Even if fake, I think it's believable. Don't know if I like it, but this much I know is that it sounds better than anything in the previous movie. Then again, I was duped into believing a few bogus TLJ story leaks- in hindsight, were much better than the real thing.

I don't remember much in terms of story leaks for TLJ. Pretty much the only thing was the Luke superhero fight that got people excited, but was kind of out of character for Luke. I wonder if that led to some disappointment in the end. Seems like some people for got Jedi are supposed to be pacifists. Kind of a tough lesson they learned again in the Clone Wars.

The one thing I do remember was Leia being injured early on in the film and her using the force in some way to save her life. That was leaked, but that was pretty much it.

Seems more like TFA for leaks than TLJ. Strangely both have JJ in charge.

Jason Ward pretty much confirms everything Paxis said about the first act of the film, He says his robes are black with like a red lining. And shoots down part of the rebel fleet with lightening after becoming younger.

I guess I'm part of the minority that thinks bringing back Palpatine is incredibly lame... JMO

Sounds to me like this could be pretty fun. It's a bit over the top, but I'm sure that if this is accurate and if it is done well (which I'm sure JJ would) it'll work quite well :)

This is just the first act?! Oh man this is going to be an interesting movie. The entire plot of TFA could have filled up that amount of paragraphs..

Absolutely not in my opinion.. only Palpatine can be threatening as a villain at this point in the saga. Bringing in a new villain this late would be lame.. plus Ian McDiarmid is a great actor.

It is hard at this point to judge any of this. Some of it sounds great, some sounds... So it depends on the execution. One hopes it is well executed. If that is the case, it should be a fun film.

I generally believe the leak and I like it. Regarding the how given the security... Is it not possible with the amount of staff working on this massive project over several locations, months (most of them NOT being the main cast and crew) that people who know people like Jason Ward and JP can jigsaw puzzle this thing together from the individual parts their sources worked on obviously missing certain detail, context and nuances?
Something JW said rang true to me because its been the case since TLJ. People are asking him about Finn and Poe but his sources have been only interested in talking about Rey and Kylo. Why do leakers leak? For some sense of feeling importance or power... Who does the general public appear to want to know about...(not me but whatever) Reylo and now Palpatine. I take spoilers for what they are worth. None are 100% complete are accurate and nothing written not even a shot for shot script can provide the detail and context of a visual or an actors performance. I do think this synopsis is likely about 70-75% accurate and I personally like the story that is being told more than the previous film so far...I want more Finn and Poe (and Rose and Jannah) info but am ok if leakers are not focused on that and can be surprised watching the film.

So what happens if its revealed that "Palpatine" never existed and the name was just a mask of sorts?

This isn't the real "act structure" of the film; it's JediPaxis' layout of what he's learned divided into a 3-act structure for presentation, which is something that he flat-out admits at the start.

I'm still on-the-fence about this whole "granddaughter" thing with Palpatine and Rey, but it being a lie or a trick would go a long way towards tipping me towards liking the idea more than I do currently.

I have concluded that whatever happens in the film, 70% of the people who see it will claim it ruined their lives, rendered their childhood devoid of meaning and proclaim the end of humanity. Oh and they will either say they should have kept Lucas on board or blame Lucas for the failure of this film as well.

it doesn't matter what's in the movie many of those who see it will claim it ruined star wars despite the fact they haven't liked anything related to star wars in 36 years.

Almost correct, except it won't 70% of the people, but more like 7%. Although, that 7% will Vhlor and scream and cary on so that it will feel like 70%

Bringing back Plapatine is lame. It's a strange lame though because Plapatine himself is good fun, but the lameness consists in: 1) waiting until the third film to bring him back, which makes it seem disconnected from the previous two films. 2) It shows they completely lack any originality and the only form of it they have had is a subversion that still depends on the original to work. 3) Bringing back Plapatine likely messes up the previous Chosen One story, but then again, these hacks don't care about ruining the previous films and characters, so we shouldn't be surprised.

I mean, the easy get-around is to say that he's no longer Sith now, since the Sith didn't get him what he wanted. He's "surpassed" it, or something like that.

So I'm not gonna read the leaks because I'm generally averse to spoilers* (although the fact that I'm posting on this specific thread says to me that I don't care, which worries me) but is the Reylo thing in the "leak"? This I don't mind being spoiled for.

*There have been exceptions, like the latest Game of Thrones season and the series finale. But that actually helped lower my expectations so much that I genuinely enjoyed most of the finale and think it's a good book finale.

If you have a "Big Bad" in a long-running, continuous series, it's a natural move to bring them back into the fray during the final act of the overall narrative, even - and especially - if they'd already been dispatched earlier in the story.

Palpatine returning - and returning specifically in TRoS - is a perfectly reasonable and not at all surprising narrative choice for Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and the rest of the filmmakers to have made because it's bringing the story of the Saga films full-circle.

Personally it does, to me, seem that, IF Palpatine is still alive, it screws up the OT. The prophecy said the "Chosen One" would bring balance to the force and destroy the Sith (if I remember correctly). Yes, I know, a "prophecy that misread could have been." Still, at the end of Return of the Jedi, the prophecy was fulfilled.

I said this a few months ago, the best way to handle this, IMHO, is to first, make Rey a clone of Luke. That explains her powers to some extent. Make her his kid in that regard. Second, with Palpatine, don't have him back alive. Have him haunting the mask of Vader. He wants to use Rey to some how come "back to life" or possess her, like he did Snoke. But having him totally survive that fall on the Death Star?

Anyway, I just want a film that is fun, stays true to the lore, and ends the saga (for now) very well.
