to praise what they did.

They don't need to fire him, he's not under contract.

My friend, why are you getting so worked up here? Hear me now and believe me later: There will be no Star Wars trilogy helmed by Rian Johnson - meaning a trilogy where he is the writer/director. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a throwaway Executive Producer credit somewhere down the line, but he won't be doing a full trilogy where he is the primary creator.

    Deal with it.

As for why I care, it is because they can only release so many Star Wars films. If the are going to release a trilogy, I would rather they hired capable, qualified filmmakers instead of someone who has demonstrated he really just doesn't understand the Star Wars universe.

This this this. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. What Iger didn't say spoke volumes. When it comes to Marvel, Iger made it clear that Kevin Feige is the man and Feige calls the shots. But when it comes to Lucasfilm? It is equally clear that Iger has stepped in and taken a more direct control of that studio.

Nothing says a movie franchise is doing great like the CEO announcing "a slowdown." </sarcasm>

Amen brother! If I could like this post 1000xs I would.

What gets me is the idea that RJ somehow deserves a trilogy of his own. The guy, time and time again, has shown he knows nothing about the Star Wars universe. He treated the characters quite flippantly, and then wants to do a trilogy in a different galaxy with different characters??? That sounds like its NOT Star Wars. But don't tell that to RJ or his supporters.

I for one was ecstatic by what Iger said (and didn't say). The fact he said absolutely NOTHING about RJ and KK spoke volumes. Thankfully those two dunderheads will be gone (if they aren't already gone). RJ can go on and do other things. Just stay away from Star Wars!

Firing RJ now would basically be telling the fandom that he didn't like TLJ, or the effects TLJ had on the fandom ect.... it would be regarded as negative publicity for IX. Not a good idea when the sequel to TLJ is coming up in a year or so. No one at Disney or LFL will do anything that can in any way shape or form harm IX. That's just good business. After IX has come and gone, then we might eventually hear that there won't be an RJ trilogy, or they can just ignore that it had ever been announced and move forward with all the other projects in the works. At some point we'll probably get a throw away line that RJ is too busy ect... As someone else said, they don't need to fire him, he's not under contract or working on anything.

Of course this is all assumptions, but I do find it curious that there was absolutely no mention of RJ. Heck, it's two letters to throw into a line. It's an assumption, but based on the slow down and lack of a name drop, the assumption holds a fair bit of possibility. After TLJ, I thought RJ would still get his trilogy, but since Solo and RJ's antics on twitter and stuff, I'm now on the fence. He's a polarizing figure in SW right now. He might eventually get one, but I think a lot depends on IX. If there were hidden hooks in TLJ that pay off in IX, maybe he gets more appreciation. Right now though, he'd be a riskier bet.

Honestly, I wish they had given him his trilogy or spin off before TLJ. I think he could have come up with something satisfying without being burdened by the OT3 and JJ's characters. He's superbly talented in some ways, given a fresh product, I think the fandom would have been more receptive.

In fairness, Bob iger was asked to comment on this. : "Many believe Disney should pump the breaks and not put out a Star Wars movie each year."
The man is just being diplomatic IMO. I think if he has learned something is not to give the SW fans too much insight in what they are doing... a lot of fan reaction has been very visceral and unhealthy and I feel he wants to stir away from all this negativity and keep it simple, just mentioning what is immediate and first in the agenda and keeping mum about RJ or any other project, to stop those tongues wagging so to speak. No one can blame him...

I'm not getting worked up. You spreading false information with nothing to back it up. Everything I said is from verifiable source. Sure it is possible RJ may not direct a trilogy but until we hear something about that, that is not the case. Everything I read says exactly the opposite that you're claiming as fact. Here me now, i'm talking about the present 09-26-2018, anything in the future is irreverent. As NOW he is still directing a trilogy. That can change tomorrow or a year from now, but AS OF NOW HE IS DIRECTING A TRILOGY until you provide legitimate evidence that proves other wise.

As I said before, there is no new information that we don't already know, why would Bob mention something about a project that hasn't changed? Bob also didn't mention anything about Jon Favreau tv series, so is that series now canceled? That's the same logic you guy are pulling about RJ

    Yeah, you kind of are.
Now you are just telling lies about me. I haven't made one single false statement, period.

What I am doing is making a prediction, one I stand by 110% (and have been making for about 8 months now). The day will come when you discover my prediction is correct. Promise me you'll still be here so I can say "I told yo so." (Something tells me you already suspect I will be proven right because you're already hedging your bets, so to speak).

Hear me now and believe me later: There will be no Star Wars trilogy helmed by Rian Johnson.
That's a weak comparison. In the interview, he was clearly only talking about motion pictures, not TV shows like Rebels, Resistance, or the Favreau series.

I have no problem admitting im wrong if facts are presented to me shows me that i'm wrong. For the time being that isn't true until we're told other wise. Even the weather man can be wrong about their predictions.....

That is a cop-out. It's the same logic that your assuming about Rian's trilogy, so you're argument is just as weak if not weaker....

When you consider the drastic difference in expenses required to make a film and a TV series, it's not hard to see why Iger didn't mention anything about the latter. The movies are the big money-maker, and require the most money to make. Of course he's going to comment on their status, their progress and success/failure is the thing Disney's shareholders pay the most attention to.

And when he omits to talk about Rian's trilogy anywhere in his statement, I don't necessarily think it translates to it being cancelled (we can't be that lucky), but more or less that it's not the immediate focus right now. I wouldn't be shocked if he mentioned Benioff & Weiss' trilogy because they're next on the list of priorities after Episode 9. It may be what we get next, with Rian's trilogy pushed further back.

If those are the projects undergoing the most discussion at Disney/LFL right now, then it might be because they're taking higher priority. That's just my guess.

That I can agree on plus Rian is currently working on another movie that is suppose to start filming in November. My point is which the 2 posters I responded to are assuming that it's fact a that Rian trilogy is canceled DESPITE the man himself has confirmed multiple times on Twitter saying his project still has the green light and the press release of his movie that he's currently working also stated that he will work on the unnamed SW trilogy once he's done with his current project. That fine if they want to predict that it's not going to happen doesn't' mean it WILL happen. If the weather man can't predict weather properly with scientific models in front of their face, what makes you think a random person who's biased and clearly thinking on emotion rather than logic is going to be right. I didn't like Avatar but you don't see me complaining to James Cameron about making sequels and trolling his twitter page about the various political messages in Avatar such as Imperialism, Anti-Americanism, etc......

While some people in LFL are drinking fan boys tears, joking on Twitter how toxic this fan base is or whatever it is, Bob Iger sees customers and there is not one single business in the world where a company can afford their employess to taunt and troll their own customers and this is not gonna start with Lucas FIlms.

The communication of the company after the movie was just flat out terrible for a businessman.

That's the whole point of this. Denying the obvious just to be right or have the right punchline.
